Summer Blossoms Card

Hello and welcome! It's Tuesday, and that means I have the honor of sharing a new project on the Maja Design Blog. This week I'm inspired by the abundant seasonal blooms found all across the lovely city of Charleston. Summer is my favorite time of year. My soul truly blossoms with the long sunny days, warm weather, and beautiful flowers.

You'll find quite a bit of layering along with a couple of my handmade wildflowers featured here. Each layer is artfully torn, distressed, and stitched together.

A tutorial for the wildflowers can be found in the sidebar of my blog. Lace adds a bit of vintage inspired texture. I rummaged around in my stash to find the pearl earring, glass pearls, and the Prima resin piece. Additional lace and twine create a frilly finishing touch.

The sentiment is rubber stamped in archival ink. If you look closely you'll notice a few butterflies have made a home here as well.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with me today. Are you wondering where you can find some of these fabulous papers for your projects? Click here for the storefinder, and before you know it you'll be happily creating in your own craft room. Don't forget to check out  Maja Design's June Mood Board Challenge. You have plenty of time to enter your lovely project for a chance to win an entire Maja Design paper collection! May your day be filled with sweet summer breezes and crafty inspiration!

Hugs,
Nancy-sign

You're My Inspiration Challenge!

Welcome, friends! I hope you're enjoying all the blessings of summer. All is well here. I'm honored to be hosting the newest challenge over at The Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog!

For the next two weeks our theme will be 'You're My Inspiration.' Simply find any type of image or photo that inspires you to create a vintage or shabby chic project. Please post your inspiration image on your blog along with your project, and tell us what it is you love about it. The inspiration image does not need to be included as part of your project, just on your blog post.

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at The Frilly and Funkie Blog. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique! For entry specifics and inspiration from my fabulous teammates just click on the blog link above.

My inspiration image is from Pinterest. I'd include a link to the original blog, but it is no longer functioning. My adoration of flowers, gardens, and all things vintage is well known. Oh, and the roses are pink, which is the icing on the cake! This old garden house seems to tell it's own story, even if that story is different for each person who views it. If I had the secret garden that lives in my mind's eye, this little shed would be in it!

The base papers are distressed, stitched, and layered. The boards for my card are created with wood embossed kraft cardstock and a shabby layer of paint. Design paper is also layered in there, as well as a die cut and distressed kraft frame. The sentiment is rubber stamped onto distressed kraft card.

A plethora of pink roses and leaves create the focal point.

Now I have my own shabby garden shed!
Thank you so much for spending your time with me. I can't wait to see the inspiration behind your own beautiful works of art! I send wishes for all things wonderful to come your way!

Hugs,

Maja Design Mood Board Challenge!

Hi! I hope you're having a lovely summer in your corner of the world. I'm super excited to share my Maja Design Mood Board Challenge project with you. If you've never participated, you'll want to start playing along right away, as the winner of the challenge receives an entire collection of Maja Design Paper! To make things even better, there's a brand new challenge every month! You'll find the mood board for June and all of the guidelines below, along with a few more photos.

This is how we use the mood boards:
Definition mood board – n
[a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other]
We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truly believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. Feel free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the color scheme.
We will pick a winner and present it on the Maja Design blog on December 26th.
Have in mind that these challenges are a really great way for us to discover new talents and maybe some future Creative Team members…

How to participate?
♥ Create anything you’ll like – a layout, a card, something altered or maybe a canvas, take a nice picture of it and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu. We also need to know your full name, address and a phone number. Please specify what collection you would like to win, if you are the lucky one. We will also want to know if you would like it in the size 12*12 or 6*6. Please send us the pictures in the size of 800 pixels on the width. We would be so grateful if you also could change the file name of the photo to your first and last name including your country.
♥ Feel free to send us more than one picture, from different angles or some close-ups – or why not more than one project?
♥ Publish the project/s on your blog (or/and any social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) with a link to our site. Please also add the picture of the mood board.
♥ Feel free to combine your entry with other challenges.
♥ The winner will be revealed the last Monday each month, at the Maja blog. The winner will be sent one collection by their choice, and also a digital Winner’s Badge to use and brag with.

I chose Maja Design's Vintage Summer Basics and Vintage Autumn Basics papers to create this card. You'll find distressed layers and stamping, along with handcrafted flowers, die cute embellishments, and bits and bobs from my stash.

I found this little Prima resin frame in my stash and knew it would be perfect for my project.

Thank you so very much for sharing your time with me. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful crafty family. It's time to turn the challenge over to y'all! I can't wait to see your beautiful interpretations of this gorgeous mood board!
