Christmas Fun - Cute

Over a the Christmas Fun Challenge Blog the theme is Cute, i struggle with cute but had a play and this is what i came up with.

P1060023

P1060025

P1060024

Used Pan Pastels Red, Permanent Dark Red and Red Oxide for the background stripes, fixed with hairspray and then added a layer of Copper Pan Pastel.

Used some stamps from stash for the borders, Jane Nesterenko Glad Tidings Mouse stamp set and Daisy and Dandelion Santa’s Little Helpers for the main image and the inner.

The mouse, robin and angel are coloured with my new Kaiserfusion Pens, enjoyed using them as they blend really well, much easier imho than Promarkers.

Mounted the mouse onto a Bazzill Basic round shape which was coloured with  Red Tomato Kaiserfusion Pen. Used the Colall Tacky Glue to adhere everything on the card, first time have tried and it is very good.

P1060027

Stamped the angel onto white card and placed her on the inside of the card, stamped some of the tiny snowflakes from the Mouse stamp set. Added Stickles Glitter Glue onto all the centres of the snowflakes.

May i welcome my new followers, Hello hope you enjoy looking around.

May i apologise for not commenting on your blogs recently. I am unwell and very tired so will catch up as soon as i am able.

Event City Craft Show

I only attend three shows a year, two at Event city and one at Port Sunlight. I enjoy the Event City shows as they are not too far away for me.

Each show gets busier and busier and has many exhibitors, but, i do struggle to get the items i need. This time was no different, went armed with a list, came home with four items and the rest just jumped into my bag!

Here are the pictures of the items which i ended up with. I am very happy with them all. Hope you enjoy…

P1050980

Small scissors from X-Cut, been desperate to get some smaller ones for details work.

P1050982

The MDF man had some fab items, this time i got a set of drawers, some cogs, butterflies and a couple of tab books. He will be back for the next shows so don’t have to worry about not getting any more lovely MDF shapes to play with.

P1050983

Love Inkadinkado stamps, found these by chance, loved the bird house and a couple of the others so had to get them.

P1050991

Memento Ink Pads, i don’t have any, got the cats eye shapes as got more colours for my money.

P1050992

Sheena Douglass embossing folders, love these very much.

P1050995

Have been a fan of The House of Zandra for many years, she now makes stamps, loving the spoons and this Toadstool Village image.

P1050996

Got some matching heavy weight paper.

P1050997

P1050998

P1050999

P1060001

P1060002

Then found these wonderful heavy weight papers and couldn’t resist. Going to use one of these to decorate the MDF chest of drawers.

P1050978

This lady was also selling some new (to me) Alcohol pens by Kaiser Craft called KAISERfusion pens. Used them and they are like no others i have tried. Have a hard time with Alcohol pens but these have wonderful coverage and blend very easily.

P1050974

Above was coloured with KAISERfusion pens.

P1050975

Above was coloured with Copic Pens.

P1050976

Above was coloured with Promarkers.

All the images are on same cardstock and smooth finish. What do you think from looking at these examples, can you see a difference?

P1050989

Got this WRMK board with the new ATB in mind. Cheaper than the Bigz die and lots more sizes available to make.

P1050994

This Spellbinders individual words die was in the reduced bin;like the words and can be used in journalling or on Tags.

P1060004

I do enjoy weaving and got this as can take it out with me, can make small bags or handles.

P1050981

I enjoy Stitch magazine, it is great for embroiderers. Back copies were half price and i managed to get a copy of the latest magazine too.

P1050986

Needed these colours as they are missing frim my thread collection.

P1060005

P1060006

P1060007

P1060008

Found all these wonderful heavy weight cotton materials on a stall called Little Laura’s Haberdashery, she had some unusual and unique patterns available. Could have bought more but didn’t!

P1060003

Made this on one of the free sewing workshops.

Well that’s the stash now the surprise i got.

P1060011

My wonderful OH bought me this! He got it while i was resting in the cafe area, didn’t find out until we got home. Not out of the box yet as too exhausted to open anything until next week. Am going back later today just to get an A4 embossing folder, yeah really just one embossing folder… Need to know if it works ok!

OH has said he will drive me to the show, wait in the car while i get the embossing folder and then drive me home.

P1060009

Finally this is what OH has got for his birthday. He has wanted a good reading lamp for ages, he now has one! Got it from The Craftlights Company. They always discount their lights at shows and their customer service is fantastic.

I bet you are glad the stash post is over for another few months, hope you weren’t too bored! Found out that there will a show end of May early June in Bolton. Might go, see how finances are…

Hope you enjoyed the post, looking forward to reading your comments.

Craft Barn Challenge Q&L Week 2 Silence or Dazzle

Over at the Craft Barn the words chosen for week 2 of their Quotes and Lyrics Challenge are Silence or Dazzle.
It wasn’t easy for me to find something that had both words as i have been unwell and not spent too much time researching. However, i found an amazing person called Christopher Poindexter who calls himself an up and coming Poet. After reading a LOT of his poems i chose this one.
“I read her eyes like
paragraphs and her tears
like chapters
for she didn’t have much to
say with words, but rather,
silence.

And never let them tell you
that silence isn’t beautiful.
For silence is what happens
when words fall asleep and
you must carry the belief
that one day they will rise
up inside of you.
Christopher Poindexter.

