Another Park Posting

It's just that sunny days are so few and far between in February. We had some really warm weather last week, so we raced out to spend the day in the playground. Marin has decided she needs to make a concerted effort to spend more time in the sun--she needs to turn her complexion from winter gray to spring pink.

The kids got into a heated argument over who should be the only child allowed to touch the yellow ball on top of the oversized building block. Luckily, Marin distracted them with "Ring Around the Rosies."

Marin will be a little sad when "Ring Around the Rosies" no longer solves every social problem.

Blue and Gold Dinner

Marin is a Cub Scout Den leader for the proud and mighty Troop 526. We had our annual Blue and Gold Dinner this month. The theme was American ABCs. It was kind of fun to have a Fourth of July-ish theme in the middle of winter.

Here are Marin's cubbies, working on their patriotic "word scramblers." Aren't they cute?

One cool thing about this activity is that includes the families and church leaders of all of the boys. This little girl is such an amazingly gorgeous and beautifully behaved baby. She lives a few blocks from us, and our whole family is completely in love with her. Even Charlie, who usually doesn't care much for babies younger than one year, toddles right over to her and tries to pull her on to his lap.

Chinese New Year

I know, the fact that we are now in the Year of the Ox is old news, but we have to put our pictures somewhere. We went to an overcrowded and undernourished stake Chinese New Year activity (choking back stereotypical remarks about the country of China) for a few minutes before we decided to go out for Chinese food instead.
Gil and Charlie in their trademark "New York crowds" stance: a piggy-back.

There's a Chinese dragon in there somewhere, I promise.
