Photographs from Leslie Canyon Road

Leslie Canyon Road runs north out of Douglas, AZ to Rucker Canyon Road, which take you out to Elfrida, AZ. Last Saturday Mike and I took a photo-op drive through Leslie Canyon. In the afternoon we joyfully experienced monsoon rains, temp around 70 and a gentle breeze. I basically hung my head out my window to feel it on my cheeks. Anyway, here are some photos from last Saturday. All were made with my little Canon Power Shot A470 point-and-shoot. I played with some of the images in Photoshop to give them a cross processing look. Towards the end of my editing I just did auto levels and nothing more. I'll make note with each photo.

Well, around here I just decided to finish up and post photos, so the rest were just done with auto levels.

It's been awhile...life has kept me busy in other ways

The Altered Page
Wow, haven't posted since April 10! I'm posting today because Seth Apter, The Altered Page included me in his It's Still Life blog post today. Check it out. Seth is truly an incredible artist and generously shares the work of many artists on his blog and in his publications. So, Seth brought me here today. Thank you, Seth.

As long as I'm here, I'll share the updated version from my April 10 post. As I said in that post I wasn't sure I was happy the my Water piece. Now I believe it is finished. Here it is...and wish I were there!

Water in Wax

This encaustic piece began with the photo in my last post. I took the photo and saved several different ways in Photoshop and printed on very thin tissue, and also did a pastel drawing of it. The images are then layered in wax with some oil paint and oil stick colors added. Seems whenever I photograph and post encaustic pieces I find things I don't like about the piece. For the time being, I'm not changing. I'll just live with it a bit. Sometimes stepping away is the best thing to do.
