Little Green Man

Isn't he cute?
I bought one for JS and I at Christmas.

I told JS that instead of arguing with each other
we could us them to illustrate our frustrations.

Let me demonstrate, you hold them in your
hand and squeeze.
This ones mine, Ops !................I blew an eyeball.

I really need for spring to get here.

A Day With The Boy's

Saturday JS and I picked up one of the workers
(at 6:30am) and headed to son Shane's, a nice hour
and a half drive in and out of the fog. Shane's been
working on his house painting, new carpet and is working
on landscaping the yards. For his Christmas gift
we told him we would come down and help with the
woodwork.

Meet sons Shane and Zach (with the hat). All three kids
spent summers threw high school and college working for
our construction co. Shane is a good framer and
concrete man and Zach is a pretty good finish carpenter.

The boys put this floor in and are doing all the base board,

but needed the pros to come in for the windows,
paneling and chair rails and Dad was glad to help.

Mom helped too..................... filling nail holes,

and Shane bought lunch.

It was a long day, but I have to say it really looked good
when it was done. Only 10 thousand nail holes to go.

Just between you and me, I think renting is
under estimated.
"Really Mom, again with the camera?"
Let me think, did I take this picture in the morning
or when we got home?

Fog.......

The only good thing about fog, is standing in the sunshine
looking at it. Yesterday it rained but this morning the
fog had returned. I took the camera and drove up the
hill so I could share with you.

Thats the Coast Rang over there on the other side
and the north end of the Sacramento Valley is under
that sea of grey.

This little mountain range is the Sutter Buttes,
they look like an island. My house is right down
there in front of us.

When I got home these Cedar Wax Wings were setting in
the top of the oak tree, waiting for the sun. Their sure
cute and make a really nice sound.

The plan for the weekend is to go to son Shane's and help
him finish base boards and trim in his house. I'll take the
camera, and show you the progress.
Have a great weekend everyone.

CATTLEWOMEN'S, Beef Ambassador

Yesterday Sarah Deforest hosted our meeting and
potluck at the Chico State Farm.

We purchased these new activity handout for the kid's
programs we participate in threw the year. They
were created by the Kern county Cattlewomen's and
the Fence Post Country Reader.

This is a sample of the new billboards that the
Cattlemen and Cattlewomen are putting up around
the county. They look nice and to the point.

Sarah is also our unites Beef Ambassador Chair
and held the competition for our county at the farm.
We had seven students participate, they sat in on our
meeting while they each waited their turn.

The Beef Ambassador program is a speaking
competition held at the high school level,
and highlights the positive impact the cattle
industry has on our economy and families.
It trains youth to speak not only to members of
the industry but to critics and the media, by
education them on facts and dispelling myths.
Each states winner gos on to the
National Beef Ambassador Competition.

X Marks The Spot

Not really something you want to see over the top of your
house. I like to know what the time span was between

DONE ?

Those beautiful blue skies made everything icy white
this morning. This is our third freeze and the damaged
fruit is starting to show on the trees.
We picked two orders today and will just have to see
what the feedback is from my buyers.
About half the orchard is pick and this could be the last.
It starts raining again tomorrow.

A Little Brighter

It is foggy, gray and gloomy. The wet drippy kind.
This whole week has been gloomy, in part because
of the passing of a friend who's service was held this
Wednesday. It says a lot about a person, when there
is standing room only and every story told by
family and friends ends in laughter.

I took these shots at the beginning of the week and
thought this little yellow bird would just
brighten up the day.

The Best Thing About January

Did my regular morning routine, then the appliance guy
came late morning and put a new water pump in the
dishwasher. For those of you keeping track, that's one
new toilet, one new kitchen faucet, septic and Oh ya
the wood stove still has parts setting along side of it.

Then I went to town. Farm Supply, Staples, Big 5
and the sports club. JS bought me a membership
to the sports club so I could go with Lorna, but never
actually got around to purchasing the membership.
(?????????)

When I stopped at the mailbox I had a nice surprise.

Sunday Stills, Best Shots of 2010

Best shots of 2010,
that's the challenge ED has for us this week.
Ed for the past two years has been hosting the the
Sunday Stills web page where people from all over the
world post their photos for each weeks challenge.

I really enjoy it, but my photos are OK at best.
Here's to you ED and Thank You for giving us all a fun
activity and looking forward to your challenges in 2011
