Stitching, Flower Soft and Storage!

I knew I wanted to use this Butterfield paper by Memory Box:

I also knew I wanted to sew the outlines of the hills. Then I saw all those wonderful straight lines of the sun's rays and I figured why not go all the way and sew those outlines, too! Well, the card took me longer to complete, but I'm so glad I did all that sewing...it gave me a nice "quilted" look: ODBD shopping list:

Scripture Collection 1

Memory Box Butterfield 6x6 paper pad

Glimmer Mist Honey Dew

Flower Soft Sweet Pea

Glimmer Screens Winter Trees

Other supplies: MS butterfly punch, mini pearls, Versamark pad, black ep, white thread, sewing machine, Nestabilities oval, SU Pink Passion ink pad

I had remembered seeing small glass capsule charms and I wanted to fill it with something...anything! Then, Kathryn from the wonderful KDT blog offered a challenge to create a "thank you" card for the men and women who serve in our military. I hadn't entered many challenges but I knew I wanted to be involved in this one because I am so grateful to those who put themselves in the front lines of war to help protect our freedom.

Here's a simple and easy tutorial using Flower Soft and Glimmer Mists that I used to make this card:
What you'll need:

Mini glass capsule (by Darice, found in the beading/jewelry making section)

Flower Soft Ivory

Glimmer Mists in Sapphire and Candy Apple Red

Wax paper

Place a small amount of Flower Soft onto a sheet of wax paper. Spritz some Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist on the Flower Soft.

The wax paper allows you to mix the Flower Soft around the small pools of Glimmer Mist color. I used the handle of a paint brush to help coat the Flower Soft evenly. Using another clean sheet of wax paper, repeat the process with the Sapphire Glimmer Mist.

Once the colored Flower Soft is dry layering the colors in the capsule. I used the end of a paint brush to press the Flower Soft down so I can make nice, even layers. Cover with the cork and VOILÀ! Easy Peasy!

A quick, simple and AFFORDABLE storage solution for your collection of punches...an over-the-door shoe organizer!!! I got the stylish canvas organizer at Target for only $12.99, a super deal! It doesn't take any space at all. I placed my punches that I don't use very often on top, because, let's face it - I am vertically challenged! The punches I use on a regular basis are near the bottom for quick and easy access. This one is already filled with a few pockets I had to double up on so I'll place another one on the other side of the door. I hope you found some of these ideas helpful. Thanks for stopping by!

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY, ODBD!!!

It’s a Celebration!! Yes, you may be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, but I am also celebrating the One-year Anniversary at Our Daily Bread designs! It was one year ago today that owner Kelley Holland began her adventure. What a fun adventure it has been and look where we are a year later! Great products and inspirational stamps!

If you didn’t know about our Blog Hop and landed here by chance, there are goodies for you along the way and it’s important to hit the blogs in the order of the Hop. You’ll want to start out with Dina at Mama Dina’s Stamperia. If you followed me here from Angie's blog, Quacking Creations then you are in the right place and YOU'VE FOUND THE BLOG CANDY!

What's the candy and how do you get a chance to win it?

You can win this You Are The Potter set by simply leaving me a comment and telling me what new favorite product in the ODBD store you'd like to purchase next!

For a special grand prize, we are playing “Scripture Scramble!” Each blog has one or two words that you can collect at each stop and put together to make a scripture verse (NIV edition). Once you have collected all the words, send the verse in the correct order, along with the scripture reference by EMAIL to our DT Coordinator, Judy Rozema, at lidaroseroz@gmail.com. Correct entries will be put into a hat and the Grand Prize winner will receive a set of their choosing from Our Daily Bread designs AND
a selection of cards made especially for this celebration by some of the Design Team members. How cool is that?! Entries must be received by MIDNIGHT CST on March 19th.

Here is my Scripture Scramble word:
me

If you have the correct scripture verse you will find the word "me" 3 times. Good luck!!
******************************************************************************

Speaking of scriptures, today is the release of two new scripture sets: Design Team Scripture Collection 1 and Scripture Collection 2.

Each of the Design Team members chose a verse that is special to them and Kelley made it into special anniversary sets that are available for purchase today! If you buy both sets then you'll receive 10% off!
Here is my card with the verse I selected. I also made this for the CPS107 challenge:

I chose this verse because it was the only thing that helped me to understand why God had to take my beautiful father-in-law with him in heaven too soon. I needed to believe that dad served his purpose here on earth and God needed him now.

Thank you, Kelley, for creating these two wonderful collections!!!

Now, to continue on, next you’ll be visiting Betty at Stamping To The Wright. Wait until you see what she has to show you!

Scripture-A-Day Paint Can Tutorial featuring ODBD and where to find today's blog candy!

Oh, yes! We have another blog candy to give away and you'll find out where it is after reading through my Scripture-A-Day paint can tutorial.

I loved making this because it was not my usual altered can. I would always tie coordinating ribbons around the handle and use solid decorative paper around the can, but this time I wanted the scriptures to be the main focus, especially since the can was see-thru.

You will need:

* Several Our Daily Bread designs stamp sets (notice my stack of ODBD sets? LOL)
*1 clear paint can Add Image
*2 coordinating decorative papers to cover can
*coordinating light-weight cardstocks to stamp scriptures on
*ribbons
*fabric flowers
*Xyron sticker machine
*Nestabilities Small Classic Circles (largest circle in set)

Cut two pieces from your first sheet of decorative paper:
4 3/4" x 12 strip
2" x 12 strip

Run the two strips of paper through a Xyron sticker machine. If you are using die-cut scrapbook paper like the one I used, make sure to rub around the paper to remove excess adhesive. Wrap the longest strip first around the can. Adhere the smaller piece to cover the gap. It was easy to cut away this paper around the handles. If using regular decorative paper, mark off where the handle holes will be and use a circle punch to punch out the holes.

Cut a lid cover from your other decorative paper using the largest Nestabilities circle in the set. Run it through the Xyron machine and adhere it to the lid.

Put aside your paint can and select your favorite scriptures from your collection of ODBD stamp sets. I stamped my scriptures on beige, craft and olive green cardstocks. Once you have all the scriptures you want stamped, trim your pieces. Roll them into scrolls and secure with ribbon and fabric flowers. Make sure to not trim your cardstocks too small or else you won't be able to roll them into scrolls.

I tied burlap ribbon around the front of the can and since I had leftover flowers I secured a bundle through the knot.

Thanks for stopping by to see my tutorial! Now swing on over to Nancy Morgan's and Holly's blog for another tutorial and to find AWESOME BLOG CANDY!
