Monty Reid
Winner of the 2007 Lampman-Scott Award for poetry and three-time winner of Alberta’s Stephansson Award for Poetry.

Monty Reid
was born in Saskatchewan, lived for many years in Alberta, and now lives in Ottawa. His recent publications include Disappointment Island (Chaudiere), The Luskville Reductions (Brick), Site Conditions (Apt 9) and a number of chapbooks from the In the Garden project. He has won Alberta’s Stephansson Award for Poetry on three occasions, a national magazine award, and is a three-time nominee for the Governor-General’s Award. Disappointment Island was shortlisted for the City of Ottawa Book Award and won the Lampman-Scott Award for poetry. Best known as a poet, he has also written children’s books, essays, songs, TV and radio scripts and other writings. He plays guitar and mandolin in the band Call Me Katie.

Nina Berkhout
Author of five poetry collections and finalist for the 2011 Archibald Lampman Award.

Nina Berkhout
is originally from Calgary. She is the author of five poetry collections, most recently Elseworlds (Seraphim Editions, 2012) and Arrivals and Departures (Buschek Books, 2010), which was a finalist for the 2011 Archibald Lampman Award for the year’s best poetry by a writer living in the National Capital Region. Her work has also been shortlisted for THIS Magazine’s Great Canadian Literary Hunt and the John Hirsch Award for most promising Manitoba writer. Berkhout holds a degree in Classical Studies from the University of Calgary and a Master’s in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto. She currently lives in Ottawa.

Registration is free


Your poems will be read and discussed in a supportive small-group environment, facilitated by award winning and widely published poet Monty Reid. Participants will be encouraged to provide constructive feedback, and will get a chance to discuss the technical aspects of one another's poems. Once registered, submit up to five pages of poems, two weeks in advance. There will be time for each participant to workshop at least one poem on the day of the workshop.
