Remember talk show host John Ziegler? He was on KFI from 7pm-10pm Monday thru Friday before " mutually agreeing" to quit towards the end of last year. Apparently John & Ken are evil and contributed to the derailment of Ziegler's career. More on Ziegler later, but check out his new website:

What a gorgeous day today, about 78 degrees:) I find that gazing at the moon in January is best done in bright sunlight. It may be only a sliver of the moon, but nonetheless refreshing considering I've been trapped inside attempting to stay dry most of last week.
I attended funeral services on Friday for George Stewart. He wrote for the Tustin News for 18 years and had a weekly column, "Two Cents." Just another reminder of how short life can be, he was only 57. George was very nice to me in print when I ran for Governor. He was really into writing about politics and not afraid to call politicos out when he smelled BS. I guess I got lucky being that I knew little about either at the time. I didn't know him real well but I have friends that he was close to. Most of those friends congregated at Kelly's Men's Shop in Tustin. They spoke of what a great friend they will miss dearly. They are fun bunch of cigar smoking, red wine & whiskey drinking, philosophers of politics and history. It was a nice gathering at Kelly's after the services of which, as George always ended his column........ "It's to Laugh."
I wanted to share his words as printed on the back of the program:
Self- Sacrifice
by George O. Stewart
I hope the repercussions of my life resound
Forever in the hearts of those
Whom I have moved,
Like the fading ripples caused
By the movement of my slowly sinking flesh.
I, who only sat with faith
And sacrificed my power to be kind,
Dare to want to linger here
Through that which I achieved.
In the drowning of my body die my thoughts,
Yet death of this so briefly thinking me
Means only that which I have done.
And so I'll die as I have lived,
Hoping that my dying cries
Will echo in some other
Hopeful, dying hearts than mine.

Thinking that I had no New Year's resolutions........ I was wrong. I resolve to keep my blog updated this year. The next step is to actually get my website up to date. I'm pretty sure that there is a tech-conspiracy against me. I got a new phone and a new Garmin recently, both prove to be frustrating at best! My myspace locked me out just like my website did. My new myspace locked me out for a good month. W! Or WUV I'm told is the proper "Whatever" spelling. WUV!
I think I need my own personal IT geek. Hmm... another resolution in the works.

Ahh... a New Year! I just spent the first week watching the History channel til 3am, sleeping til noon, and oblivious to the outside World. In otherwords, I've been sick in bed. I'm feeling much better finally, I just needed a week to recover from 2007. The Holidays really took it's toll on me. I stood still for a few minutes on the first and everything caught up with me. I didn't have time to relax at the end of 2007, so I guess it worked out ok:)
As for the TV aspect, at least Jay Leno came back on the air. The History channel is very interesting. A big asteriod will destroy the earth in 2029, the Universe started as less then an atom before expanding, the ice-age killed off the dinosaurs- caused by the asteriod that crashed into the earth thus causing fires that blocked out the sun, which in turn caused the ice-age. That about covers it. Oh, except now I need to buy that miracle saw that won't cut your fingers but will cut through pipes. And worm holes will be used for time travel....... as soon as we can find one, or prove that they exist..... by finding one?

My Dad would've been 66 years old today if he had not passed away back in 1991. I miss him everyday- still.
"Happy Birthday Dad! I know you're always watching over me somehow."
I just got back from Paris ( yeah, the one in France.) Surprised? Me too....... I thought I was going to Vegas. That will teach me not to nod off on an airplane! Okay, just kidding:) Anyway, for some reason I was not able to blog in Paris. Every time I switched blogger to the English version it just froze up. Weird.
I was certain I would not like Paris. I don't speak French, I didn't care to learn, and I certainly had enough encounters with French tourists here in the OC to not want to visit them in their own country. I couldn't have been more wrong! It was cold , rainy, windy, yet beautiful. I had dinner at the Eiffel tower. I stared in disbelief at the works of Van Gogh, Monet, and Cezanne at the Musee d'Orsay. I photographed the wondrous sites floating down the Seine river. Did you know that Notre-Dame isn't just a football team? The flying buttresses were amazing! I have to go back when it's warm to see more of the city, it's history, and the amazing architecture. I didn't get to visit the Louvre because the train workers went on strike. Apparently people don't want to work there, at least not over 35 hours a week, with 5 weeks minimum vacation, and not after they turn 50. Guess they just want to walk around the beautiful gardens and paint.
"Au revoir!"

