UPDATE

I have been recording "Unsolved Mysteries," on our wonderful DVR, and I love the show! Its not as scary as it was when I was little. I guess I like a little mystery in my life. Well every time they say UPDATE I always get excited. I guess because they have solved the mystery. Anyways, here is our UPDATE for the Thompson household. We are still full of life---and ready to rock n' roll.

UPDATE: Carter will be 2 this month which I can't believe---I have a 2 year old!?? Wow. He is growing by leaps and bounds. Talking so much--learning new things every day, and is fascinated with many things and people such as:Mickey, (which he still calls Banga...) Elmo, Buzz and Woody, (pronounced Wood-ay) and he watches "Toy Story" probably once a day if I let him. He loves it. Still in love with Thomas, or "choo-choo" and he has moved on to calling it a train. :) He is the youngest fan I know and I only gave him a little nudge...he loves ELVIS! I was watching an Elvis movie, and told him it was Elvis. He went in my kitchen and pointed and said his name. We go to a store, and I pick up an Elvis cd...he knows who he is. One time we were listening to the holiday station in the car, and "white Christmas" came on by the King, and he screamed...."ELVIS!!" It always makes me happy. My mother-in-law bought me an Elvis stocking and it plays "Blue Christmas." When Chase pulled it out of the closet he reached out his hands and and yelled, "ELLLLLLLLVISSSS!!" He might have been a little bit more excited than me!! It was so cute. I just love it, and Chase just likes it...ha ha. Now we have 2 Elvis fans in the house! Yahoo! I love that little boy more and more. :)

UPDATE: Chase has 1 1/2 years of school left! I can't believe how fast its gone! He is keeping himself with projects in the home, and he is new found love hobby: guns!!

UPDATE: Meagan is happy as a clam...and pregnant with her 2nd baby boy! He is due in May! We are very excited and happy for Carter to have a little brother! :)

Carter's First Experience at McDonald's

Well, Chase usually comes home for lunch, and Carter LOVES it when Chase is home, (as always) so I've been keeping him up from his nap, and once Chase leaves I put Mr. Carter down. Once in a great while, Chase won't come home for lunch for various reasons at school. So I decided to be a fun, spontaneous, adventurous mom, and I decided to be brave and go to McDonald's, and have my son play in the play area. I was thrilled and worried that he would get stuck in the tunnel and get scared...or something. I worry too much. I remember my mom would take me, and it was a blast! Carter and I enjoyed chicken mcnuggets and some cute apple slices. Then I told him to go play with all the tunnels. He stepped inside, and just sat by the entrance of the tunnel. If I wasn't 25 I would jump in and help Carter through the maze, and make it to the fun twisty slide. I just love to my make boy happy! Kids came by, and of course, Carter waves, "hi," and even gave a boy a hug. The kids told him to follow them, but Carter just waved and sat in the front. He loved watching all the other kids go through the tunnel. He still had a fun time even if he didn't go down the fun slide. When he's older, he will LOVE it even more!!! :)

Childhood Memories

Sometimes I think that I am a 7 year old trapped in a adult body. I still like to wear character shirts, eat corn dogs, chicken fingers, and I still love to watch Disney movies. I bought them for my children...but I am the one watching them. Carter is starting to get interested in "Bambi," and "Mickey," whom he calls "Banga..." which makes no sense to me. (But I am glad that I am Carter's official translator.) It started in college when I wanted to start my own Disney collection on DVD. I guess I just don't want my children to miss out them-because they bring so much good memories and good times as a kid and with my family. When the Disney movie came out in theaters, my whole family would go! It was so great! My little sister and I collected the barbie dolls of the disney characters when the movie came out. I loved Aladdin, and for my 8th birthday I got the Aladdin doll. (Candice would always get the girl doll...and I would get the boy...it was our plan to get both...sneaky...I know! And our birthday is only 10 days apart! Worked out nicely.) Anyways, I loved the classics, "Little Mermaid," and recently just came out on DVD, "Beauty and the Beast." (side note: I love that they come out in October!! Birthday month! :) So I told Chase that's what I wanted for my birthday. He got it for me yesterday, (me with him reminding him that it was out) and I just HAD to watch it. I felt I was 6 again!!! Beauty and the Beast came out the first time in 1991! 19 years ago! I was 6! WOW! I remembered that my mom bought me Velcro shoes with a picture of Beauty and the Beast on the side of the shoe. I miss those shoes. When I turned on the movie, I could quote the whole movie, but I didn't want to be annoying to Chase..who was doing homework in the kitchen. But it did make me smile. And I know this is ridiculous, and I can't even believe I am putting this on the blog, but I got a little teary-eyed when the Belle and the Beast were dancing during their song! Love love love the movie! It's been YEARS since I've seen it. It truly is a gem. Just a side note: I've always found it funny that The Beast has no name...when Candice and I played barbies, it was like, "Hi Beast!" Just silly. (Yes...I even had the Beast doll...and he could change into a beast or the prince. Pretty awesome.

