Peyton's world....how I would love to insert myself in that cute little brain to understand how it works. Most of the time it leaves me laughing to myself...and other times speechless.
In an earlier post he had an obsession with Home Alone. He thought he was Kevin. If I ever asked him to do something and used his given name he would then promptly tell me to call him "Kevin". Allrighty then. After the Kevin phase we moved on to superheroes. He was Spiderman, aka Peter Parker. Bryan's sister was Mary Jane, his mom was Aunt Mae, and his dad was Uncle Ben. Kael got to be in on the fun too, he was Batman. When we were in Utah and were visiting Bryan's family he would not refer to Bryan's sister {jana}, he would actually use the name Mary Jane and called his mom Aunt Mae.
And.....now we have moved onto Star Wars, like I have said before, neither Bryan or I were into Star Wars when we were younger so we are both learning. He is now a Jedi. Most of the time he is "the little boy Annekin", as he likes to call himself. And yes, I have to refer to him as Annekin. {sigh} We currently have 7 light sabers, 4 costumes {1 of which I forgot to give him for christmas...oops}, and about 90 Star Wars figurines!! It is Star Wars Mania at our house!!

Do you see that light saber in the right hand? We have to bring that EVERYWHERE! It is always hooked on his pocket. He tells me that he has to bring it with us, "just in case Darth Vader shows up where we go." :)
And today...trying to use the force on me after I told him that he needed to go to timeout for hitting his brother with a light saber. Lets just say the force didn't work....maybe next time.
I love that he thinks that he really has the force...because he really does believe that. It's so hard to tell a little one that these things don't really exist. I had to break his heart the other day after he got into trouble at preschool. He scratched a little boy on the face..Peyton says that he was in the corner of the room and the little guy wouldn't move...so he scratched his face. I asked him why he scratched his face and he told me, "because I thought that he was trying to steal my Spiderman powers." I then had to explain to him that we can't scratch our friends and that Spiderman isn't real....just pretend. That word pretend crushed his heart. With little tears filling his eyes he said, "He is real, Mom! He has to be real." My heart was breaking, he genuinely believed that there was a man dressed up in a Spiderman suit slinging his webs from building to building in New York City. :( It was so sad.
I know it is only a matter of time before his imagination eases up a little bit, so right now I am trying to soak up every minute of it......even if I have to call my child Annekin.
