Happy Friday!

I know it has been snowing and cold in some parts of the county
Hoping your day will be bright and cheerful
For it is Friday today ;)
I will share my favorite quote
Just to make sure you don't have a day of being grumpy ;)
Everyone have those days...me, too...

"Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love"
By Mother Teresa

Happy Friday
And
Stay Warm!

Wedding Anniversary Gift

Remember I dream of a sun room with old doors and windows?
I found this garden shed in a magazine

I love everything about this garden shed
But the best of thing about this garden shed is

That this garden shed was built by a husband for his wife
As their wedding anniversary gift
Thinking she would love it
Isn't it romantic?

In the past I have told my lovely husband
It is not what you give
But the time you spent thinking about it

I have received gift cards and cash for many birthdays
Which I appreciate very much
And I admit
I went shopping right away as well
But it is hard to find romance in receiving cash

So I am announcing to the whole world
This is the best way of spending that time :)
Working hard in backyard
Building a garden shed for wife :)

Isn't it romantic?

Happy Thursday!!

Thinking Of....Old Doors

Looking at Rachel Ashwell's blog today
Made me want to get more old doors from my neighbor

When I got 2 doors for $20
It looked like this

(Excuse my mess...I had multiple projects going on..)
Unfinished wooden door
That didn't even have a hole for door knob

My lovely neighbor sells all kinds of old doors from home
I am guessing she must be working for a construction company
She has about 20~30 old doors and windows
With wood flames at all time

Someday when we buy a home
I know I will be visiting her
To buy many old french doors and windows
To make a sun room

I added a mirror and appliques to the old door I got
And layers and layers of paint
To make our small cottage look bigger

But looking at Rachel's old doors
Made me want to make a room divider (screens)
With old doors

I just wish I didn't have so many obstacles
Like three lovely young children who love to do hide and seek :)
And a dog
And earthquakes

Happy Wednesday!

Do you have any ongoing project?

Waiting For The Spring

Hello! Tuesday!
My children went back to school today

Although it is sunny outside
And it should warm up in the afternoon
I cannot wait for spring already

I love sun drenched rooms

There is something about sunny spaces
That makes people happy
Are you waiting for the spring?
What are you going to plant for your garden?
Have a happy Tuesday!

So we treated ourselves
For an afternoon of sweets, wine and chai tea

How will you treat yourself today?
Sunday is the day to start a beautiful week
Wish you a wonderful day!

And One More Thrift Find

I saw this old wooden floor lamp last month at a thrift store
But didn't buy it back then
And when I went back
It was still sitting there screaming for me :)
So I took it home...
For $7
It looked like this when I purchased
So I gave a fresh coat of paint to match my cabinet

Anyway,
Happy New Year to you all!!
Are you hitting flea market this weekend?

Few More Thrift Items Added

A few months ago I found this bench at a thrift store
It was so blended in with everything else around it
No one bothered to look at the price tag
It used to look like this
Surrounded by many old pillows
And priced at $20
When I took it home and took faded pink fabric off
There was this really bright mustard color fabric underneath
I suspect it was once a Spanish Hacienda style bench

I painted the wood with antique white paint

And covered the seat with bargain fabric ($5.99/yard)

And while I was at it

I painted another old chair in same paint
And covered the seat with left over fabric to match the bench
So that they can both be in our breakfast area

It has been wonderfully warm and sunny here in LA
Did you have a nice New Year's Day?
Have a wonderful weekend!
