Circinae Shawl by Carissa Browning in Mad Tosh Merino Light! Although the pattern originally caught my attention because it would be great for a gradient skein, it works up 💯 in solid colors, too! As far as two-color brioche patterns go, this one is very straightforward and easy to customize for various yarn weights and yardages, so I would recommend it if you’ve always wanted to try two-color brioche but have been afraid to do so! I love the wing-like shape and the scalloped edge, and of course two-color brioche looks amazing on both sides of the fabric!

One thing off the needles, and the next one immediately cast on! I don’t make up the rules!!

I recently found out that a coworker is expecting a baby. This coworker is remote to me and I see her only through Zoom, so it was quite close to her due date when I found out these exciting news! A quick little baby sweater was in order! I knit the Hyphen sweater by Lisa Chemery / Frogginette, which was already in my library from a while ago. Of course (of course!) I knit it in Berroco Vintage, which is my go-to for baby knits (and other knits as well). It is soft, knits up reliably, washes beautifully, and comes in every color under the sun. In fact, I had enough leftovers of this particular color (51176 / Fuchsia) in my stash from previous projects (swipe to see) to start and finish in no time!

Start the New Year with the Textured Pops shawl, knit in Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light! Yes, this is the outcome of that “mystery” OOAK skein that I bought back in September. When life hands you a half-brown, half-turquoise skein, you make it into a pattern! The Textured Pops pattern is perfect for showing off your variegated yarns without worrying about pooling. In fact, the various color combinations of textured pops and the strands that connect them are half the fun of this project! The tiny textured pops are created with simple increases and decreases, and add an amazing dimension, thickness, and squishiness to the fabric. The wrong side of the fabric has equally beautiful textured stripes. I’ll mention some basics of the pattern below, but please visit Ravelry (or click the link in my profile) for all the details. It’s a super simple, 2-page pattern, so you can dive right in... I’m sure you already have the yarn for it in your stash!

Happy New Year! The end of the year allowed me to wrap up a number of WIPs, and I’m going to start the FO Parade with 2 pairs of socks! The absolutely 🤩stunning🤩 yarn is from Skein Yarn in Australia, colorways Bloom and Sushi. The base is 2-ply 80/20 SWM/nylon, and has that beaded look that I love so much. I jazzed things up a bit by working a bifurcated short row heel, as described in Holli Yeoh’s Over Easy Socks. This makes for a very roomy heel with plenty of room in the instep! I was able to get two pairs of shortie crew socks (to fit about a US 7.5-8 shoe size) out of a full skein of Bloom and less than 1/2 a skein of sushi!

💙Then and Now!🖤 After 9 years (holy moly!) of rocking my blue Fuego hat, I decided to knit a second one, this time in 100% black! 🖤🖤🖤 The Fuego hat is, by far, my best-fitting and most-worn handknit hat, so I didn’t mess with what works and once again used Berroco Vintage yarn and didn’t modify the pattern one bit. It will be great to have two Fuego hats to choose from now!

For Christmas, I sewed two aprons for my mom! She’s been wanting some aprons which don’t hang from her neck but rather have straps that go down or across the back, and I happened to have these patterns in my stash from almost 20 years ago (!!) that fit the bill!
