And a few more pages...

Okay, I am a terrible blogger.  I have started doing a little digital scrapbooking, and I'm sort of just writing what happens there.  So I figured if I can't do that and blog as well, I can at least throw some scrapbook pages on here- they have pictures and words, so it's almost the exact same thing, right?  (Humor me.)

This one is for Grandma and Uncle Kent!

We were lucky enough to spend this week at BYU for some camps.  Meredith went to a Writer's Conference- she is such a good writer.  It's fun to hear the creative ideas she comes up with.  Tomorrow we get to go to "Open Mic Afternoon" to hear the students stories.  It will be so fun.

Isaac has been at Cougar Football Camp all week.  This is his second year and he had a fantastic time again.  Today was especially fun, as Bronco Mendenhall came to meet the boys.  They took them into the football locker room and he talked to them, and then they had a chance to meet him one at a time to get autographs and pictures.  Here are Isaac's:

In Isaac's words, "This was the best day ever!!!"  I have to admit, I was geeking out a little bit myself.  The coaches invited the parents to come into the locker room to hear Coach Mendenhall speak, and then invited us to sit in the locker benches along the edges.  Well, I sat down and Coach Mendenhall told the boys to watch a video clip and came and sat next to me!   I'm just dorky enough that I was all flustered.   And Isaac kept looking over at me and giving me not-so-surreptitious thumbs ups!

We were so happy to stay with Grandma and Uncle Kent this week for a few days.  Thanks for tending us and taking care of us, Grandma!  And thank you for the treats, Uncle Kent- the juice boxes in particular may have saved our sanity!

Then we got to stay and Mandy and Jeremy's, and the kids are having a ball playing with cousins.  I really think BYU camp week is my favorite week of the whole year!

Join me in 2010 for a minute?

I found these videos today that I had totally forgotten.  So, let's go back to when Isaac had not yet mastered the "r" or "s" sounds, and Lucy is the spitting image of Eliza...

Isn't that so fun?  I should watch more old movies.  They make me happy! In fact, here's one more for the road- this one might just be my favorite.

If you don't care about sewing stuff, skip this post!

I needed a place to post some pictures of a sewing project, so I'm hijacking my family blog- if you aren't interested and you are my aunt or uncle or cousin, I apologize!  (Although some of the best seamstresses I know are my aunts and cousins- sorry to leave you out uncles, but if you sew I've never heard about it!)

For Lucy's 4th birthday party this year she wanted a baby doll tea party.  I combined bits and pieces from several tutorials I found online and made diaper bags, diapers, and wipes for the party guests. I thought they turned out pretty cute.

These are the wet wipe cases.  They are made of fleece and the flap opens up so they can pull out little pink fleece "wet wipe" squares.

These are the diapers.  I made enough for each girl to have three (because those babies can go through a lot of diapers, you know!)

After I finished the diapers, I realized that they would be SO much cuter with hearts appliqued on the back of the diapers.  So I did, and they were!

Then, I just had to try printing on fabric so I could make name tags for the diaper bags.  I didn't want the party guests to fight over who got which bag, so it seemed easier to have them pre-tagged.  I was thrilled that the fabric printing worked so well- you can't see in this picture very well, but the letters are pink with white polka dots.

The back of the name tags coordinate with their diaper bags.

These are the diaper bags.  I used a coordinating fabric line so they would be similar, but not the same.  I lined them in some super soft pink minky fabric, so they would be really soft.

Anyway, it was a pretty fun party and I was pleased with how the diaper bags turned out, especially when all the little party guests were playing with them.

(And for my family members, we are done with the sewing post- thanks for being patient!)

Ramblings...

I am a bad blogger.  (I know, I know... you're shocked, and I'm sure that the month long lapses in entries here would never have led you naturally to that conclusion.)

But I really liked this scrapbook page.  (Zane won't like it because there are no words. He likes the story.)  But I still like it, so I'm posting it.

I love Valentines Day.  (Or is that Valentine's Day?  If someone knows, please tell me.  I could Google it, but I'm tired and we have piano lessons at 6:30 in the morning.)  Either way it's spelled, however, I love it.  It's the very pinkest holiday.  I like it nearly as much as Easter, which is really saying something.  (Easter, for the record, is the second pinkest holiday.)

Are you thinking that you prefer a quiet blog to a rambling post that was clearly written when I was tired?

Isaac again!

We're sitting here watching BYU play in the Poinsettia Bowl, and Isaac said, "I just want to be on tv.  I don't even care if I have to be on a cooking show.  I just want a chance to walk right up to the camera and yell, 'I hate Utes!'"

I have a feeling Isaac's Great-Grandma Styler is so proud right now.
