Adventure Awaits {Baby}

Hello and welcome! I'm sharing some fun non-traditional baby ideas using lots of different travel themed products from over the years. This is a "for me" post so I don't forget some of the ideas, but hopefully it will give you some inspiration as well. My friend's daughter had her first baby, and my friend's first grandbaby, so I wanted to get a gift put together. I have really been enjoying packaging up baby gifts in suitcases, but I haven't done a boy gift before, so this one was really fun! When I went shopping for some outfits, I came across some airplane themed items, so that made it even more fun!

For the card, I used the Going Places stamp set and the coordinating Going Places Die along with some older, but unfortunately retired, stamps and dies. I asked Julie if she would consider creating a baby version of the Going Places stamp set, so that might be fun to see come about.  I told her how much fun I've been having packaging up baby gifts in suitcases and how much fun that would be to have!

A package of diapers would ruin the aesthetic of my gift, so instead, I decided to make the Vintage Travel Suitcase Die to add a gift card to the grocery store so the new mom could get diapers and wipes, or anything she needs, really! The sentiment on the tag is from the Baby Elephant Stamp Set, which is one of my favorite baby sentiments. I added some images from the Going Places stamp set and the luggage tag itself is from the Going Places die (linked earlier). The heart was leftover from the 3-D plane from the retired Valentine's Day Love You to Pieces collection from Papertrey Ink.

I also made a few other little suitcases (not knowing exactly how I would use them) from the Holiday Hatchback: Luggage Die. I decided to just to add them to the front of the larger suitcase.

The plane and clouds on the card are also from the retired Love You to Pieces stamp/die set and the photo corners are from the retired Fairytale Christmas stamp set.

The finishing touch is a plane that I added to a Tim Holtz tag using foam squares and liquid glue. I will use this tag to tie around the bow and cellophane wrap to put it all together.
I tucked everything into the suitcase...the flap of the suitcase will be up when the gift is wrapped in cellophane. You can see one of the inspiration outfits tucked on the right.

I hope the new mom enjoys her gift! I had so much fun putting it together! Thanks for fluttering by!

Papertrey Ink July Release Countdown Day 4

Well friends, it's the 4th and final day of the Papertrey Ink July release countdown! I have 3 projects to share with you today using the fun new Going Places stamp set and dies! My first project is inspired by a few destination wedding ideas I had saved on Pinterest and I really like how it turned out.

I created a passport style card to tuck in the outer pocket that is also decorated with images from the Going Places stamp set.

The pocket portion is created using the In the Pocket Die; I die cut all of the pieces from Spring Rain cardstock. I used the new Adventure Away Hot Foil Plate on the inner pierced piece for a fun look when the recipient pulls the passport-style card out of the pocket.

This is what it looks like with the card tucked inside.

The compass from the Adventure Away stamp set is embossed in gold and then die cut using the coordinating die.

I chose to use Encore Ultimate Metallic Silver ink for the "Adventure Awaits" and the sentiment on the bottom for added interest.

I'm absolutely in love with all of the stamps and dies from the Going Places stamp set!

For my next project, I made a cute box using the Vintage Travel Suitcase Dies that were released a few years ago. I actually took that month off so this is the first time I've ever used it! It's so cute!

I created a few tags using the Going Places stamp/die set to accent the case.

I used mini gold brad to secure the handle on the top!

I had a leftover flower from yesterday's bride-to-be card that is the perfect addition!

My third and final project for today is a card using the Going Places stamp set paired with the World Map Stencil collection.

I ended up by covering up more of the map than I was planning on, but to begin, I added some Salvaged Patina Distress ink to the edges of an A2 sized panel. I then gave it a few good spritzes of Salvaged Patina Distress Spray Stain. Once that was done, I used Mowed Lawn distress oxide ink to stencil the map.

I had fun making a few tags to accent the map.

My card also features the new Circular Postage dies. I plan on using these quite a bit, I can already tell!

Thanks for fluttering by!

Papertrey Ink July Release Countdown Day 2

It's day 2 of the Papertrey Ink July release countdown! Thank you so much for your sweet comments on yesterday's post! I have two cards to share with you today using some fun new products! My first card showcases the new Adventure Away Stamp/Die set paired with a fun new stencil collection called Incredible Views.

To begin, I used the stencil collection to build the scene using a sunset color combination. These stencils are very easy to use and create a stunning background in no time!

I stamped the compass image directly onto the panel to give a transparent look because I didn't want to cover up the gorgeous landscape. There is a coordinating Adventure Away Hot Foil Plate (you can see it in the upper right corner of the photo), but I didn't end up using it on this card.

The RV is a line-art image so I added some alcohol marker color. I like that the sentiments have coordinating dies so layer the sentiment portion.

I can't stop with the acetate sentiment overlay! ha ha! This card features the new Cornered: Celestial dies in the upper left corner and lower right corner.

To begin this card, I used Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, and Unchartered Mariner Distress Oxide inks to blend on an A2 panel of white cardstock. Once that was done, I used the Stargazing Hot Foil Plate and gold foil over the top. I also splattered the panel with metallic watercolor paint for added depth.

Once the panel was complete, I used the Cornered: Celestial Dies and then layered the panel on top of an A2 white card base.

I die cut the stars using the Starry Delight Die from gold metallic cardstock and then added them to the blended panel using foam squares.

I chose to use the Psalm Reflections: September stamp set on an acetate panel like I did on yesterday's card. I stamped it using Jet Black StazOn Ink on a piece of acetate and then added glue strategically to the back of some of the letters that would touch one of the stars. I placed a large acrylic block over the top and let it set. I also added quite a few sequins for added sparkle and shine! Thanks for fluttering by!

Papertrey Ink June Release Countdown Day 1

Hello and welcome to day 1 of the June release countdown from Papertrey Ink! This is such a fun release just jam-packed with all things summer and travel; you're going to fall in love! My first card is actually a card and gift card holder all in one! I used the adorable new Go-T0 Gift Card Holder: Beach Bag and all of the adorable accessories for this card!

As much as I love all things bright and tropical for summer, I just couldn't resist doing something a little more sophisticated for this project. I chose Kraft, black, white, and aqua for my color scheme to keep things consistent!

I also used the new Just Sentiments: Days of Summer sentiment set to accent this card; I absolutely love using flip-flops in my summer crafting and so I was thrilled to use this cute sentiment!

You can see how the bag opens up so you can slide a gift card into the die cut slots; I chose Baskin Robins because it's the perfect summer treat!

My next card features the adorable new Tuck It: Travel stamp/die set. I am absolutely smitten with all of the cute images included in this set; I mean, come on, a tiny Big Ben and Eiffel Tower? Absolutely adorable!!!!

I actually stamped two of everything so you might see these cute images on another card before the countdown is over! ha ha!

I chose to use ALL of the images and tucked them into the previously released slot that was die cut using the Tuck It Sentiment dies.

I had so much fun putting this card together....now...who is going on an adventure???? ha ha!
