BOAT Races at Firebird Raceway
Blake's dad was so kind to give us tickets to the Boat Races at Firebird International Raceway this weekend, we had a great time! It wasn't too loud for the kids at first but BIG boats were last and they seriously made the ground shake and you could feel it through your whole body - needless to say Weston cried every time so we ended up leaving a little early (I do need to point out that both kids had ear plugs in)
This is how almost all the boats were worked on, they practically had a whole shop set up in the parking lot!
There were a lot of boats in this race and they did actual laps.
The other races usually just had 2 boats at a time or sometimes even 1 boat by itself in a straight away for time.
This is how excited Ashlyn was toward the end - actually we were watching a guy get rescued from crashing his boat and it took them awhile to get him to the ambulance, she got kind of bored!
This is what's left of a yellow boat who flipped end over end at 200mph and his engine is now at the bottom of the lake, he is inside that capsule looking thing and is waiting for the rescue boat to get him, the rest of his boat pretty much disintegrated and pieces were all over - it took a good 20 minutes to clear the water and get him out of the capsule and he was air lifted out, they said he was alright though!
This was the next boat and he didn't have any problems - The guy that wrecked, his boat used to look just like this one except ALL yellow
We left right after that because the kids were done, but it was so fun and we'd probably go again if given the chance!
