The last of the Mohicans...

Data, the single guy, is gone. But long live Data, the married guy, the last one of my close kollege friends to tie the knot.

The wedding was quick. Noted one person, "It was about 5 minutes." "...and 43 years," I added. LOL For the record, I am NOT this age. I am still 39.*

The reception was a blast. It really was. It was somewhat ironic--in that we used to drink quite a bit back in the day--and had quite a bit of fun as a result. But alot of us had to drive home to our kids, so we didn't drink that much and more fun than if we had drinks in us. (I know It ain't the alcohol per se.)

I kind of wish we had another wedding to attend soon. But all the Mohicans are married.

* As a reminder, I was to have a 40th BDay celebration at Yankee Stadium last April, but that game was canceled, and I wasn't able to attend a make up game. Thus, I am still one less than the big four-oh.

Turkey stuffing...

So, I was supposed to Istanbul, Turkey this evening. And I packed my bag for my 15 hour stay. But, THANKFULLY, I don't have to go anymore. I was actually looking forward to the trip--but not the return since I had Wed night dinner in Stamford with clients. That would have been dreadful.

I kind of feel bad for my underling. We asked him to go instead--and he was cool with that. It's a good thing he lives hear JFK.

Three

I have 3 kids, 3 cars and for the time being....3 boats. But I sold the Boston Whaler Rage 14 I got last week to my brother, D, so I can keep this 17 ft. Boston Whaler Montauk instead.

When I was a kid, my friend had one (a newer one actually), which we used fishing and water skiing when we weren't on our 16ft runabout. It's a fun boat.

She has many shortcomings--she's open--it's a center console, and she's wet in quartering seas. There's no head (bathroom) unless you bring an empty gatorade bottle. She has limited fuel capacity--usually 12 gallons but up to 27 gallons is possible. The boat gets great gas milage (for a boat) approximately 4-5 mpg. A tank will usually last a weekend of normal use.

The boat can hold 7--but it only has 4 seats, and if 4 guys are aboard, this boat will be crowded. 2 guys is ideal, but 3 is fine.

But why do people put up with her? She's well made. When you polish one up--she'll look brand new. But most importantly, she's unsinkable. You could cut her up in half--and she's still float. (Look at their advertisements.) You could fill her up with water and put 15 people on it--and it won't sink. AND, she has level/positive bouyancy, which means--it stays flat even when swamped, and the motor head stays above water--so you can eventually (in theory) start her. (If the boat is swamped, the battery might not work, which in turn, cause the motor NOT to work. But if you bail her out--dry her out a bit--then it should work.)

Anyhow, I can't wait until summer, when we'll use this boat, which needs a name, to go water skiing or boarding. Start doing situps--it's speedo season and the boat is coming next week!

118 baby!

That's my cholesterol level other number is 53 which I think is good.

So, I am largely relieved.  And like my OS said, "Keep on eating steak and drinking!"

Oh Nurse...

I forgot to mention that I was really surprised a nurse was present. She told me to strip down and my eyes popped out of my head. She noticed my angst and said "Don't worry, I'll leave." But then she busted in when I was half-undressed and said, "Oh, sorry."

But the worst part was when she was putting on all the stickers on me for my very first ever EKG. (er...isn't cardio spelled w/ a c, so shouldn't be an ECG?) I am a bit ticklish--okay VERY ticklelish--and I couldn't sit still. I could barely control my laughter.

In the end though, she was cool. She was very nice.

Doctor, Doctor, don't give me the news..

So, I had my first physical in about 5 years and it wasn't that good.

Lots of things were normal, and butt was fine (haha). BTW, right before THAT happened, the doctor was trying to be funny and asked me, "Are you a Yankee or Met's fan?" which did actually make me laugh.

I wasn't surprised that I have to lose 15lbs in order to in the ok part of the BMI index. But for the first time in my life, I have slightly high blood pressure (138/88). I have been tested every year since my last physical when I give blood, visit doctor friends or family, so this is a new problem. He suggested I give up alcohol too, which is probably a smart thing.

I'm not too optimistic of my cholesterol levels. Last time I was fine--163ish--but if I'm under 200, I'll be happy.

But I'm going to fix myself by June.

You don't bring me flowers...

Last Thursday, my better half got some flowers from a not-so secret admirer :), and when we came home from work (we actually took the train home together for a change), CA saw the flowers and asked, "Are they for me?" My heart dropped and and my lips froze shut. I couldn't think of anything to say, though I should have at least taken one of the flowers and handed it to my daughter.

To make amends however, I picked up some pink carnations last night and presented them to CA. She's quite a ham I must say--but the smile on that girl's face is something I always like seeing.

As an aside, I should plant more flowers at Camp Capio.

---

MJ, upon seeing the Boston Whaler, which is an open boat that is already in our driveway, said, "Where is the cabin? How am I going to take a nap?" He's also tired of winter. He keeps asking us, "Is it spring yet?"

---

The Manhattan scene dating stories I hear are just so funny, though a bit "scary" too. Someone should write a book--it would be quite entertaining. Check out match.com for a few minutes--it's unbelievable how many people are out there JUST in NYC.

Poor M, she has to put up w/ me and ALL my faults/quirks. I'm so glad that it is "until death us do part." hehe. I'd hate to be out there now.

---

My camcorder is broken--and I should get another one soon. The kids are growing up so fast and I'm missing some QT that would make interesting video to watch when I'm 64...

---

The thing about reading books on the train, even if they're only about fishing or baseball, is that I don't read the newspapers as much as I should. So I glance the net, which for me isn't as involving--there is quite a bit going on in our world isn't there. There is something about the clackity-clack on MetroNorth's trains and the Hudson River views that make reading easy for me.

---

I'm getting bored of Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Yowza

I can't believe we're planning another trip to Florida, but it is nice to get the whole crew together. Between work and life, I must go there 5x a year, which isn't that bad. I'm just tired of being in planes at the moment.

---

I have a feeling that being away from our "mother" church will actually be good for our church...I'm just a bit worried about Easter.

---

It's March. That's madness! But March is a done deal for me. Basically, every workday is accounted for already, and every weekend is full.

Project

So, we got another boat--a 14 foot Boston Whaler Rage just like this one. I bought it because it was cheap--the owner is moving from Bedford Hills to Ocean City, MD--and the motor likely does not work. It was not winterized and there is 3 inches of standing water in it. I've already priced new motor for it--but I actually don't know if I'll keep it.

I know that when the kids see it--they'll not want me to sell it. We went to the NY boat show and instead of jumping in the nice 30 and 40 foot boats--they RAN into a similar Boston Whaler and asked us to get it. So stay tuned--and bust out your water skis--it's the perfect boat for that.
