LAST POST

Well hello all....seems like I keep saying I will get back into blogging more than I have in the past few months. So with that I decided to create a new blog with just the ones who I have been pretty much friends since I started this blog. I also wanted to be able to label my post a better efficient way. I guess you can say I have a better grasp of using blogger than when I started. It would have taken me forever to move things around on this blog and so this was another reason to create a new one.

So now I hope you will start following me on my new blog. Come on over and get use to me blogging NOW on a regular schedule and visiting you also more often than in the past. If your not on my friends list it is only because I have not put all my friends on yet. So please do follow anyway!

Welcome to mosey on over to Georgia Girl and follow me!

GETTING TO KNOW ME BETTER

Thought I would play along with this question and answer from another blog I saw. Not sure where it was from but thought it would be fun to play along and share with my fellow bloggers a little bit more about me.

What's your favorite rainy day activity?

Sleeping and laying around being lazy!

What time do you go to bed?
Oh my! It seems the older I am the less sleep I get...well maybe it is I can't fall asleep unless I take some doze meds. I don't know why this is going on but I hate it. So lately I go try and lay down around 9pm and toss and turn till I fall out.

How many magazines do you subscribe to?

I said this year I was not going to get anymore because I have got tons of magazines right online with you guys. You have everything a magazine has so why keep paying for them to show up and clutter my home. However, I still have BHG and Country Living coming till they run out. Another thing I found out through reading blogs is the My Coke Rewards and since I am a coke addict I have gotten a few free magazines. Marie Claire is one of those and it gives me lots of up to date fashions and makeup info.

Did you sell all your belongings because you thought the world was ending yesterday?

LOL...I didn't even know anything about this till today. I did hear something funny about this on the radio coming to work that the man who predicted this also predicted who would win IDOL tonight....James Durbin...lol....

What's your beauty obsession?

Don't have one but I have started buying the minerals makeup and love it...saw on Ebay you can buy it and cheaper than their website. I use Bare Minerals and will use it till I die or they quit making it. It has made a difference in my complexion. I use to use Clinque.

If you could only wear one designer/brand for the rest of your life...what would it be?

I am not a "brand" person...I just shop for things I like!

What's your summer must have?

time by the pool!

Do you make weekly dinner menus?

no...they are lucky if I cook during the week...sad I know...but when I do cook I cook quick foods. I do more of my (bulk) cooking on the weekend and then we eat those dishes for the week. So much easier on me!

Hope you have learned a little bit more about me...hope you join in and share things with me about you. I think I will try and do this once a week. Maybe I can figure how to do a linky.

SUMMER GOODNESS

I was reading over at Melissa's blog about some recipes her family has tried over the last few months. Well it got me to thinking about posting a couple of my favorite summer dishes. Do you have seasonal recipes that you fix only during the season?

Tomato Pie
4 tomatoes, peeled and sliced
10 fresh basil leaves, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1 (9-inch) prebaked deep dish pie shell
1 cup grated mozzarella
1 cup grated cheddar
1 cup mayonnaise
Salt and pepper

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Place the tomatoes in a colander in the sink in 1 layer. Sprinkle with salt and allow to drain for 10 minutes.
Layer the tomato slices, basil, and onion in pie shell. Season with salt and pepper. Combine the grated cheeses and mayonnaise together. Spread mixture on top of the tomatoes and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
To serve, cut into slices and serve warm.

Another favorite:

Vidalia Onion Pie

1 1/2 cups crushed buttery round crackers (Ritz or Town House)
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 tbs butter
2 cups sliced sweet onions
2 eggs
3/4 cup half-and-half or buttermilk
3/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a medium bowl, mix together crushed crackers and 1/3 cup melted butter
Press mixture firmly into a 9 inch pie pan
Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Melt 2 tablespoons butter and saute onions

Spread into prepared crust.
In a medium bowl, mix together eggs, half-and-half, salt, and pepper

Pour mixture over onions then sprinkle top with shredded cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, until center is set.

Happy Summer Eating!

Cheese Ball

2 (8 oz) package of cream cheese

1 small can of crushed pineapple

small Vidalia onion (chopped)

1 small bell pepper (chopped)

dash of season salt

2 cups of crushed pecans or walnuts

Mix all together reserving 1 cup of nuts. Then shape in summer type mold and put remaining nuts on cheese ball.

Enjoy, love fixing this recipe in the summer times. It is even better with fresh pineapple. Saw the strawberry mold and thought it would be neat to share. This would be yummy to use strawberries instead of pineapple. Either way you go it is a yummy recipe.
