Black, White and Bold

Another UFO has come out of the closet...this one from April 16, 2015.  It is my June UFO for Judy Laquidara's UFO Challenge. It is 62x74.

I don't remember where I got the pattern, but you piece together 2 1/2" strips and make 45 degree cuts. I had a few blocks left over, so I put that half row on the left.

It's a pretty good scrap buster.

2.jpg.b2f0989eeee0cfdceda96c6edf835d80.jpg

The back is actually a dark blue but got washed out with the camera.

The panto is Climbing Clematis, by Michelle Wyman.

Top thread was Glide Bark until I ran out in the last row, then I switched to Glide Chestnut. It's hard to tell where I switched. Bobbin thread was Bottom Line Taupe

I have already loaded the next one....which was just pieced this month....shock....and have quilted a couple rows. If all goes well, it could be finished tomorrow.

Legacy by Ricky Tims

Another 2017 UFO finished.

Ricky put a free block out monthly....there were 20 of them.....but I got bored at 12 and quit. haha   Each block is 15"  The blocks sat around for a while and finally I pieced them together in February of this year. He calls it Legacy.

I was trying to use up some batik scraps, so it has a lot of batik in it. This block was paper pieced. Most of the blocks you made 4 sections and then sewed them together.

I believe this one was paper pieced also.

This was applique

This log cabin had pretty small logs.

The back is a piece from the thrift store....I used this for the binding also since there was enough left.

It is 54x70. Top thread is Glide Key Lime; bobbin is Bottom Line white.

I did a lot of SID, some fills here and there....some CC...and a circley kind of meander for the lime green.
Done is good.

The Plus Sign

I finished quilting this one about 10 days ago...and finally got the binding on it today. It was a long time coming. I finished piecing it on March 9, 2014....over 5 years later....

front.jpg.f382336fe19c53b454ff05531ce288cd.jpg

It is 81 x 93".  Panto is Amusement by Urban Elementz

The back is a thrift store find. There is a very faint print on it. Pretend those lines are all straight...i had a devil of a time with it.

This was my May challenge quilt in Judy Laquidera's UFO challenge.

I used Glide Orchid for the top; Bottom Line white for the bobbin.

Oasis

I got this pattern from Pretti at Sew Pretti.  She called it Oasis....but hers is blue and white. My Oasis is bolder.

I used two different red and brown fabrics and alternated the blocks.

These are the two different blocks. Just simple rectangles put together. I cut them 3" x 4.5".

It came out 55x57", a pretty good couch size. It will get quilted up pretty soon, I think, because I have a plan in mind. It is in the queue behind one other quilt.

My Trees are Full of Birds

This quilt has been finished for a couple of months, but my studio piecing machine was in the shop to repair the needle threader and i didn't want to bring it to the house to put on the binding, since that table was covered in projects also. haha  And, once the machine came back, I started piecing something else and didn't want to disturb that project either.

If you don't turn on the embroidery machine, things get done. So, here it is. It is 71x74". I THINK it was Leila Guardunia that designed these blocks. We got 1 each week for a year. I did 2 of each. There are 110 six inch paper pieced blocks. She came up with some fun designs.

front.jpg.cc7ce821a7c9d3c82c8e59d4aff2b7df.jpg

I used a lot of green scraps and used up some bird fabric for the other half of the block.

1.jpg.813194b614c2e82214dd3989709206a9.jpg

Most designs were pretty simple and not many pieces, but some were a bit more involved.

2.jpg.c54a768e54fa6ea755e8bc9e35dca68e.jpg

This was an easy project...when you only have to do a block a week.

3.jpg.ec8cc5b71a70f00df3ec49e97d24ee1e.jpg

If I wasn't so lazy i could have pieced them on point and they would have looked more like trees. haha

4.jpg.48684c72ef3ce91fc8a4c3535bf2f749.jpg

The back is a tan paisley.

back.jpg.bb7800657de6025d0af35ea72ce4f0a0.jpg

Top thread was Glide Light Olive; bobbin was Bottom Line Taupe.  I used a panto called Funky Fleur-de-lys by Keryn Emmerson.

I have one more to get a binding on then I will be caught up again. But, I am going to my sister's for a few days tomorrow, so it will probably be next week before that happens.

Little League

Finally, I have something to show that got finished. Well, finished piecing, not finished quilted. haha

I'm calling this one Little League. It's an Anita Goodesign embroidery CD ... wish it had more bears in different positions, but it is what it is.

The cheering fans are in the bleachers to watch the game.

The outfielder is awesome

The batter is up and ready

The pitcher is trying to psych him out. haha

The coach is there to keep an eye on things.

The bat boy is waiting for some action.

Sports equipment laying around on the bottom.

It is 40x58. Once it gets quilted, it will need to find a little boy who loves baseball.

April UFO Challenge Report

April was a crazy month...as most of them are.

I got some piecing finished....

Part of the Catch Me quilt...

Jack's Ducks was pieced...

The matching game quilt top was finished....

Things I got quilted....

Elementary Jelly Roll

And, it usually never happens, but I actually quilted two things that I had just finished piecing this month, too....

Jack's Ducks....for my cousin's 7th grandson

And, the Matching Game quilt was quilted also this month.

I've been making books.

I finished up the Alphabet book and the Counting book and sent them on their way.

And, my favorite so far....A Home for Max

Max looks high and low for a home....and, in the end finds just the right one.

These books are so much fun. I have several patterns and have started on the next one, titled Night Night

But, sad to say, I did not actually finish quilting the UFO for April. It is on the frame, and has a few more rows to go. If I don't get with the program, I will be seriously behind. I hope to catch up in May.