"Choo! Choo!"

Carter has a new hero...a new love...and someone...or should I say, some tank engine, that makes him smile every minute of every day. Let me introduce to you our new friend...Thomas the Tank Engine. I don't know when or how his fascination with "choo-choo," began, but let me tell you when I put in the DVD, Carter's little eyes light up, and he points to the TV, saying, "Choo! Choo!" and he starts jumping up and down and dancing to the theme music. He LOVES it. I just love to see him get excited EVERY single time I turn it on. The joys of motherhood. :)

Cousins!!!

The beginning of this month, one of my sisters came and stayed with us over memorial weekend! It was so much fun! Carter had 5 cousins to play with, and be excited when he woke up from his naps! These are the only pictures that I took...(I need to get better at getting out the camera...) Here are some pictures...of two of his cousins...Adam and Rachel. He loved the baby, and I tried to get some cute pictures with him and Adam. It was very fun to spend time with my sister and brother-in-law and their kids!

Daddy time and a new hair cut!

Here are some recent pictures of our little guy! Chase gave him a hair cut on Sunday--I think its pretty adorable. He looks so grown up! He loves loves loves his dad! When he hears the garage door opening, he yells, "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!" and runs as fast as he can to the door, and then when Chase comes in, another, "DAAAAAAAAAAD!" and he gives him a huge hug! We love Daddy! :)

Mommy Wow! I'm A Big Boy Now!

I haven't done a post about my "baby," in a long time--and he is growing up and learning new things every day! His new thing is...feeding himself. Its cute, fun, cute, and really messy...and cute. :) It makes me sad to see that he is really growing up and becoming a full grown toddler! He also likes to scowl at me when I take pictures of him, or just look at him. I hope this isn't a glance of the teenager years to come!

This is a picture of me by the flying bat-towel. Many nights we would come home to a towel made into an animal. It always made my night. The second picture is of the crab that Chase found on the beach...and it literally POPPED out of the ground! Pretty cool! And the other pictures below are pretty sums up the whole trip. Paradise.

Haiti part 4

Haiti was our last stop on the cruise. We did the "big-long-zipline" ( i don't remember the technical name...sorry.) and it was over the ocean! So neat! I love Haiti. The beach was so nice and very relaxing!

Zip Lining in Puerto Rico (part 3)

This was two words for me: scary and scary. Chase was a pro zip lining tree to tree. But it was to fast for me, and the only way to stop myself from slamming into the tree was my hand and the glove. Scary. After a few tries it became a little bit fun and scary. Side note: I did where my Edward shirt, and one of the helpers there saw it and said, "team edward!?" I said, "Yes! Its for good luck." He got a chuckle. So I guess it was lucky because I still am alive!

Cruise Time Part 1

Leaving Miami here and in our room I found a magazine of Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio together...and I just had to laugh.

My Heart Will Go On

"Every night in my dreams I see you....I feel you...that is how I know you go on...." After coming home from a cruise, I still wake up in the middle of the night and be starving like a crazy animal. And Chase and I are now getting use to not eating every two hours. I do miss that cruise. My heart will go on...I guess.

Yes! Chase and I went on a Caribbean Cruise for entire week with his family! And I can tell you, I got a sneak peek at paradise---I say that the cruise was pretty much it. The above picture is Chase and I when the ship left from Miami. (I told him I wanted to take a "Titanic" pose, but he wouldn't do it.)

This is my first cruise and being on a "ship," so all my knowledge about cruising was the movie "Titanic." Thanks James Cameron. I tried not to think about it sinking...and hitting an iceburg, but the luxury and the fine dining and never-ending food was amazing. This is how Chase and I felt..and mean were... before we went on our week long adventure: this is us after the cruise:
I felt like a Queen on that ship. Again...paradise. I took over 74 pictures of this fantastic cruise....so I might be posting many pictures on the blog to come. Enjoy!

Nursery Time!!

