trinkets!
i'm not a big jewelry wearer (i prefer scarves) so ever so often i have the arduous task of dusting all my trinkets,
i like to display them in my various platters according to their colours, they look so pretty!
i love the 2 vintage scales, i like the bright cheery colours and the different shaped dials,
they look very happy in my kitchen!

happy weekend!
have a happy weekend !
it's my birthday tomorrow! it's my sister jutta's birthday today! we are the same age for one day in the year!
i delivered her my gift today and she couldn't resist showing me one of her presents to me,
a fabulous genuine 1950's blue polka dot sun umbrella,
she knows me so well, i LOVE polka dots, their so cheery, in fact i am wearing a bright red polka dot as i write this!
don't you love the inside of an old fashioned yellow rose blooming in my garden and as for the little bird!
the pear and apple birds are a work in progress, i'll show you the finished results next week!
till then...!i just received a question about the bird from,www.jenniferakkermans.com
it's made out of a combination of stiff dried brush, cut down feathers and very thinly sliced bark segments, lovely isn't it,
if you live in New Zealand, they are available at the California garden centers.

new camera!
how exciting! i have a new camera,
the think i love the most is the fab macro to take close ups,
the very heart of a flower is often the most stunning,
even ones like the common lavender are so pretty close up.

there once was a man.....
i'm not sure what has gotten over me but ever since i returned from overseas, i've had the urge to create designs with a strong "quirky" factor,
i certainly had fun with these!
they are off to a solander gallery exhibition, let's see if they sell!

we stopped of in christchurch on our way back to see our good friends.
helen is my oldest and dearest friend, i have known here since i was 13 years old, she was keen to show me a super cute dress her talented sister had made her out of a vintage curtain, i love the way she has kept the tape along the top and has added the doilys, i would love one for myself, groovy fabric is becoming very hard to find here in new zealand.
helens husband maurice who is a talented photographer is just like me in that he loves collecting groovy fabrics and ceramics from the 50's and 60's, this is a particularly lovely one, i'm inspired by the colours and gorgeous shapes.
finally, we had a few minutes in the airport and i was browsing in a really nice shop when i happened to see my art works on sale!
anyway, i must continue,...work to do!

i have returned!
safe and sound, what a wonderful experience!
as you know, i love colour and i soon discovered that the people in asia do too, whether it be their food, clothing or flowers and plants there is an abundance of joyful vibrancy. it overshadows their lack of wealth. another thing that struck me in bali was the incredible caos and the ability for the balinese to juggle it in the calmest way, they simply dont get wound up! i think we could learn a thing or too!
kuala lumpur was my favorite city, i can thoroughly recommend it if you don't want to hang about with fellow tourists, we spent hours simply wandering through the various districts, little china, little india the impressive malls selling all the big names, it has character and is not as slick as singopore.
we where constantly blown away by how reasonably priced everything is, a couple of dollars for the most delicious meal, we preferred to eat local and luckily didn't suffer the consequences! it was an amazing eye opening experience for my boys too, they learned first hand that there is a whole very different world out there, some of it fabulous some of it not so, i think they will look at their little world here in new zealand in perspective too, i am keen to get back into creating so i will be working on some new etsy art amongst other projects so watch this space!
(i am also delaying my next lucky draw till i have the new work up)
