The kids had crazy hair day at school this month. Makenna wanted pig tails that stuck out. It was tricky with the amount of hair she has but we finally found a way to use electrical wire to get them to stand out.
Carter has been wanting to do a mohawk for crazy hair day for over a year. We shaved his head and he LOVED it. We said he could keep it until he had to go to church. It was fun for a few days and definitely had a huge shock factor.
Girls Weekend
These pictures are out of order but to make it easy I'm going to go with it. Last weekend I was able to fly to Phoenix where I met 12 (!!!!!) of my girlfriends from Albuquerque for a girls weekend! I had an amazing group of friends in ABQ and we are a very social group. A few of us moved last summer and we were dying to get together. It was so much fun being together for a few days. We shopped, ate, sat in the sun, shopped some more, stayed up way too late talking, had a craft night, did a favorite things swap, drank obscene amounts of diet Coke, ate and shopped. It was a blast and even though I came home exhausted it was totally worth it and a mental recharge.
We had these shirts made for us and wore them around one day. We got stopped so many times with people asking us about our shirts. It was kind of dorky but mostly really fun!
Some of our purchases from 2 days of shopping. 13 women can do A LOT of damage.
Enjoying cupcakes from Sprinkles!
It was seriously so so much fun and I am grateful that we have all kept in touch and took the time to get together. I love these ladies! We are already hammering out the details for next years trip!
Spring Break
We were really hoping to get away for a Spring Break trip this year. Unfortunately with Allen's YM responsibilities this summer that will require several days of vacation time, we decided to stick closer to home and do a shorter trip. We decided to spent a few days at a resort near Mt. Hood in Oregon. It is built on an Indian reservation and was really secluded and beautiful. The resort has huge pools and water slides that are all fed by natural warm springs. It was awesome. The water was SO warm (about 95 degrees) and we spent hours in the pools every day swimming and playing. It was only about 60 degrees outside but we were toasty warm in the pools. Our kids had the best time and keep asking if we can go back soon.
We also took the older kids horseback riding one morning. I love riding horses and was excited for the kiddos to give it a try. Emery wasn't old enough so I went with the other kids on a trail ride. It was windy and chilly but everyone had a really good experience.
On our way home we had to stop at a fry bread stand to get Navajo tacos. Allen grew up eating these in AZ and loves them. Yum!
We drove through Portland on the way home and made a stop at Voodoo donuts. Best donuts around! Yum. We also met my sis and her family for dinner and then decided to spend the night in Portland to spend more time with them.
We had a great little trip and it was so nice to unplug for a few days and be together!
Allen and I also celebrated 12 years of marriage this month! Hooray! Allen is a trooper and we were apart for the 3rd year in a row. I made him this fun gift basket with 12 gifts with notes attached about some of the reasons I love him. He was very surprised since we decided not to do gifts this year since we are in the process of redoing our bedroom with new furniture and a new mattress. We will be going on our anniversary date this weekend!
So there you go, April in a nutshell. We still have 7 weeks of school but things are starting to pick up as the year is wrapping up!
