Hi, Mo's OH here,

First off, apologies to the excellent entries for lack of feedback,

Mo has been ill in hospital and has not been able to moderate this blog as much as she would like.

As soon as Mo is out, and feeling up to it, the blog will relaunch.  Those that have entered this last challenge will still be recognised, don't know how as yet.

I hope that you (the reader) pop by again and, if not already done so, be encouraged to enter.

Apologies for the shortness of this post, and to the entrants and potential entrants.

Regards,
Mo's OH.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible following this short suspension (please imagine some musak in the background).

Sarah's Challenge

Hi Everyone, Mo's OH here with a dictated post from a poorly person.  Mo didn't want the challenge to be delayed so she sends you her best and hopes to be with you very soon.

Our first challenge was a great success with some fantastic entries which we hope to see again on our Second Challenge for
It is the turn of the wonderfully talented Sarah Dunkley aka SezzieD to choose our theme this month.  We will also find out some more about her as she introduces herself to you in more detail. Lets welcome Sarah!

Hiya my lovelies!
I'm proper chuffed to be hosting this month's challenge!
Let me start by introducing myself...

Ok well, I'm a wife & mum of 4 & I also have 3 step-kids & 3 step-granddaughters (no, I'm not old enough!) I work at a local primary school as a teaching assistant, so I guess children seem to be major part of my life! In the photo below is a Chinese dragon I made for last years school production. It's made from a veg box, some plastic bottles & a few other bits & bobs!
Chinese Dragon.

Before I became a Teaching Assistant, I was a self employed mixed media artist. I ran workshops & sold my work at local art markets & emporiums. I also made bespoke commissions.

This commission was a cutlery box which I turned into a jewellery box.

This commission was a personalized shadow box.

I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which has made me rethink & re-prioritise things. I have decided to work part time in the next school year to give myself some more 'down time'.

I really only make items as gifts or as 'therapy' now. Maybe in the future it will change, maybe it won't, I just take everyday as it comes!

Boot bracelets on my boots.
Wall art for my studio.
I'm an easy going hippy chick, who embraces the unconventional. I am comfortable with my weirdness & not afraid to let my inner self shine! My style of art is not to everyone's taste but I have fun doing what I do, in the way I do it and that's what matters!

So without further ado here's my theme for this month's challenge...

Digital

Hi Everyone, we have had some beautiful entries so far! Thank you to all of our new Followers i do hope you will all join in at some stage as i am excited to see how you all interpret our challenge.

I am here to help clarify the DIGITAL part of the challenge for you.

If you have created anything by your own hand, a drawing, a photograph, a painting or a mixed media project which has then been digitally (computer) changed you can enter this under DIGITAL.

20150423_004619

Took a picture with my phone of my original drawing and saved this on my handset.

2015-04-23 00.47.32_Antonio_Floor_Feather1

Used an App called Pixlr-O-Matic on my phone to apply filters, colours and a frame, when i was happy with how it looked i sent this to my printer. I printed off  a couple of copies so i could use one as a transfer onto a piece of card (the second is for back up in case it all goes wrong lol) this can then be used in a mixed media project.

Another way of getting your face or flower onto a computer is to scan it into the computer and then open up (for example) Serif Craft Artist Professional, i can then add this to a digital background, add embellishments etc. Your saved file can then be printed off and changed into a mixed media piece by adding paints, pencils, ribbons, more hand drawn projects (the list is endless) etc.

You can also draw your faces or flowers using a piece of software like Draw Plus which our DT member Deborah Wainwright uses. Brian Raymond uses Adobe Photoshop and Sarah Dunkley also uses Serif Craft Artist.

You can also enter anything that has been designed by you for cutting our with an electronic die cutting machine.  For example a stencil you have designed or a flourish or swirl, bird or cupcake you have designed using the software programme that came with your die cutting machine. i use a Pazzles Inspiration electronic die cutting machine to cut out my own designs.

If you own an embroidery machine and have designed your own files, these can be used.

If you make your own rubber stamps, these can be used but they must be your own design not a die cut turned into a stamp.

If you have written any books or magazine articles these can be used.

I do hope i have managed to explain how easy the digital part of our challenge is, if you need any more clarification or you have any questions please leave them in the comments section and i will get back to you with an answer.

Looking forward to seeing your mixed media projects, you still have 17 days left to join in! Please pass the word along and Follow us so that you don’t miss any posts.
