Mom Frost flew in on Friday morning. I picked her up from the airport and we went to see Allen at work. She was able to visit the visitor center and we had lunch together at work. It was fun for her to see Allen in his work environment. Allen's cousin was also in town interviewing for jobs and he was able to join us for lunch.
When the big kids got home from school they immediately begged for a tea party. Grandma always packs lots of goodies and brings her tea set to have parties with the kids. It's her "thing" she does with all her grandkids and my kiddos love it. This is the spread she brought to get them through the weekend!
On Saturday morning we went to Carter and Makenna's piano recital (more details in another post) where they both did a great job. Then we headed into downtown Seattle to have lunch on top of the Space Needle. We have been wanting to go to the top and figured out it wasn't much more expensive to go to the restaurant up there than to just go to the top. We loved it because the restaurant rotates so you get to view all of the Seattle area at a really relaxed pace. It was really, really fun.
Enjoying our dessert. Unfortunately you can't see the Puget Sound in the background but the views were stunning.

On Saturday night Allen and I were able to sneak off on a date and bought a much needed new mattress and new bedroom furniture. We have been looking for a long time and finally decided to take the plunge!
On Sunday morning we hung around the house. Grandma taught Carter how to make her famous Apple Pie. Carter had such a fun time learning and keeps asking to try doing it on his own.
We had plans on Monday morning to do something outside but the weather was miserable so we decided to go back downtown to go to the Aquarium. It is a fun place and the kids loved the huge touch pools that you can feel different sea creature in. Emery wanted no part of it but loved looking from afar.
We had a wonderful time visiting with Allen's mom and are so glad she was able to come for the weekend! Yay for the kick off to summer!
