Christmas Cheer!

Hello! I'm so happy you're here today!!  I have a bit of Christmas cheer to share with you on this happy Tuesday. Are you in the midst of your holiday preparations? If so, then I'm certainly right there with you. Today I'm honored to share a Christmas card on the Maja Design Blogcreated with Maja Design's fabulously festive 'I Wish' collection.

The Santa Claus image and sentiment are part of the paper collection, and a perfect focal point for a cheery holiday card. The collection features many other vintage images that are equally delightful, making it a very difficult choice.
A simple spray of frosty greenery, pinecones, and berries adorn the right side of the card, with a loopy twine bow providing a finishing flourish.

There is actually quite a bit of dimension with this card, which I'll try to capture in the photos below, as well as a peek at the interior design. The design papers are distressed, layered, stitched, and popped up with foam adhesive.

Thank you so much for joining me. I count my blessings to be in the company of such wonderful people as yourself. I send wishes for happy crafting and a holiday season filled with peace and joy.

Hugs, Nancy-sign

Peace on Earth

I wish you a happy hello on this beautiful day! What have you been up to? I'm absolutely up to my ears in snowflakes. Not the cold kind that you sled in, because we don't get snow where I live, but the frilly and frosty paper ones that I make every year around this time for my Christmas cards. I start early with my cards because time seems to fly during November and December, and I'm also childishly excited over the Christmas holiday.

I'm blessed to be posting on the Maja Design Blog today, which is perfect because I never use anything but Maja Design papers for my snowflakes. It stays intact despite the delicate nature of the die cuts, and is perfect for layering into these dimensional flakes. For this first card of the season I've chosen the fabulous Vintage Frost Basics Collection.

The base of the card is formed as usual, by distressing, layering, and stitching the design papers. I'm sticking with just two colors this time around, because soft blues and whites create a wonderful chilly feeling when used together.

There are no flowers this time (which rarely happens for me), but instead an arrangement of layered snowflakes topped off with a bit of white sand texture paste for a truly frosty finish. Icy branches and tiny snowballs enhance the frozen effect.

A little bow graces the corner, simply because I love them and feel like nothing is finished without one.

Below is a peek at the interior of the card.

Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you're having a wonderful day filled with crafty goodness and plenty of Maja Design loveliness.

Hugs,
Nancy-sign

Autumn's Bounty!

Hello, sweet friends! I hope this day finds you happy and well. I've been in my craft room, whiling away some pleasant hours in creative pursuits. What have you been up to lately? Today I have the pleasure of posting on the  Maja Design Blog, which is always exciting for me. I may have mentioned previously that I love autumn. I can barely wait for that hint of chill in the air and nature's lavish display of color. This is when I spend my days with Maja Design's breathtaking Walking in the Forest paper collection. I find that this collection truly embraces the inspiring hues of the season, which is what I'm aiming for with today's card.

Each design paper is carefully distressed, layered, and stitched. The sentiment stamp has been on my desk just waiting for fall to arrive!

A die cut wreath forms an anchor for the plethora of leaves, berries, and flowers as they tumble down the front of the card.

A twine bow is tucked in along with the florals.

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you'd like to win a free collection of Maja Design papers, check out Maja Design's October Mood Board Challenge, there's still plenty of time to enter. Blossoms of Faith Card!

Hello and welcome, my friends! How are you doing? It's been a stressful couple of days for everyone, with the shock of the tragedy in Las Vegas. My heart is filled with incredible sadness for all of  lives touched in any way by this terrible event. Your life is never, ever the same after you've lost someone you love. I pray you and your families are safe and sound.

I'm actually posting on back to back days, and blessed to be sharing a project on the Maja Design Blog this lovely fall day. The October Mood Board Challenge launched yesterday with projects featuring Denim & Friends in crisp autumn hues. It is such fun working with fall colors, but today I'm using the collection in another way to showcase the versatility. It can be easy to assume it's primarily a masculine collection, but this card takes us in a completely different direction, with pretty florals and a soft palette.

The base of the card is prepared by distressing, layering, and stitching the design papers. The flowers that comprise the focal point are ones I received last year and rescued from my stash.

I added a bit of rubber stamping using a script stamp. A length of aged lace, jewel toned sprigs, and a twine bow complete the embellishments.

Thank you so much for taking a peek at my card. Don't forget about Maja Design's October Mood Board Challenge, and the chance to win an entire Maja Design paper collection! If you're wondering where you can find all of Maja Design's lovely papers, just click on STORE FINDER for a listing of the shops in your country. I send you wishes for refreshing autumn days, and warm, marshmallowy nights (I think Winnie the Pooh might have said the bit about the marshmallows:-))

Maja Design October Mood Board Challenge!

Hello, my friends, and happy October! I hope this post finds you well. Has your weather started to turn a little chill in the evening? We don't have that yet in Charleston, but it's still autumn, one of my favorite times of year. I adore the rich, vibrant hues of this season. My husband and I just returned from a holiday in the mountains, where the sights (and flavors) of  fall are in full swing. We had the best time, and I sampled my very first pumpkin treat of the season!

It's also time for Maja Design's newest Mood Board Challenge! You'll find the inspiration board below, along with all of the details for playing along with the challenge.

This is how we use the mood boards:
Definition mood board – n
[a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other]
We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truly believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. Feel free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the color scheme.
We will pick a winner and present it on the Maja Design blog on December 26th.
Have in mind that these challenges are a really great way for us to discover new talents and maybe some future Creative Team members…

How to participate?
♥ Create anything you’ll like – a layout, a card, something altered or maybe a canvas, take a nice picture of it and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu. We also need to know your full name, address and a phone number. Please specify what collection you would like to win, if you are the lucky one. We will also want to know if you would like it in the size 12*12 or 6*6. Please send us the pictures in the size of 800 pixels on the width. We would be so grateful if you also could change the file name of the photo to your first and last name including your country.
♥ Feel free to send us more than one picture, from different angles or some close-ups – or why not more than one project?
♥ Publish the project/s on your blog (or/and any social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) with a link to our site. Please also add the picture of the mood board.
♥ Feel free to combine your entry with other challenges.
♥ The winner will be revealed the last Monday each month, at the Maja blog. The winner will be sent one collection by their choice, and also a digital Winner’s Badge to use and brag with.

I used two of Maja Design's collections to bring my project to life; Denim & Friends and Vintage Autumn Basics (for the handmade flowers). I'm always impressed with how easily the different paper collections work together. Below are some close up photos of the details.

Thank you so much for being here with me today. I am beyond grateful for my wonderful crafty family. I hope you're enjoying the delights of autumn with your loved ones. Don't forget to fit in some creative time for Maja Design's October Mood Board Challenge! If you're wondering where you can find these beautiful papers, just click on STORE FINDER for a shop near you. I send you wishes for all things good and wonderful,

Hugs,
