Big Breakfast house to be sold

The Big Breakfast house is being sold as a family home and is expected to fetch more than £1m.

Lock Keepers Cottage in Bow, east London, is going on the market exactly as it was when the early morning show came to an end.

The programme finished on 29 March after nearly 10 years on air.

A Channel 4 spokesman said the property had been handed over to estate agents and the sale would include large gardens, swimming pool, terrace, living room and pavilion.

The show was launched by then unknowns Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin, who have gone on to enjoy great success in other TV and radio ventures.

Double-act Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen also proved popular presenters, drawing large audiences to the breakfast slot.

Slump

But presenters Richard Bacon, Amanda Byram and Mike McClean saw ratings slump to 250,000 towards the end of its 10-year run and the show was finally axed.

There had been rumours that the show's founder Bob Geldof would blow up the house on the final day.

Instead, the show's presenters signed off with a song and computer tricks were used to make the lock-keeper's cottage look like it had disappeared.
