Park Day Sunday

It's actually been a fairly glorious almost spring.  I say that knowing that actual spring will probably stink.  But, since we had a nice day we decided hit the park.  Ben actually begged us to do it.  Since he's 15 and wants to do things with the family still, I decided to accommodate him and have a little fun.   Of course we took Gracie, who had as much fun as the kids did tearing through the park and then turning on her back for some belly scratchin'.   I love days like this. :)

Neymar Jr.

I've been around the elementary school block a time or two.  In fact, I've been through 3rd grade 4 times already, five if you count my own experience.  So, when Jake came home with the "wax museum" assignment, I was already prepared.  I "guided" him to choose a person he already had a costume for and then I pulled out my kindle and found the most age appropriate book I could find.  Jake wanted to do Lionel Messi, but his friend Jaren already had chosen him.  So, since Scott had gotten a Neymar Jr. jersey for his birthday, the next best thing was Neymar.  Jake read the book, took his notes, typed out a 2-paragraph report and made his poster.  I was really proud of how little work I actually had to do.  He did a good job.  Today was his wax museum.  Avery and I braved the rain and wind to walk through the gym and see all the Betsy Rosses, Neil Armstrongs and Pocahontases.    Jake was the only Neymar in the whole 3rd grade.  And, of course, the cutest kid there. ;)

Hahaha- I just looked at my last post and realized Scott is wearing the jersey.  Talk about a lazy mom. :)

"Job Shadowing"

Ben had the day off of school today.  The juniors were taking the ACT so they wanted sophomores and seniors out of the school so they wouldn't disturb the test takers.  It was suggested that the seniors visit a college campus and the sophomores job shadow somebody.  I'd like a raise of hands of any of those kids who actually did those things.  Nothing?  Hmmmm.  Ben took the opportunity to sleep in until 9:15 when Avery woke him up for a breakfast date at Kneaders.  When we got there we saw that a lot of the seniors must have thought that Kneaders was a college campus- because they were all there. :)  Anyhow, fun times with Ben home.  The highlight was when I said something about getting Avery home to get ready for school and Ben was genuinely surprised that she was in kindergarten.  Maybe he's a little teenager-y self obsessed if he doesn't even know his sister is in school.  Just maybe.
ps- Ben had to cut his hair for baseball.  I think it makes him look so much younger.
