Thrifty Finds - Mid September

Brass numbers. I love them! Actually, I love all numbers and letters and grab them when I find them for a good price. These were a good price.

I found three of them in an unexpected place - a surplus outlet store.

I also found a nice linen curtain for my middle bedroom, but you'll see that in another post!

These birds are gold - not the greatest gold, so I'll paint them white. I think they're resin. I may either keep them or list them on Etsy.

This plate caught my eye, and I was pleased to see it's a Fitz and Floyd plate from 1976.

The white glaze has an iridescent quality - very shell-like.

It's going to Etsy.

So it this miniature wicker chair.

and this miniature twig chair.

Sneak Peek - Vignettes in the Middle Bedroom

Just when I tell you I still like an all white environment, here's a little infusion of aqua and blue...

My furniture and all the foundation pieces in the room are still going white, but I decided to have a little fun with the accessories. I'm putting bird & garden things in this room for now. Of course, they can all be easily swapped out if I feel the need for change.

Everything in the photo above was found at a thrift store, except the aqua pot on top of the books. It was a gift years ago from my MIL.

The vintage garden books, bird cage and alabaster bird were all thrifted. The gate picture frame was found years ago in a garage sale. The wood trellis was bought in a "real store" years ago.

The watercolor print was a thrift store find, as was the aqua saucer on which the faux greenery in the painted terra cotta pot is sitting.

This wall art is all from thrift stores. It has been revised with homemade plaster paint.

The butterflies have just the faintest touch of aqua blue.
All they needed were to have the frames painted and distressed a bit.

I still have plenty to do in this room; curtains to hang, a headboard project, a French chest of drawers and chair to paint some shade of white, not to mention bedding. I did buy some new white sheets...and a French linen curtain. Maybe next weekend I'll have more progress to show you!

Word for the Day:
Matthew 6:25-34
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? ...
