Second card for CCAYR October mid-month inspiration

This is my second design card for the mid-month inspiration for the CCAYR October challenge to use lots of embellishments, with my apologies once again for being so late blogging this. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and you still have plenty of time to join in the challenge here.

The image used for this card was rescued from a card received a year or two ago. The poinsettias were from Hobbycraft and the grosgrain ribbon is some that I've had in my Christmas stash for some time. All papers were from my offcuts box.

CCAYR October mid-month inspiration

Oh dear! I've just realised that I totally forgot to show my design cards for the mid-month inspiration for the CCAYR October challenge to use lots of embellishments. We were having all our carpets up and new flooring put down during the past week and I wasn't able to get to my computer as much as usual, but that's no excuse really because I should have scheduled these posts. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and you still have plenty of time to join in the challenge here.

This is my first card. The lovely wide grosgrain ribbon is some that I've had for some time. The lovely sparkly organza rosettes came from Poundland.

Christmas reindeer

'Christmas reindeer' is the theme that Rita chose for the Christmas Card Club challenge for this fortnight (I apologise to the CCC girls that this is late, but life sometimes gets in the way).

For my card I used a piece of Authentique peaceful paper (I love this paper pad and will be sorry when I've used it all up). The reindeer inked with memento black is one from 'Christmas motives' set by My Paper World. The small round stamp is one of a set of six that I bought recently. Neither of these stamps had been used before, so I'm also adding this card to my own CHNC challenge 199 to 'use something forgotten or never used.

This is my design card for the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 97: fall leaves, week 2. Please click on the link to see the lovely autumnal designs of the rest of the team and join in the challenge here.

The background paper is from the Basic Grey Indian summer paper pad (but I think it has an autumnal look), the middle torn strip being another paper from that pad and the torn piece on the left from Basic Grey pyrus paper pad, both edged with spiced marmalade distress ink and Adironadack espresso. The stamped leaves (My Mind's Eye and a Craft Stamper freebie) were inked with Adirondack espresso, terra cotta, Stazon blazing red and Archival russet. I then added some skeleton leaves and the quote generated on the computer.

Thinking of you

I created the background of this card with pink and purple acrylic paints, scrunching up paper and dabbing on the coated gelli plate and then using a circles mask from Clarity Stamp. The acrylic lace and butterfly stamps are from a set (unfortunately, the pack had got separated from the manufacturers' details, so I don't know who they are by ... if anyone knows, please let me know. The lovely grey  velvet pleats are from Maya Road and the sentiment stamp is Dovecraft.

CHNC challenge 199: Use something forgotten or never used

This is my card for this week's CHNC challenge 199: use something forgotten or never used - if you click the link you can get more info, see the prizes that can be won ... and I hope you will join in the challenge.

I used a Stampotique stamp by Maryse called 'Christmas tree tile' inked with memento cottage ivy. I don't know why, but, despite having had this stamp for some time, I had never actually inked and used it. Somehow it got behind others and just didn't get to see the light of day! I coloured with spectrum noir pens and mounted on to a page out of a story book called The Drgaon in the Christmas Tree written by Patrick W Ledray. I added the stars punched out of gold mirror card, with gold gems added to the centres and to the small stars in the image.

I based my card on the sketch given for Seems a little sketchy 75:

This is a poor photo because of trying to avoid flash light bouncing off the mirror card - a common problem, unfortunately.

This picture taken this morning without flash is a bit better:

Keep it pink

This is my design card for today's Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 51, which is 'anything goes with a twist: add pink'. Please click on the link to see the lovely pink designs of the rest of the team and join in the challenge.

I've used Lacy Sunshine Lizabeth Spring Music kindly supplied by the sponsor. The background paper was a freebie digital one from here (well worth a visit if you haven't come across this before) with the sentiment added digitally.a The image was coloured with spectrum noirs.

This challenge is so appropriate when thinking about Breast Cancer Awareness - thinking of all those who are currently going through treatment (one particular friend in mind, but so many others) and remembering those who are no longer with us.

Completely Christmas 34: sketch

Today's Completely Christmas challenge 34 is a sketch:

Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our challenge. For my design card I used the lovely Stitchy Bears Coosty Creations holly girl kindly supplied by the challenge sponsor, colouring with spectrum noir and mounting on to a snippet piece of paper. I used another snippet strip across the bottom. The 'love' squares were cut from a digital print out from a CD-rom from Ooh-la-la Creations. The background paper is a Hobby House piece that was free with a magazine.

It's hard to see here, but the gold wording on the sentiment is Christmas Time ...

Crafting musketeers colours of autumn challenge

This is my design card for Crafting musketeers: colours of autumn. I'm on team B, so this is for mid-month inspiration. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and click here to join in the challenge.

The challenge is being sponsored by the Hobby House and this is the prize:

I used papers from my offcuts box, tearing and brushing with distress inks - a mix of brushed corduroy, spiced marmalade, fired brick and mustard seed. The embossed panel in the middle was created with floral vine embossing folder run through the eBosser. The leaves are a couple that I've had for ages. The cream blossoms (brushed with distressed inks) and crystal jewels are from the Hobby House.

Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge 97: fall leaves

This is my design card for the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 97: fall leaves. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and we would love you to join in the challenge.

I created a background on watercolour card with some of my new Spectrum Noir AquaTint Inks, stamping the Stampers Anonymous leaf stamp inked with various distress inks - brown corduroy, spiced marmalade, fired brick, sometimes using two or three of the inks together on the stamp.

This was then mounted on to some old gold mirror card and then on to an 8 x 8 card that had been wiped with the distress inks. The 'last butterflies of summer' twill was dusted with the distress inks. Crystal jewels from the Hobby House were added an a DCWV chipboard sentiment panel.

I have to add that, although the Spectrum Noir AquaTint Inks are lovely, I had watched the talented Sheena Douglass using them so easily, but I didn't have the same success. I shall try harder next time.

The glory of Christmas challenge 44: snowman

I apologise to my teamies on the glory of Christmas challenge 44: 'snowman' that I've taken the easy option of sharing some very simple snowmen cards that I made for the 'sell 'em cheap' cards for my charity sale today. I had intended to come home and make a card specially for the glory of Christmas challenge, but, having gone to see mum this afternoon following the sale this morning, I just can't find the energy to make a fresh card. I hope I am forgiven.

For these simple cards pictures from an Art Pad by Lili of the Valley were used.

I hope you will visit the Glory of Christmas challenge 44 to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and we look forward to seeing your snowmen during the next fortnight.

CHNC challenge 198: anything round

I haven't blogged much this week, but that hasn't been because I haven't been crafting, it's because I've been mega crafting in preparation for a sale today to raise money for SAT-7. So I'll be missing for a while today, but back later.

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 198 where I am asking to see something round. I hope you will join in. You can use something round, perhaps buttons, brads - doesn't have to be a shaped card.

I created this scalloped circular card using an svg file from Birds Cards converted to use with the Scan n Cut with their canvas facility. This was cut on the Scan n Cut using DCWV textured cardstock.

The images are Bugaboo Stamps winter circle sentiments - chimney, printing this in four different sizes and then scanning and cutting with the Scan n Cut, colouring the middle one with spectrum noir pens. I just layered these rather than raising up to decoupage, conscious of postage cost being more with thicker cards.

As you can see I wasn't entirely accurate with sticking the circles on the front because you can see bits when opening the card - must remember to check this when I do similar cards.

The card standing open:

Completely Christmas challenge 33: poinsettias

Today's Completely Christmas 33 is all about poinsettias - please click the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team - and we would love you to join in our challenge.

For my design card I used Sparkle n Sprinkle poinsettia kindly given by the sponsor of the challenge. I coloured digitally in Microsoft Paint and then made six different sizes in Microsoft Publisher. I then scanned with my Scan n Cut and then cut them all (much, much quicker than cutting by hand!). I used a couple of spectrum noir pens to go round the edges to give a bit more definition. The washi tapes and ribbon were matted on to a piece of DCWV textured cardstock.

This is my design card for this week's Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 50: anything goes with stripes - please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the other team members and join in our challenge.

I used the digital image Bugaboo Stamps Scarlette - coffee oclock digitally blotting out the left side of the image and digitally adding some marshmallows into the cocoa. I have no idea where the saying came from - it was among my bits and pieces and I thought it was about time I used it. This, the image and the strip down the left side were coloured with spectrum noir pens. The striped papers are from my offcuts box.

WOYWW 279

It's that day of the week when we show our workspaces and have a snoop to see what others are doing - it's WOYWW 279. Why not click the link and join in!

I'm doing a charity sale at friends' house on Saturday, so I've been busy getting ready for it. On the left you can see a box full of Christmas cards and there are still two piles of them that need to have inserts and bagged and labelled. Boxes ready for Saturday tend to get scattered around as I have three boxes ready on the dining table.

There are also piles of other cards waiting for attention, including an anniversary card that needs to be written and posted.

There isn't so much to the right of where I sit - mainly because I need to use the Scan n Cut in a while and it won't be so much to move - a couple of small piles of cards to be bagged up and in the far corner sticky notes ready to have their covers put on - easy to cut the covers on the Scan n Cut using offcuts of card that are scanned in first to be able to position where I want to cut - and much more accurate than using the guillotine. The Scan n Cut will, of course be moved forward and away from the curtain when I use it ... which must be soon!

Incidentally, my mouse mat is a pad of paper - I bought it from Wilkinson's a while ago - it was done up in cellophane and labelled as a 'mouse mat' so I didn't realise it was a pad of paper till I undid it. But, oh, how useful it is - I can jot things down on it, try out stamps on it ... and when it's too grubby, just tear a sheet off and I have a fresh clean start again. And, surprisingly, it does act well as a mouse mat - the mouse glides on it perfectly. And, as a bonus, I keep promising myself that I'll use one of the papers for a male card (I bought some other matching stuff at the same time, but still haven't used it) - too many ideas, too little time!

I must get going with getting these jobs done ... but first, a cup of coffee.

Thank you, everyone who visited and left comments last week - much appreciated.
