Paper Artsy Challenge Clare Lloyd–Faces Part 2
“I cannot draw,i cannot draw, i cannot draw” has been something i have been saying to myself for as long as i can remember. Clare Lloyd is the Guest Designer over at Paper Artsy this week and she did a little video to show us how to draw a face.
I drew along with the video because if i had watched it first the “i cannot draw” mantra would have been playing in my head, this way i had no idea what would happen, this is what happened.
My first whimsical face.
There is so much wrong with it but it is what it is. I didn’t have all the Fresco Paints that Clare used. Don’t have any basic pencils so used Inktense Pencils without adding any water, hence the odd colours on her cheeks. She really looks like she has a 10 o’clock shadow lol.
Clare used plain card to create a covering for the whimsical girl, so i did the same except i used a piece of mop up paper from spraying some Dylusions sprays. After i had cut out the shape stamped over the top with the bubble stamp from Paper Artsy stamp plate HP1010. Coloured the circles using Posca Pens.
Size #8 Tag covered in Pewter and Old Gold Fresco Paints. Used Wendy Vecchi Archival Cornflower Blue, to stamp the circle border which is from Sara Neumann Plate ESN08.
The flower corner and the tiny flower stamps are from a very old stamp set, ‘In My words’ by a company called Fancy Pants, they are from 2008 and not available any more. Used Archival Black ink to stamp these.
Hand doodled round the smaller flower stamp using Sakura Glaze Pens and Posca Pens.
The final tag all assembled, added words from JOFY 11 stamp plate.
Added a white border which maybe i shouldn’t have, still learning how to shadow/highlight shapes… I might add a couple of small flowers as the Tag is lacking that finishing touch.
Hope you like my whimsical girl, i might just keep trying to ‘draw faces’ as really need to improve!
Thanks for dropping by, looking forward to your comments which are all very much appreciated.

More Stencils and Distress Inks
Over at the Artistic Stamper their Challenge this week is to use Distress inks.
Over at the Pan Pastel UK Blog their challenge is to use a Stencil.
Made two things which i needed, a card and envelope to send to a friend as a thank you and some storage for my pens and paint brushes.
The Card
The card stock is from stash, it was from Kanban. Took an A4 sheet cut in half, folded and washed with a little Haystack Fresco Paint. Used a piece of round sequin waste, Peacock Feather and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks to lightly cover the card.
Ooops forgot to say glued some old book paper to the front of the card before starting the stencilling. Decorated the border of the inside of the card too.
Cut three stars from foil card and glued them into place. Stamped O Joy from Stampotique onto tissue paper and then coloured with Distress Inks Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves, attached him to the card with PVA glue.
Added some doodle circles and stamped the words ‘I Believe’ in Black Soot Distress ink.
Took an A5 envelope used stamps from Chocolate Baroque and Crafty Individuals, birdcage stencil i made and the sequin waste. Used the same inks as above to colour.
Attached one of the Project Life pocket pages i made using CAP2, made a few of them in 3x4 and 4x6 inch sizes. Stamped with Black Soot Distress and have used a cartoon image to cover the address.
Upcycled Pringles Tube
Asked my OH to chop down a Pringles crisp tube as i wanted some smaller containers, this time to house paint brushes and pens.
Made my own masking tape to go around the top of the canisters. Used Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks (can you tell i really like these two colours together!)Then i took the stencil Splats and Swirls from the Artistic Stamper, a baby wipe and rubbed through the stencil to remove the ink.
Covered the canisters in old book pages and a couple of pieces of ink mopping up paper, adhered it to the can using watered down PVA glue. Then applied Pan Pastels Turquoise Shade, Red Iron Oxide Shade and Red Iron Oxide Extra dark, love this combination.
Took the Swirls, Splats and Dots stamp plate from the Artistic Stamper, inked them up by hand and then stamped onto the canister. Used the matching stencil to add some splats using Peacock Feathers Distress ink.
Added the masking tape around the tops of the canisters, sprayed with a fixative so the Pan Pastels don’t come off, added the brushes and pens, don’t they look fab. Really pleased with them.
Looking forward to reading your comments which are always appreciated.

Stencils, Distress Ink and Sewing
These are the three challenges i am entering today.
Artistic Stamper – Use Distress
I am loving the Guest Designers over on the Paper Artsy Blog, this week it is again the turn of Clare Lloyd. Her first challenge is to make a funky art journal style tag. I followed Clare’s instructions and this is what i came up with.
Forgot to take pictures of how i added the base colours to the tag. Used Pan Pastel red shades but didn’t like the colour so added a layer of Nougat Fresco Paint, added a thick layer on one of the tags and pressed the other into it and then pulled it off to get a lighter coating.
Stamped the images on the Tag using Darcy Wilkinson’s cog border, JOFY stamps. The Rhonda Palazzari stencil is a favourite of mine, used Pea coat Fresco Paint to go through the stencil. On a separate piece of card painted Bora Bora Fresco Paint then stamped the wonderful smiling happy faces from the JOFY plate 09. Cut them out with a border and coloured in with Sakura Glaze Pens and a white fine tip Posca Pen.
Used Distress inks Peacock Feathers, Faded Jeans and Seedless Preserves and Black Archival for all the stamping and edging of the Tag. Coloured the happy face stamps using Fresco Paints Autumn fire and Claret.
Added a layer of Fresco Metallic Glaze over the Tag as i like a little sparkle.
One of the things i am not good at is sewing, 2014 is the year i am going to remedy that. I was very pleased when i saw that Clare had added stitching to her funky journal Tag.
Used navy and green rayon thread to sew around the flowers and on the stems of the JOFY flowers.
Added two different sentiments to the Tag both from JOFY plates using Seedless Preserves DI and Archival Black inks.
Hope you like my funky journal tag, looking forward to your comments.

Valentines Cards
My OH wanted me to make our cards from Darcy Wilkinson’s stamps this year as he loves the shapes of the hearts on plate EDY01, he also challenged me to use all the shades of red Pan Pastels i have and one Metallic colour. He did this as he knows i have difficulty using red, it is not one of my favourite colours!
Made an 8x8 card for OH and used the card that was over to make mine, think this is known as a scrapling card. Used an A3 sheet of Kraft card from Anna-Marie Designs.
Used Red, Red Oxide and Permanent Dark Red also Rich Gold and Copper Metallic Pan Pastels onto a piece of card stock from stash.
Stamped out all the hearts and sentiments. Cut them out and triple embossed them with clear embossing powder. Backed them all with black card as needed a little bit of drama, they looked lost on the Kraft card without the dark background. Have used 13 hearts as we have been together 13 years.
Used Darcy’s heart vine stamp to go round the edges of the cards, i like to go around the whole card not just the fronts. Coloured the hearts in using Pan Pastels Metallic colours and Portfolio Pastels vines.
Finally added the sentiments which are both from Paper Artsy.
Thanks for dropping by, have a lovely weekend and welcome to February.
