Sage is 2!

I can't believe our baby is 2 already.  Brannon and I were just talking about that night when unexpectedly, the waters broke and we knew we were going to finally meet our sweet youngest daughter.  She was the most difficult of the three to deliver yet the least amount of time spent in labor.  I remember knowing as soon as I held her in my arms that she was completing our family, and what a way to wrap it up.  She has so much spirit and energy, you just want to pull her into a hug and hold her forever!  Of course she doesn't want to be restrained for too long and will soon tell you, "I'm yuck" (stuck), pleading for you to let go.

Knowing she is our last baby, I have tried to enjoy every little milestone.  From babbling and crawling to walking and talking, Sage is such a joy to be around.  She can just look at you and you can't help but feel pure happiness.  Even when she is being a stinker, I swell with pride at having the opportunity to be her mother.  She certainly lights up a room.

Every day I look at my three girls and feel overcome with the love that I have for them.  I feel so blessed to share this time with them and hope they know how much their mother loves each one of them.

To Sage, you are the icing on the cake.  You make everything a little better.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!
WE LOVE YOU!

A new house?

We were looking at a house. We saw it twice in one day. I see the potential in the house inside and out. It would be a lot of work. But it would be my house. It would be small for us at first. We would make it grow to fit us. For two days it was my dream. Today it's in the past. I'm okay with that.

School is in Session!

The time has come, the season is here, SCHOOL HAS STARTED!!! Can I get a woot, woot! Can you tell I'm a happy momma? After this past summer I couldn't wait for school to start! Let me also say that these two were just as happy and excited as their mother.

Alexis started at the end of August. She is in 2nd grade, and let me just say... it was sooo much easier to let her go this year.  No tears whatsoever, for either party.  I knew she could do it and I knew life was not going to end for me having her gone all day long.  It's been great for both of us!  She is absolutely loving it! She loves her teachers, yes plural.  She is in the dual immersion Spanish program again this year and is becoming quite the little Spanish speaker! She is excited to be back with all her friends and is constantly asking for a playdate with so-and-so! I'm glad she's happy and enjoys school!

Alexis' first day of school!

Holland started a couple weeks later.  This one was a little bit harder to handle.  I have had some anxieties about sending this one off to school. Anyone who knows Holland knows that she is a wee bit shy, and I have been worried about whether she would participate once she was there.  She certainly has shown me! She loves it. She does pull the shyness out when she first gets there but it only takes a minute before she is playing with the other kids.  In fact the first day she brought home a "getting to know you" sheet she needed to fill out. Under the "favorite place to go" section she quickly responded, "Preschool!"  She loves to tell me about the things they are doing and shows me all her fun "treasures" she gets from her teacher!  I already know I will be sending Sage to this same preschool,  I love her teacher! She has taken Holland under her wing from day 1 and I will forever be grateful for the love she shows my little girl.

Holland's first day of school!

Some other things that have happened in the last month...

Alexis got her cast off! The Sunday before her appointment, she figured out that she could pull her cast up a few inches, but I wouldn't let her take it completely off until she was at the doctor's.  She asked her doctor if she could just pull it off, and with the "okay" she did!  No saw needed on this one.  Her little arm looked even littler if that's even possible, and she had a definite tan line on her arm.  Of course she was told that she still had to take it easy and be careful.  One good fall and it would be broken again!  She has done very well at taking it easy, and is using her arm more and more every day!

Holland started soccer!  I can't help but laugh even when I say it, but yes we are once again heading to the soccer fields every Saturday morning.  There was a mix-up in the beginning because she didn't get on the team we had requested so I'm almost pulled her out, but there was another little friend on her team so we decided to stay on.  I don't know that I can say that she loves it, because I don't think she really does.  She gets excited when we talk about it, and when we say we get to go, but once she's there it takes a little coaxing to get her out there.  Her coach... I love him as well.  He has noticed Holland's shyness and he has taken her in and gets her out there on the field.  I'm really glad now that the mix-up happened because who knows how the other coach would have handled her.

And last, but certainly not least, Sage and I go walking in the mornings! When we get home... she continues to listen to my music and dances! This girl loves music and dancing! We have two mornings a week when it is just me and her.  It's kind of weird to have her solo, but we are getting all sorts of things done, and having a blast spending time together.  She is talking, talking, talking! Every day she has more to say. I can actually have a conversation with her!  Just this morning she was talking to Brannon asking if she could get on our bed.  When her replied no she couldn't, she questioned, "why?" Here we go!

