Sure, the market is already swimming in competitive multiplayer first-person shooters, but when id Software launched Rage in 2011 without team deathmatch, it felt Paul-Reubens-not-wearing-his-Pee-Wee-Herman-outfit wrong. Yes, the studio that created team deathmatch decided it would be a good idea not to include the competitive mode in its FPS. That's a problem we can fix. And by "we" I mean all you talented modders out there. The Rage Tool Kit is launching on Steam later today, opening the hood on idTech 5.
The Rage Tool Kit should be available once Steam updates at roughly 1pm EST. Head to the Tools section of Steam to grab it. It's a hefty 35GB download, so make sure you've got room on your hard drive, and get started building the competitive multiplayer shooter mode Rage deserves by reading this quick Welcome to Rage Tool Kit guide.
Here's to hoping the potential id Software packed into Rage is unleashed by the modding community.
