Day 3 with Becca Feeken- Ready-to-Go Card Kit

Today Becca has the perfect solution for how you can get organized and really have a JustRite Stash of Cards designed in this easy to make - Ready-to-Go Card kit. We can all only aspire to be this organized!! Becca your Project Rocks!! Thanks for sharing it with us!!

JustRite Red Ready-to-Go Card Kit

I am seriously one of those persons who makes cards but never has any simple cards to send. Some time ago I put together a kit of blank cards and medallions stamped with different occasions – all I had to do was pick my card then pick my medallion . . .Easy!! I used them up quickly, so that kit has long been gone; it was one of my most favorite projects. So I basically recreated that kit again. I chose the colors red, cream and black to do the card set, mostly dictated by the basket they’ll be kept in.

I made four sets of very generic cards with low profiles so that they could fit in my basket. The separate containers are stocked with the medallions that can be used on the card. Mounting tape has already been applied, so when it is time to use them, all I’ll have to do is peel the liner off of the back and pop the medallion onto a card.

It was pure serendipity that these acrylic containers I have in my studio fit in to the basket perfectly. They hold all the supplies. The center container is pre-tied bows. (I told you this has to be quick!!)

One container holds various monograms, done in multiples.

The last container holds various occasions done in multiples.
Here is what the set looks like with some of the medallions mounted.

Here’s a peek inside! The red basket is a silverware basket that I picked up from the craft store – I’ve seen these everywhere.

The medallions were made using JustRite 10 Designer Centers and Borders and the
JustRite Damask Borders Set as seen below:

Now on to Day Two with Becca Feeken!!

JustRite Desk Garden Flags
While I was shopping in Hobby Lobby in the garden section I came across the cutest flags that you put outside in your garden. Now, I know what you’re thinking – how could I possibly do anything with those? Well these were teensy, weensy little flags. In fact, they are 2 ½” wide by 4” tall!

So I started thinking, those don’t have to be wasted in the garden. I can make my own little garden to sit on a desk and put the flags in that garden. So I got some containers and simply filled them with grass. Then I took away the fabric flags and made my own. This can basically be done for any occasion. They can be made in a series or one stowed on a desk with a little gift to announce the occasion.
Here are the individual flags:

For the project I mainly used the new JustRite Demi Phrases and paired them with Designer Centers and Borders. All the center wording was done in Times New Roman Upper Case Font and Times New Roman Lower Case Font in a 50 point size.

Day One with Becca Feeken- Wanderful Words of Inspiration

It's a JustRite 2009 Release Celebration!! That's right the 1st release from CHA is now shipping!! Simply visit our website and click on NEW to see all the great products that are shipping this week.

We have an exciting week planned for you at the JustRite blog!! First we have 5 Days of projects from Becca Feeken and on Tuesday we are having our first ever JustRite Design Team Blog Hop.
Today Becca has a fun project that recyles bubble wands!!

Wanderful Words of Inspiration

I’ve always been fascinated by the bubble wands you see in Michaels. I was tempted to buy them, but I never really knew what to do with them. Then I had this idea kicking around in my head to recycle them. After playing around with them I figured out that there’s room inside to accommodate a piece of paper rolled around the stem of the wand. I thought it was a great way to give someone lots of different messages – words of wisdom , inspirational thoughts, number wands to read everyday when counting down to a special event. So I made two sets of wands – and using the Harmony Rectangular Stamper set, found it was oh so easy to put my own verses of text on each of the papers – they are wonderful!

Here are the quick steps on how I created them –

I set up my text using the Rectangular Stamper and 25 pt Trompe Script upper and lower fonts as seen below. For my first wand I stamped this verse- "Let love rule your heart, logic rule your mind and faith rule your soul" on a small piece of paper sized 3 inches tall by 4 ½ inches wide.
The next step is to tape the stamped paper to the wand. I did this with 3” wide postal tape and cut it about 2” long. The tape is applied to the upper left corner of my stamped panel.

The tape will cover the stem of the wand but not the head. By taping this way, the wand cannot pull back through on its own. Don’t use too much tape though – it will extend into your stamping.

Then roll the wand down the length of paper, evenly and tightly. Optionally – after a full roll, you can place a piece of red sticky tape so that when the stamped panel is unfurled you can’t see the postal tape.

Insert the rolled stamped panel into the tube and decorate the top with ribbon!!

These square containers are some that I had in my studio and it was very convenient that they fit 16 of the tubes! Then decorate the top or the side as you will. In this case I used the new 2 3/8” stamper. I used a border from the 10 Designer Centers and Borders. I clipped mine so that it would fit on the stamper but be very careful. On some of the designs there gaps where you can snip and when returned to regular use, the cut cannot be seen – do this at your own risk.

I stamped the border, cut with Spellbinders Standard Circles Large and mounted it on a frame cut with Spellbinders Labels Three. Then I put the words “Wanderful Words” in proper case using Times New Roman Font – uppercase and lower case. This was cut with Spellbinders Standard Circles Large as well. The pink circle was cut with a round circle punch.

I can see more sets of these in my future!

Here are picture's of just a few of our favorite JustRite Projects from her blog.

Aren't these so adorable. Just Perfect for any Baby Shower.

Next isn't this Wedding card Exquisite!!

And this beautiful flower - wouldn't these make sweet picture frames.

Becca tell us about your family.
I’m a SAHM of two girls and a boy, two in college and the baby is a senior in High School. I’ve been married to the sweetest craft enabler for 26 years – he’s retired, so life is pretty laid back.

How long have you been stamping?
I couldn’t remember how long ago it was until just recently I found the first stamp catalog a friend talked me into ordering; it was PSX. It was dated 1995 so that’s basically when I started “collecting”, I really started using my stamps about 3 years ago.

How long does it take you to design one of your beautiful cards?
I typically linger over the details, sometimes enough that it drives me crazy. Most cards take several hours – I move things around and experiment a lot. When I do a sketch (for some reason, rare these days) I can knock a card out pretty quickly.

Where you do you do your stamping?
I do all of my stamping in my studio which is located next door to our house – it was also my office when I worked from home. I’m into several other crafts, so it’s a place that I can leave “works in progress” out and I don’t have to be afraid to make a mess. It’s in major need of painting and purging and the upstairs has become a dumping ground – sigh – it’s on my to do list.

How many hours a week do you paper craft?
When am I not crafting? It’s constant, even when I’m shopping I’m looking at patterns, colors and for new items to incorporate or writing ideas into my sketchbook.

What is your must have stamping tool?
Whoa, how can a person say just one? I really “use” my tools – I love my stamp-a-majig, heat gun, and Distress Ink Blenders.

H0w long have you been blogging?
I have blogging for just over a year now, my blogaversary was in February. Prior to that if you had asked me what a blog was, I’d have tough time with the answer.

Who are your 3 favorite designers that inspire you?
I’m so inspired by Debbie Olsen, Amy Sheffer and Jerri Kay and I have a very long list that goes way beyond three, lol!!

Currently who is your favorite Paper Company?
I’m a certified K & Company addict. I have many, many others but I have more K & Co. in my stash that anything else – anyone who can read between the lines knows that sounds like there’s some hoarding going on.

What is your Favorite JustRite Product and why?
I love the Rectangular Stamper Set and the Fonts. I never seem to have the right sentiment stamp, so once I began stamping with these, I knew would always have options and flexibility.

Tell us besides JustRite, what are you currently addicted to??
I’m a remedial cutter meaning I can’t hand cut anything for the life of me…I’m seriously addicted to my Spellbinders.
