New beds

When I went to IKEA I bought a bunk bed for the boys to share in the future. My friend Liesl helped me stain and finish it. It took my a while especially since Ben would bug me about his new bed, and then we would go to work on it and he wanted me in his sight. I ended up going at night after the boys were asleep in order to be able get it done. Saturday we finally got it built. Yay! Ben was so excited to sleep on it. We decided that if we were bumping Ben up, we might as well put the crib away and let Gavin have the toddler bed. Gavin wanted the bunkbed also, but he is sleeping in the toddler bed now. Well lets just say he starts the night out in his bed. he rolls off and on to the extra matress that we have put next to his bed, and finally ends up on the floor. He didn't scream at all last night and was content to sleep on the floor for a while. He ended up by the closet doors after a while. I hope he will learn soon to stay on his bed. I knew it would be a rough few nights, it is getting better. I think the bed turned out nice.

Swimming pool

At our apartment we have swimming pool. The boys have enjoyed the pool. Gavin at first had a hard time. He would not get in. I wonder if he thought to water was too cold. He has finally enjoyed going in, and pushing David under. Ben also has liked the pool. He is a regular fish now.

I can't even stay next to him. He will push me away, and just kick and swim, swim, swim. He begs to go to the pool quite often. Both of them like jumping into the pool. The first time Gavin jumped in, he would not let me catch him, it had to be daddy. David has tricked Ben to jump in by himself a few times. He ends up with wet hair and water dripping down his face, but he has fun.

I have a few videos of them jumping in, but it will have to wait. My computer keeps going to a blue screen and I have to be faster then it right now. I tried before, but my computer had troubles.

My Kitchen Cupboards

Above my kitchen cupboards it has been bare, except for David putting food or something else up there. To me it was bare and ugly. I thought, I want to decorate, but I don't have any money to do what I want. I was recently at a friends house and she repainted, and put up stuff she already had. Now a few days later and thinking, now what do I have. I started going through boxes. I remembered dish cloths that my mom made for me. They're cute, but not really practical as a drying cloth. I found plates, bowls, and mugs I didn't remember having. And lots of glass stuff I have not used, but have kept for some odd reason. As I pulled out more stuff, I found more and more things to put above my cupboards. Now it looks pretty and more bearable to live hear a little bit longer. I now also have more space in my closet to use for food storage. I did not spend money on anything yet (there are a few things I want to get to complete that space), but I feel blessed for using what I already had, and not spending much money. My boys weren't too happy that my attention was elsewhere, but they survived. I still have some teaking to do, but it isn't an eyesore there anymore.

IKEA

Saturday was the first time I went to IKEA. I have a Friend that just loves that store. A lot of what she has in her house comes from IKEA. She has talked about so much I wanted to see what the store is all about. I have decided I like their furniture a lot, at least most things. We went through it quickly, I would have liked to taken everything in, but at the same time, by the end it was sensory overload. I ended up picking up a bunk bed for the boys to grow into. I would eventually like to get a dresser from there and maybe end up decorating some of my place. For now I will be content with what we have, and hope in the future we will have a little more income.

4th of July

We had so much fun on the 4th. We went to a ward member's house, where the ward activity was held. They put up a zip line, had a water slide, and lots of other games to play. Later that evening we had met some friends to see the city fireworks. The fire works were a dissappointment. It was a shorter show. But the boys had fun playing together. We got there extra early while it was still light outside. David, Ben, I and Gavin all had fun throwing frizbee's around. David ended up throwing it staight at Ben. Ben didn't catch it, but it did give him a nice shiner under his eye. After Ben got hurt and stopped crying I asked if he wanted to sit down with me, or tell me what he wanted to do. He said he wanted to play frizbee more. Whenever David threw the frizbee toward Ben, Ben would run away from it. The boys had fun with glow sticks and sparklers, and especially their friends. When the fireworks show was going off, Ben didn't want to sit by us, he wanted to sit by his friends.
