photo shoot that turned into Christmas pics

We took the kids to get their year and a half photos (a month late) to JCpenney. The first problem was that when they went into the room there was a christmas tree set up with ornaments all over it. The kids attacked it and were very upset if we took away the ornaments which led to crying pictures. So, we finally just let them hold the ornaments and pulled up the chrismas background . We did get a few that don't have ornaments, but for he most part they were all the christmas photos. Thank goodness Kathryn's dress was read and Bryce's sweater had green in it! :)
The slide show next to this post has all of the pictures!

Zoo and Museum with the twins

We took the twins to the Zoo and the Natural History Museum this weekend and it was really cute and fun. Our family went as volunteers in the morning, and we planted some plants. After that, we could all go to the zoo for free! :)Here are some pictures of us planting. After that, we went and cooled off in the splash park part of the zoo. I didnt' know about it so I didn't bring the kid's swimsuits. But, it was still fun anyway!

Here is Kathryn at the Splash Park. Kathryn basically was the bouncer. She decided which kids could go up the stairs and down the slide all day. This position she is in below is very dangerous. She is deciding if she is going to pinch his face.
These kids were much bigger than her, so she diecided to let them pass.

After falling down the slide herself, she decided to go run through the splashing water with Bryce. Bryce is in the the bottom right hand corner. Bryce decided to go down the slide as well.
But, Byrce spent most his time running through the water!
Here we are at the museum. You can see that the twins, especially Kathryn, are trying to escape from us. That is because we drove them all the way to the museum so that they could fuss until we finally just let them play on the stairs the whole time.

Trying out for, "The Next Food Network Star"

Everyone knows how much I love to cook. I am trying out for the Next Food Network Star reality show. So, tonight Vicente and I spent about 5 hours on this whole thing! Can you believe it? What do you think? It can only be 3 minutes, so it is rushed at the end. Should I do it again? It is due on Monday!

Here is the recipe that people are asking for. ( I forgot the salt and pepper in the demo, so don't forget that)

Fennel and Mushroom Salad with Toasted Parmesan
Ingerdients:
Serves 2-4 people

1 box of spring lettuce
1/2 pound of cremini mushrooms
4 TBS Italian Parsley
1 1/2 small to medium fennel bulbs
3 TBS Lemon Juice (about 1 large lemon)
Parmesan Cheese block
Salt and Pepper

1. Slice the Parmesan Cheese as thin as possible and place on an ungreased cookie sheet
2. Place under a broiler for about 5 minutes and about 6 inches below the broiler lamp
3. Watch closely
4. Take out when golden and hard
5. If it seems to be smoking and burning but it isn't finished, turn off the broiler and just let the left over heat in the oven finish toasting it

After the cheese
1. Thinly slice the fennel. Don't use the green part, only the white root. Slice as thin as possible
2. Thinly slice the Cremini Mushrooms
3. Mince the Parsley
4. Make lemon juice and add all other ingredients together (besides the lettuce and 1 TBS parsley)
5. Add about 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp pepper
6. Mix well
7. Place the topping on the lettuce being sure to scoop up some of the liquid from the bottom
8. Top with the last bit of parsley and toasted parmesan

ENJOY!

I am keeping my promise

I am actually going to blog and post some pictures of my cute kids. Today Vicente started school and Tara had her baby! What a great day!

Kathryn is very proud of herself. She is standign on a box in this picture.
I guess Bryce likes it now when I change his diaper!?!

Here is a video of the kids. We put them on these stools as "time out". But, the kids love their time out chairs, so it doesn't really work.
