emmy at home

oh my goodness the kids love this baby!

i wasn't prepared for how much they would constantly be surrounding her

and begging to hold her

and kissing her

and touching her head

and her cheeks

and her hands

i'm so glad they love her so very much

i love the way she completes our family.

i love comparing mia's blond hair with emmy's dark hair

mia's hair was dark like that when she was born too

emmy's hair has silver/blond roots like newborn mia's did

so crazy that it can be so dark and in a few months be so blond

kyler is awesome with her and loves holding her

it's nice having older kids that i can trust to hold her while i shower or nap

kyler even fell asleep himself one day, so sweet, what a great big bro

brenner also loves holding her

i love how he gets much more gentle and quiet when he is around her

porter loves to hold her too

he is cute with her and laughs at all her cute noises and faces

lexi is a great big sister

she has had summer-bed-hair since emmy was born

so she won't let me take pictures of her

but she holds her for hours at a time

and of course mia, mia, mia

she begs at all hours of the day to hold emma

they are going to be great friends one day

i know it 

a few things:

i love her soft hair

i love listening to her breathing in my ear when she's on my shoulder

i love her cute noises

she loves to be swaddled

she loves and sleeps best when she is held

she has long dainty fingers

she has tiny feet and long toes

she smells so good

she always has her cute little fist up by her face while she sleeps

one of my favorite things is how she curls up her legs in a little ball

they automatically spring right back up how they were in the womb

the c-section went well

Dr. Goff is awesome

we couldn't believe how much dark hair she had!

she doesn't look like our other babies

she was very alert from the moment she was born

her eyes were wide open when we first saw her and she was looking around

we had a hard time thinking of a name.

well, i had a hard time.

dave wanted to name her macy.

dave told his family it was imogen.

we actually named her elle the day i left the hospital.

but then i went back a few days later and changed it to emma.

emma is dave's great-grandma's name

and my great-great-grandma's name.

my mom brought the kids to the hospital in the afternoon

boy did they love seeing her!

they kept saying how cute she was.

i loved watching them holding her.

better than christmas.

i have a feeling i might not get much time holding her once we get home.

there are lots of arms waiting!

dave and i had a nice quiet afternoon/evening in the hospital.

Mercy Hospital in OKC was awesome!

the nurses were kind and energetic.

the food was ah-maz-ing.

it was nice.

they made me get up after a few hours, took out the foley,

and had me walk around.  i think it helped a lot.

that first night poor emma was fussy.

we only got a couple hours sleep.

but i loved having her with me.

i love the cowlick she has on top of her head that makes a little alfalfa tail!

Dave actually flew to Kennewick, WA the next day to interview for a job.

Debbie was so great to take the kids to her house and my Mom 

came to the hospital to spend the day with me.

on Friday they let me come home.

the boys were at Debbie's again so it was just the girls at home for a few quiet hours.

it was really nice.

it's always so neat to have a new baby at home.

so peaceful and special.

the next day mia and emma bonded.

mia loves her new sister so much.