Found it difficult to put this into context until i found some stamps that i have had for a long time, then it all started coming together, so i thought.
P1060012
Used an index sized card, stamped the Lady's face from La Blanche with Cornflower Blue Archival Ink and then got stuck. I pondered what to do and decided to add a pop of colour and my own handwriting onto a pocket card. Used one of my own designs and cut to size once all the words had been added.
Went round the edges of the iCard with a white Posca Pen to add interest as it was looking quite flat and boring.
Still not quite right so added some stencilling and Pan Pastels. Used the stencil mini script from TCW over the top of the face, used Versamark Pad and then added the Turquoise Shade Pan Pastel over the top, sealed the iCard then applied Ultramarine Blue over the top. Used a circle stencil to remove some of the colour around the head of the Lady, sealed the card again, then added Silver pan pastel over the top.
P1060013
I had written the Poem out onto a scrap piece of paper so i could practice writing it out, have used this to cover the reverse of the card.
First of all i used old book pages to cover most of the reverse of the card, then i cut the Poem into blocks of writing and adhered them. Used the same two stencils as on the front, the same techniques and colours of Pan Pastel so it all tied in. Used the white Posca Pen to outline the word silence and a few other choice words that stood out to me.
Can you tell i really love the combination of Turquoise Shade, Ultramarine Blue and Silver pan Pastels lol.
I hope you enjoy the Poetry of Christopher Poindexter, without this Challenge i would never have found him so i am grateful that i am being pushed out of my comfort zone and finding new Words that resonate with my heart.
Hope you like the iCard, looking forward to your reading your comments.

Paper Artsy Challenge Clare Lloyd–Faces Part 2

“I cannot draw,i cannot draw, i cannot draw” has been something i have been saying to myself for as long as i can remember. Clare Lloyd is the Guest Designer over at Paper Artsy this week and she did a little video to show us how to draw a face.

I drew along with the video because if i had watched it first the “i cannot draw” mantra would have been playing in my head, this way i had no idea what would happen, this is what happened.

P1050950

My first whimsical face.

There is so much wrong with it but it is what it is. I didn’t have all the Fresco Paints that Clare used. Don’t have any basic pencils so used Inktense Pencils without adding any water, hence the odd colours on her cheeks. She really looks like she has a 10 o’clock shadow lol.

P1050953

Clare used plain card to create a covering for the whimsical girl, so i did the same except i used a piece of mop up paper from spraying some Dylusions sprays. After i had cut out the shape stamped over the top with the bubble stamp from Paper Artsy stamp plate HP1010. Coloured the circles using Posca Pens.

P1050955

Size #8 Tag covered in Pewter and Old Gold Fresco Paints. Used Wendy Vecchi Archival Cornflower Blue, to stamp the circle border which is from Sara Neumann Plate ESN08.

The flower corner and the tiny flower stamps are from a very old stamp set, ‘In My words’ by a company called Fancy Pants, they are from 2008 and not available any more. Used Archival Black ink to stamp these.

Hand doodled round the smaller flower stamp using Sakura Glaze Pens and Posca Pens.

P1050960

The final tag all assembled, added words from JOFY 11 stamp plate.

Added a white border which maybe i shouldn’t have, still learning how to shadow/highlight shapes… I might add a couple of small flowers as the Tag is lacking that finishing touch.

Hope you like my whimsical girl, i might just keep trying to ‘draw faces’ as really need to improve!

Thanks for dropping by, looking forward to your comments which are all very much appreciated.

More Stencils and Distress Inks

Over at the Artistic Stamper their Challenge this week is to use Distress inks.

Over at the Pan Pastel UK Blog their challenge is to use a Stencil.

Made two things which i needed, a card and envelope to send to a friend as a thank you and some storage for my pens and paint brushes.

The Card

P1050915

P1050916

P1050917

P1050918

The card stock is from stash, it was from Kanban. Took an A4 sheet cut in half, folded and washed with a little Haystack Fresco Paint. Used a piece of round sequin waste, Peacock Feather and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks to lightly cover the card.

Ooops forgot to say glued some old book paper to the front of the card before starting the stencilling. Decorated the border of the inside of the card too.

Cut three stars from foil card and glued them into place. Stamped O Joy from Stampotique onto tissue paper and then coloured with Distress Inks Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves, attached him to the card with PVA glue.

Added some doodle circles and stamped the words ‘I Believe’ in Black Soot Distress ink.

Took an A5 envelope used stamps from Chocolate Baroque and Crafty Individuals, birdcage stencil i made and the sequin waste. Used the same inks as above to colour.

Attached one of the Project Life pocket pages i made using CAP2, made a few of them in 3x4 and 4x6 inch sizes.  Stamped with Black Soot Distress and have used a cartoon image to cover the address.

Upcycled Pringles Tube

Asked my OH to chop down a Pringles crisp tube as i wanted some smaller containers, this time to house paint brushes and pens.

P1050920

P1050922

Made my own masking tape to go around the top of the canisters. Used Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks (can you tell i really like these two colours together!)Then i took the stencil Splats and Swirls from the Artistic Stamper, a baby wipe and rubbed through the stencil to remove the ink.

P1050926

P1050928

Covered the canisters in old book pages and a couple of pieces of ink mopping up paper, adhered it to the can using watered down PVA glue. Then applied Pan Pastels Turquoise Shade, Red Iron Oxide Shade and Red Iron Oxide Extra dark, love this combination.

Took the Swirls, Splats and Dots stamp plate from the Artistic Stamper, inked them up by hand and then stamped onto the canister. Used the matching stencil to add some splats using Peacock Feathers Distress ink.

P1050931

Added the masking tape around the tops of the canisters,  sprayed with a fixative so the Pan Pastels don’t come off, added the brushes and pens, don’t they look fab.  Really pleased with them.

Looking forward to reading your comments which are always appreciated.
