My Mom's 50th

Party in the making...
In May my mom had her 50th Birthday so Ang and I decided to "Go big or Go Home" (is that even a saying anymore???) Anywho, we wanted to do an Extra Special Birthday Celebration since its kind of a big number and of course for a Really Special person! So we went to planning and decided we had to make it a surprise and try to catch her off guard. So here is how the story went...

The first BIG project I was in charge of was a GIANT 50 collage that I saw a picture of on Pinterest (Love that Site) but I was bummed because they didn't give instructions on how to make it so we had to get creative and figure out how to attach all the pieces together and be able to take it apart for transport. It ended up being a little harder than expected but with help from my sweet cousin Jessica and Aunt Steph we pulled in off! It turned out AWESOME! It basically started with her baby pics and went all through the years, it was pretty neat to look back over all the highlights in her life!

Next project was the cake... Oh deary the cake
Ang kept telling me to stop being cheap and just have a professional make it but I thought it would be more fun and mean more if I did it myself, so Berkley and I got to work :) Oh and a little FYI for you future cake decorators it was NOT less expensive to make it on your own! First time ever working with Fondant and wow was it a TASK! I have a new found respect for you cake peeps out there and the art of making it look smooth! We had lots of trial and error, but with little tips from my bestie Ashley and her yummy cake and icing recipes we pulled it off... 13 hrs later!!!

And here is the Toilet Masterpiece, don't look too close :)

Onto the Decorating...

Homemade Caramel Suckers
These two little rascals practicing for the BIG Surprise :)

Everyone hard at work to get everything done before she got there.

50th Continued

Almost all ready

Our Baby Helpers!

Getting SO Excited to jump out and Yell Surprise on Cue, they did SO good at staying quiet for a good minute or two... Impressive!
And THIS is what was waiting for her as she walked in to hear a loud "SURPRISE" I was a little nervous we were going to give her a mini heart attack, but she stayed strong and took it like a Champ :)
So Tom did an Amazing job at getting her to actually leave the house and head to Richfield for a few hours while we had to all sneak back to her house and get dinner started and all the decor in its place! He told us he would have her home at 5 so we had my Uncle Scott on the lookout to see them coming down the road. Brady was in charge of hiding the vehicles and Adam and Jarad were on the Dutch Oven! All of my moms sweet sisters were able to come and they and their girls all pitched in and helped a TON to make sure we were ready on time and sure enough right when we decided it all looked great Scott sounded the alarm and we were off to our positions for when she came in the back door!

The Birthday girl taking it all in :)

I don't know what I would ever do without her! So lucky to have an amazing mom who would without a doubt do ANYTHING for any of us. She is Smart, Witty, an unbelievably hard worker, So Positive about life, Beautiful, thoughtful, Hilarious, loves to spoil, appreciates the little things in life, and is one of my Best Friends! She has had lots of trials in her life and has taken only the positive and pushed through all the crap and always has a smile on her face. She has a motto that I love and try to live by, she always says "When life gets tough, GET TO WORK! Get out and break a sweat and bury your head in work and keep busy, the rest will work itself out." I love that we talk almost daily on the phone, most days about nothing but to me its something! I Love to see that she is Happy and can't wait to get her again on her 60th :)

Berkley meeting her Great Grandma Bagley, this picture is so sweet!
And let the Party Begin...
"Happy Birthday to You"

Kisses for the Birthday Girl!
Her brother Scott wrote a Hilarious Poem about her, So Sweet! He had us all rolling with laughter and wiping our tears, it was the cutest!

This is what the plunger to the cake looked like at the after party once Alayna decided it looked yummy and took a big bite :) Poor thing, I couldn't get that nasty orange color just right with the food coloring so I had to resort to a little spray paint... Oops, Sorry Ang for poisoning your child :)

They are too cute! So glad he makes her so happy :)

Summer Swims

-Our little Fish-

Berkley has loved every minute at the pool this summer. We have enjoyed lots of shade time, gone through bottles of SPF, bought way too many baby swimsuits, and splashed until Mommy can't splash anymore! I've really enjoyed my 1st summer as a Mom and even though times got tough here and there doing the whole "single mom" thing for a few months and trying to take care of house and baby while Derrik works, I feel like I have been WAY too lucky with such a sweet little thing to spend all my days with. She really has been the best baby ever and I'm sure there are a few of you reading laughing and saying just you wait for number two. Well I to am doing the same thing, we are already Scared for the next ones in line behind her because she has set the bar so high. We have been fortunate to travel all over the states this summer and see so many amazing sights ( posts to come later) and she hasn't given us one sleepless night in all the random places she falls asleep and wakes up at. Every plane ride, shopping trip, and tourist attraction etc she has been all smiles and never has led me to pulling my hair out... Close? YES, but not quite;)