It's the most wonderful time of the year
With my baby turning 18 months
And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer"
It's the most wonderful time of the year
It's the hap-happiest season of all
With those great nursery leaders and new friends to be made
There'll be toys to be played with, and songs to sing,
It's the hap- happiest season of all

(I am not really good at coming up with a re-write of this song to tell my story...but I hope you get the drift)

I have been counting down the Sundays for this moment when my little man goes to Nursery! The thoughts of actually sitting in all the meetings and LISTENING to the lessons and FEELING the spirit and LEARNING something without always preoccupying my little one with entertainment, or with animals crackers during gospel doctrine and relief society---actually made me smile. Then that glorious day came, and I was telling him at breakfast what the exciting day held for him. When I dropped him off I met his very nice teachers, and Carter began to play with the puzzles. "He is going to do just fine," said his teacher. I smiled. And Chase and I left the room, and closed the door behind us. Then it hit me like a bug smacked into the windshield...and all I wanted to do was cry. I just put my little baby boy into nursery! Those were the two longest hours of my life!!! After gospel doctrine, I peaked in the window, and saw him in the little chair eating his crackers! I made myself go to relief society, and I sit down. I had no one to entertain and to feed crackers to. My baby is growing up! It was a great lesson..I just didn't know what to do with my hands!!! Once class was over I was the first parent to pick up my boy. I found him on the teacher's lap, sucking his thumb with tears in his eyes. I said, "hi!" and he got down and started to cry a bit and ran into my arms and put his head on my shoulder! (he hardly ever does that!) My heart just melted. The teacher said that he would cry every time someone would leave the room, and he did well during class time and playing with the toys. So, I didn't know that this was going to be so hard on me!! I love my baby, and I just CAN'T BELIEVE how fast he is growing up!! We will both get through this little buddy!

Ah Poop!!

Today seemed like any other ordinary day in the month of June. Carter and I went for a little swim, and then he hit the bath tub-when he got home- to become nice and clean and fresh before his 3 hour nap. The Shampoo Monster began to scrub the fragrant effervescent soap into his hair, and began to rinse it out... and then the phone rang! It was my two sisters! As girls love to do--we began to talk and laugh. I got Carter out of the bathtub, and dried off...and he began running around in my bed room, in the nude. I have been talking to my sisters still, and Carter went into my walk-in closet and shut the door behind him. (This is one of his new games that he loves to play...opening and shutting doors.) Still engaging in a wonderful conversation with my sisters, I realized he was in there for a while now, and I thought I better go check on him. (great mom!) I opened the door, and to my great surprise....there it was... neatly piled- poop- on my carpet in my closet. All that came out of my mouth was a gasp of air...and I started to smell IT--in my closet. Carter just looked up at me....I think he was surprised too. I just had to laugh. Thank you Carter for making my ordinary day into extra-ordinary...and having me clean up a lovely mess. The joys of motherhood. Bring it on.

Race Car Cart Brings Smile To Boy

I have always been afraid of pushing this race car cart around a grocery store. Just looking at it, I picture myself running into things--and knocking things off the shelf, and everyone staring at me...or Carter flying out as I make a turn. But I know he would love it. And I always said to myself, that one day I will do it...when Chase is with me...to face my battle with the semi-like cart.

On Monday, my little boy was having one of those days, when everything made him cry. It was after dinner time, and very close to his bed time. So a fun outing with Carter was in order! So one- ice-cream-run-at-fry's-later, (for Chase--of course!) I was attempting to put Carter in the grocery cart, he began to cry. I looked at the car-cart...the big long...heavy cart...and I decided to be BRAVE. I told Carter, you are going in the fun cart. I put my serious face on and I BUCKLED him in the car...and a instant smile spread across his face. I went to the back to push it out..and it did not budge...one...inch. It was heavy! I started to feel hot, and felt the eyes of shoppers staring at me. Then the nice elderly man who worked there said, "here, let me help you with that." Thank you! Then it was time to cruise!!!! I did hit a few things in the store, but to see Carter so happy made up for it. He was turning the steering wheel, honking the horn, and he would look back at me and grin. I love these moments. So I got my ice cream, and realized I just can't check out now. So I went around the store, and up and down the aisles. Me and the huge race car cart... and my one very happy son. I am very pleased with myself for conquering my fear of pushing the race car cart. I do have to say that when the shopping was over, and I was TRYING to get him out, and into his car-seat--- was no easy thing. I made him cry again. But at least for a moment he was happy! Thank you amazing cart!!