For those of you with a lot of free time, here's the link to a copy of the actual unsealed indictment of Corona & Gang:

http://www.ocblog.net/ocblog/files/carona_indictment_paper.pdf
It was a long morning reading all the dirt on sheriff Corona in today's OC Register. What a mess! Talk about a scary Halloween day! How many black cats must have run across Corona's path while he was walking under ladders, holding an open umbrella inside!? He isn't stepping down without a fight apparently. Great, we are a County with a sheriff that had to take his wife and assumed long-term, married, girlfriend ( ok, the term was "mistress," whatever,)and turn themselves in to federal authorities this morning. Basically he needed to arrest himself! All this looks so bad, it doesn't help things with our local OCGOP either. I was an alternate on Central Committee for Tim Whiticare when the big endorsement flap was going on. One meeting they voted to not endorse Corona because of the once-upon-a-time rule of not endorsing one Republican over another in a primary. Then the next meeting they suspended the rules to go ahead and endorse Corona. Tim stood up against the endorsement, even filing a lawsuit against the OCGOP! He took a lot of heat for standing on principle. Now we can understand why Tim worked so hard to get Lt. Bill Hunt elected as Sheriff. I think he'd make an excellent choice to fill in if for some reason later down the road Corona feels the need to step down:)
Supervisor John Moorlach said Corona should resign. Actually John has had quite the year battling the sheriff's unions over pensions and retirement issues. Then his replacement for OC Tax Collector( I think he preferred Treasurer...again, whatever-I know who's name was on my property tax bills!!), Chris Street, came under fire for a bunch of crap I don't care to get into. Politics are such an interesting soap opera. I like John, he was an excellent speaker two years ago at our TARWF (Tustin Area Republican Women Federated)annual fundraiser. He knows what he's talking about and is trying to prevent us from becoming like San Diego, or "Enron by the Sea" as he put it.
Our speaker this year is Tom Del Beccaro, Vice Chair of CA Republican party. If you haven't been to his website yet, I suggest you check it out:
www.politicalvanguard.com
He has a book coming out "The New Conservative Paradigm" on Nov. 13th. Just in time for our fundraiser:) I've had the pleasure of hearing him speak on several occasions and he does a great job educating, explaining, and offering solutions on keeping our Republican party headed in the Right direction. You can request Tom as a speaker for your event through his website.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It's time to dive back into the political scene again. So much is going on here in Orange County. Sheriff Corona was indicted today on several charges including taking cash & gifts. I think his wife and girlfriend were as well? This is where I get to insert a huge "I TOLD YOU SO!" That's why I supported Lt.Bill Hunt for Sheriff in the last election. Bill is a great guy that deserves to be our Sheriff. We had a dart tournament fundraiser for him at my bar, he is such a down-to-earth guy. It was so disappointing on election night when the results came in. Corona immediately demoted Bill for speaking out against him! Now the bumper stickers make even more sense "Restore Integrity And Trust!"
The wealthy Don Haidl was funneling money into Corona's campaign. Haidl's son, Greg, is currently serving time for raping ( and they video-taped it... a new standard for stupidity,) a woman in 2002. It gets better, Haidl was an assistant sheriff to Corona. Oh, and another assistant, George Jaramillo, is sitting in jail after pleading guilty to federal tax evasion and mail fraud back in March. Corona fired him in 2004 because he was being investigated for among other things..... interfering with the sexual assault investigation involving Greg Haidl. Nice circle of friends huh?
I don't personally know any of the bad guys in this story. The only person I met was Don Haidl's personal Chef and assistant, Marshall ( at least that's what he said he was,) at Chat Noir. He saved me from being hit on by the old men at the bar:)
Is anyone working on the screenplay yet?

Spent the day cleaning up ash in the back yard. We finally got some real sunlight today:) I'll have to try washing my truck tomorrow, good thing it's already gray!
I have to get some of the pics up from my trips this summer before it actually turns into 2008. As we get older time just can't be caught up with- why is that? I remember the last time I was actually BORED. It was in Ohio in the summer sometime in the 80's! I guess that means I need to slow down. Well see on that one...
