Kyler turns 2!

My little boy is no longer a baby...he is two! I can't believe how quickly the last two years have gone! We struggled with what we were going to do for Kyler's second birthday and finally decided to keep it very low-key. We decided to have Eric's aunt and uncle over for dinner and then open presents while our families watched via skype. Kyler and I had been talking about his birthday for quite a while and he informed me that he wanted a Mickey Mouse cake. I had high ambitions and thought I would make a cake shaped like Mickey Mouse's head and frost it accordingly. It was going to be so cute. However, I realized that my artistic ability is very limited and that making that kind of cake and doing all the other stuff I wanted to do just wasn't going to happen for this pregnant, worn-out mommy. So I opted or a homemade cake with a Mickey Mouse candle. Kyler loved it and it saved me a lot of work. In my quest for the Mickey Mouse candle, I found some Mickey Mouse decorations and, despite the fact that we weren't having a real party, decked out the house. We had our nice dinner with Rick and Marilyn and then got on skype to open presents. It was a little confusing at first because we had both of our laptops going (one for Eric's fam and one for mine), but we got the hang of it and everyone got to see Kyler open his presents. He had a great time and got some very fun gifts. Then we brought out the cake and sang to him (twice) and he blew out his candle (twice). It was a great night. Kyler enjoyed it and that is all I wanted.

Kyler Knight

Lately Kyler has been very into playing knights. He has a castle and a bunch of knight figures that Eric bought for him. He thinks they are great! He has recently started telling me that he is a knight. He refers to himself as Kyler knight. The other day I decided we would do a simple art project and make a knight hat for him. He enjoyed using the stapler and adding stickers, but was a little uncertain about wearing it. For the first little while he just wanted to carry it around. Then he saw how it looked in the mirror and was willing to wear it.
