Crescent City Snow

~Editilla gotta toll'ya~ When Mz. Cowsill put out this song, 2008, I was still on a long road home in Memphis, quite deep into Kafkatrina Nightmare, certified insane and still tighter than a grenade pin... but online for the first time in my life... and it snowed in New Orleans! Aaaaand our New Orleans Saints won the Super bowl the next year!

Rejoice, rejoice! We have no choice… (Part 1) ~moosedenied~Welp. Welcome to another offseason, bitches. Might wanna grab yourself a drink and settle in for a while, because we're about to go all TL;DR on your asses. Even moreso than usual, that is.
WARNING: There will be math. Lots and lots of math. Lies, damn lies, advanced lies and statistics (both advanced and remedial.) We will also be pulling some things straight out of our asses and asking you to accept it as credible analysis. So while we eagerly await what are sure to be incredibly entertaining 2013 post-mortem pieces from our friends over at SaintsWin, AngryWhoDat and the Yellow Blog, let's try to get our money's worth out of that PFF subscription and see if we can't figure out just what the hell happened in 2013 and the manner in which we should carry on from here. Hope you brought your commemorative plain white towels, because we're also gonna go for a new record for longest moosedenied post ever. We're about to go Full Grantland up in this bitch! High five?

GreenARMY Plans "Louisiana Water Festival" ~Jeremy Alford, LaPolitics
http://gogreenarmy.com/
~Russel HonorĆ©, the retired Army lieutenant general turned activist, said he’s working to get 10,000 people to show up at the State Capitol on March 8, two days before the regular session kicks off. The gathering is being called “The Louisiana Water Festival” and will help preview the package of environmental justice bills HonorĆ© and his so-called “Green Army” will be pushing during the session. “We’re going through the application process now to use the grounds,” he said. “But this is not about disobedience. This is about celebration and information. Water is the strength of our state and without clean, fresh water the whole of Louisiana becomes a different state and different culture. We’ve never had a problem with water, but now it’s at an emergency status in some places.”

Live blog: Lawyers suing oil & gas industry to appear before Jindal's CPRA Koch Suckers ~Bob Marshall, The Lens
~The Lens will live-blog what could be a wetlands’ version of “High Noon” at Wednesday’s meeting of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority. Attorneys for the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East say they have accepted an invitation from coastal chief Koch Sucker Garret Graves to present their client’s case for its controversial lawsuit against oil and gas companies for coastal land loss – which Graves strongly opposes.

Dear Editilla,

Opposition to the Big Oil Lawsuit has not been quashed yet.

At the last meeting in December, members of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East were criticized for filing this historic lawsuit.

http://restorelouisiananow.org/ The suit demands that the oil and gas industry fix the damage it caused to our coast.

We need to show the SLFPA-E board members that we are still here in strong support.

It is critical that we continue to show our support for the Big Oil Lawsuit. #SLFPAElawsuit
WHAT: Board Meeting
WHEN: Thursday, January 16th, 9:30 AM
WHERE: 2nd Floor Council Chambers, Joseph Yenni Bldg,
1221 Elmwood Park Blvd., Harahan, LA.

Please join me on Thursday morning. I'll meet you at the door and give you a big lapel button.

Thank you for your support. With your help, we are winning.

http://arielleschecter.blogspot.com/2014/01/st-claude-main-street-has-volunteers.html
~Editilla Hotellas~ I woke early this morning with my first thought: Saints Game Day! Then my second thought was Out Of Coffee. Walking across St Cloud to Mike's for coffee, my 3rd thought remains: What The Fuck Is This, illegally placed Katrina Shorthand on La State Hwy 49? And btw does anyone know this asshole below? He recognized me from the video cam I flipped the bird at after seeing the monstrosity of Katrina Shorthand above and then all their NO LOITERING signs in every window of Bywater Art Gallery. Though he knew my name, blog and twitter handle, he wouldn't give me his name while harassing me as I tried to walk to Mike's. He said he doesn't believe the Corps of Engineers floodwalls failed, maintains Katrina flooded Bywater. Says he was standing on this spot 8-29-05. I'da taken his friend's pic but he physically threatened me.
UPDATE: My many Bywater friends on twitter gave me this sociopath's name: Maurice Slaughter. The morning later would see him honking his horn continuously whilst screaming my name across St. Claude Ave, pulling over to take picks of my front door and then even accosting me in front of my home, screaming: "Bruce, I've got you! I know where you live!" Well, Maurice, you ignorant slut, Editilla gots yous by the Spades.

Ani DiFranco's plantation retreat canceled after online protests ~Alison Fensterstock
~Editilla Hotellas~ I can't stand most of Mz DiFranco's bitchy angst'filled creepola fans. Hence, I got 2 tickets to see her perform at House of Blues, Jan 4th. because I've been enjoying her music since she was relentlessly driving around the country, selling her hand-made vinyl records (large round disks with small holes) out of the trunk of her beat-up little car. She is one of the most absolutely motherfucking badass guitarist, composer and songwriter I've ever heard hands down. I've always wanted to watch her play to see what the fuck she does to her fingers to play the way she does. I want to see to her sing and cavort about all whatever the fuck she wants. I hope she does this song, one of my favs she recorded in New Orleans on the CD "to the teeth". Really, dear po'bent racist Ani fans, bless yer heart and suck it to the teeth.

Battle Of The Bottom Feeder: U.S., Vietnam In Catfish Fight ~Jackie Northam, NPR
~Bill Battle has been catfish farming for more than three decades. Catfish has always been popular in the South, but its popularity took off throughout the country in the 1980s. Battle says they could hardly build ponds fast enough to keep up with the demand.
But he has watched with alarm over the past decade as Vietnam has flooded the U.S. market with its own, cheaper catfish, forcing him to cut back on production. "At one time, I was 3,000 acres. Now I'm basically about 1,200 acres of water," he says.
