My finally finished project

It only took me 9 months, but I finally finished my picture project. My sister-in-law, Shawna, took some great family pics for us last May. I've wanted to put a collage of pictures on our huge empty wall, and wanted to use black frames but have them all a little different. Sounds simple enough, right?! Well I was wrong. It was so much more work than I thought to find black frames that were the right size. The biggest problem I had was that I wanted a large center frame for a family picture. Is it just me, or are frames just ridiculously over priced?! I finally found a company online with a reasonable price, but they had to ship me 3 frames before I received one that wasn't broken. It also didn't come with any glass or backing on it like I was told it would. After a lot of back and forth with them I kind of gave up on the project. Well maybe I'm nesting already or something, but I finally decided that I just needed to get it up. I didn't use the big frame because I figured I would get another family picture taken in a few months when the baby comes. I'll just need to move the center pictures to the outside, and pop in the big one. It feels good to finally have it done. Thanks again Shawna for all the great pictures!

Ready to go!

Last week I sent Ethan to his room for a time out. When I went to go get him I found him with his bags packed! He had found the big diaper bag we use when we travel and had packed it with the essentials. It was stuffed full of diapers, underwear, his snow hat, and of course a baseball.

I tried to put the things away and he got upset with me and told me we needed to keep them in there in case we go on a long trip. At least he's prepared!

Ethan's Birthday!

Ethan's birthday was yesterday. I can't believe my little guy is four already! I asked him earlier this week what he wanted to have for dinner for his birthday and he said, "peanut butter and jelly sandwiches". I told him we couldn't do that for dinner so he decided on spaghetti. I wasn't up for a big party this year so we had a small get together with Grandparents and of course Uncle Trevor for dinner and some cake tonight. Last night when he realized that we weren't going to have cake he was so upset and told me that he couldn't turn four until he had his cake, so according to Ethan he didn't officially turn four until today.
A few weeks ago we were watching the food network and they had people competing to make cakes after pixar films. These people were professional bakers and made some amazing stuff. Well, after seeing the Monster's Inc. cake Ethan's been telling me that he wanted a monster cake for his birthday, no pressure!!
I've been going crazy trying to figure out how I could pull this off. Well after some collaboration this is what we came up with. It's pretty pathetic compared to the food network, but I thought that Rob's creative placement of the candles was quite genius.

I think Ethan liked it too.

Of course we had to have some presents for the big boy, he was pretty excited to get this dino hot wheels toy he's been asking for.

Happy Birthday Ethan!!

We love you!!

Daddy's Helpers

New Year's Day Rob decided to put some shelves together so we can have a place to put our food storage in the garage. Of course the boys had to help. It was so cute to see them working together, and taking their jobs so seriously!
Porter's assignment was to put the screws in...

Ethan got to use the ratchet, ( I think that's what it's called!) he figured out how to do it by himself and was quite proud that he didn't need any help with it.

The finished project...

Now we just need to get some food to put on it...sounds like a good resolution.