Richardson Summer 2010

Okay so maybe I was feeling a little sorry for myself in my last post. I don't know why I'm whining about people posting on my blog when I haven't been blog stalking and leaving comments much myself.  So let's just forget how much I suck for a bit and do a little catch up. I can't believe I'm going to this, but here we go...

So what have the Richardson's been doing since July 19th? Well I'll tell you! Four days after we got home from the cabin trip we left for Bear Lake with the van Keizerswaard family where we:

Played games...

Went swimming at the pool...

Played on the boat...

Went miniature golfing...
And played at the beach!

We came home a few days early due to a power outage at the condo and the main office was uncertain as to when we would get it back. Since I was going to be the only one left up there, I didn't want to stay with the girls and have no power at night, so we decided to drive home with my mom!

A couple days later we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Felt family! We spent a night hanging out with them in which these two had a blast catching up!

At the end of the month we made a much awaited (by my dad) trip to Opa's "farm"! Where we:

Went on canoe rides around the pond...

Nana brought boats to float down the river, so we raced them...

We went on a horse ride...

...and then the real fun began!

My dad was leading with my friend Amber's son, Treycen, riding with him. Behind him was Alexis on her own horse, followed by Amber with her daughter and then me on my own horse. We headed off for a little ride around the property. As we started into some long grass a pheasant flew up spooking my dad's and Alexis' horses. Alexis horse side stepped and she flew off the side. Her horse continued to buck and rear up with Alexis at his feet resulting in...

... a trip to the Emergency Room, and a broken arm!

At first we thought her horse had stepped on her arm because that's what she had said, but the more we talked it out, we figured she actually broke it when she fell off. We do think he kicked her leg though at some point because she did have a large bruise on her calf.  I knew the first broken bone was coming but I thought it would be Holland, our klutz, who would get it! I should have known that my sweet active Alexis would be the one to "fall"!
We left the emergency room with a splint on her arm and a smile on her face!

A few days later we had it casted, of course in PINK!

After the "accident" at Opa's farm we headed up to Amber's house in Rigby where we spent the next five days! We had lots of fun playing with our friends and hanging out. Our favorite place to be during the day was at Rigby beach...

Thank you Amber and family for such a fun time!

Rounding out our summer fun, we went to Richardson family reunion!

Oh, and do I have a story for you! After the reunion I edited and posted the pictures that we had taken, on Facebook.  On my Facebook page I had it set up so that friends of friends could see and comment on my photos. On a picture of one of Brannon's cousins, she had posted that she and her hubby looked fat. When I saw that I immediately posted "OH.SHUT.UP", basically saying that she isn't (because she's not) so she shouldn't say it! Well apparently at about the same time that I had commented one of her friends also commented and her comment made it before mine did, so she thought my comment was directed to her instead.  Well that was enough reason for her to completely unload on me. She left a rather nasty comment to me that I won't bother repeating here, as well as sending me personal emails through Facebook messaging, with nasty things to say as well. Then she wrote to Brannon as well and wrote some interesting things for him. I finally figured out how block her from contacting me, but not before I reported her to the Facebook team about what she was doing. Anyway, it was a rough day to say the least and now friends of friends cannot see or comment on my photos.

So that's been our summer for the last two months! We made it. Tomorrow Alexis starts back to school and Holland starts in a couple weeks! There are going to be mornings that it will just be me and Sage at home. How crazy is that going to be? I've loved having the kids home and have enjoyed the family togetherness, but I am so ready for school to start!

Comments

I have a hard time wanting to post when nobody feels the need to leave a comment. Believe it or not I like to hear what people have to say about what's going on with our family! It makes it so much more fun to share. Is this because we went private? I'd really like to know.

Cabin Trip 2010

Over 4th of July weekend we headed down to the Richardson cabin. Here are some of the fun things we did:

We went for a walk...

collected some rocks...
went to see Bryce Canyon again, yes it's still there and it was really windy...

painted our nails, cause that's what girls do when they camp...
sang songs by the campfire...

roasted marshmallows...

and went to see the fireworks!
It was fun to get together with the family. We had a great time!

And so it begins...

I'm completely exhausted and the month has just begun. I'm so busy I totally forgot it was my nephews birthday today and I failed to call him. I'm such a crappy aunt. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOUIS! I'm sorry I'm so lame. I'll call you tomorrow!

There are so many things going on this month I'm not even sure it's all written down. In fact I know it's not because I just tore the month of June off the calendar revealing a bare July which is certainly not the case. We just got back from a cabin trip (pictures are being edited) and we are heading to Bear Lake on Friday for a week. At the end of the month we are heading up to Preston to camp out at Opa's farm.

Along with family vacations, holidays and birthdays we also have family in town for visits, preparing and speaking in church at the end of the month, and I have photo sessions I have to sneak in somewhere.

All that along with the daily responsibilities as a wife and mother, I'm already tired thinking about it all! So, I'm just going to sit back and pretend I'm back here again with nothing to do but enjoy the scenery.

Four days of Birthday Fun

Yesterday was Brannon's birthday and we celebrated in style! On Sunday night we gathered at his dad's house for some cake & ice cream. On Monday we headed to my parent's house for dinner, Death Star birthday cake & ice cream...

... and on Tuesday we went to his mom's house for yes, more cake & ice cream!
On Wednesday morning we took the kids down to Gateway to play in the fountains.

Brannon decided he wanted to join in on the fun!

The one thing he really wanted to do... go and see Toy Story 3, and so we did!

Hope you had a wonderful day babe! We sure did enjoy spending it with you!

Girly girls

It doesn't matter what I do, these are girly girls. They like having their nails painted, playing with dress-ups, dolls, playing house, flowers, dancing, skirts, shoes, jewelry and the color pink.  Drama is part of their daily routine, and they play their parts perfectly.  No matter what they love... I love them, every girly girl thing about them! They are my life, and my life is perfect!

Summertime...

Now is the time for outdoor play, swimming, sunscreen, swing-sets, popsicles, vacations, shorts & tank tops, flip-flops, bubbles, bike & scooter riding, picnics and plain old lazy days. We've been out of school for 4 days and we've already enjoyed sunny days, sunburns, slip n' slides & band aids. I'm looking for activities to do to occupy these kids all summer! I'm babysitting extra kids, which puts us home bound four days a week, so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

What do you have planned this summer?

Anniversary Weekend

This past weekend we had the opportunity to take time out of our busy schedules and celebrate our 5th Anniversary! Thursday was the actual day so we went down to The Melting Pot for dinner. It was so yummy, and I would definitely go again, although I think I would only go back and have the 1st and 4th courses (appetizer & dessert).

Then on Saturday we dropped of the kiddos at the parentals so have two days alone. We went to lunch at the Olive Garden, walked through models homes in Daybreak, and test drove a Pilot (no we didn't buy).

We walked around South Town Mall for a bit. Brannon acted as a mannequin in one of the store windows. He actually got a couple double takes from a few people.
Then we headed downtown to walk around a bit. We went to temple square to see a seven foot model of the temple. It was incredible! They built it to show what the inside of the temple looked like, so those who cannot enter can see!

We went down to Gateway and walked around and ate at Happy Sumo, yummy and went to see:
I was actually really impressed with Jake Gyllenhaal's performance. When I first saw the previews for this movie I was worried that he wouldn't be able to pull it off, but he did really well.

On Sunday we pretty much just hung out and did nothing. We watched several movies throughout the day. We watched Blind Side, National Lampoons Vacation, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Taking Pelham 123, and 1/2 of The Mummy Returns. It was very chill.

On Monday, the girls came home and we took them to the zoo. We rode the train, and the carousel and saw all the animals.
After the zoo, we went out to lunch at Red Robin. That afternoon we just hung out and played around.

We had an adventurous, restful, relaxing and very enjoyable weekend together as a couple and as a family. Thank you to all that were willing to take the kiddos so we could celebrate together!

Dear Brannon,

Today we celebrate 5 years of being married. This is the longest either of us have ever been in a relationship with another person and I couldn't have chosen a better man to make that milestone with.

I love you so much.

I love you for being the kind of man capable of marrying a woman with a child, and dealing with all that is involved. I love you for helping me find out who I am. I love you for pushing me to do the things I want to do in my life. I love you for being understanding. I love you for allowing me to be me, and for loving who that is. I love you for knowing that I need my girl time. I love you for making me a mother. I love you for giving me my beautiful girls. I love you for being a great father. I love you for your weirdness and for your acceptance of mine. I love you for being the love of my life.

I said yes because I love you. You make my life complete.

Happy Anniversary Babe.

Love,
Lisa
