Weekend Wrap Up

Hi Sweet Friends!

It has been a nice weekend here.
Grab a cuppa and join me!
I'll give you a quick run down on everything that went on.
I tried a new french tip technique.
As is my habit, most every other Friday night I do my nails. I'm pretty faithful about it.
If you ever check out my pinterest boards you'll see that I have a huge taste for nail art.
Anyway, I am usually pretty traditional, but I saw this and thought I would give it a go.
I'm not going to lie.... it is pretty simple, but you just need a little practice.
The picture above is my second try. I am pretty happy with the look and I think
I will do it again. The colors are OPI "My Vampire is Buff" and  KISS Nail Art Paint in black.
All you have to do is paint your base color and when it is dry sponge on the tip. I used one of my make up sponges. When that layer is dry apply a nice clear top coat.
Seriously... that's it.

What do you think? Like it? Or do you think it is to trendy for a 50 year old?

Saturday morning we got up and cleaned out the garage.
YUCK! AND Boring!
But of course when it was done it felt really good.

The Hubs took a Truck load to Goodwill. When he came home he brought these!
Yeah! He's pretty sweet that way!

Last week whilst out shopping.... I found this sweet little jewelry box.
It reminds of a tiny little train case that ladies used to take with them to their sleeping cars.
I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it but I knew I loved it and had to have it.
I found the just spot for it... I put all my perfumes in it on my dresser.... And draped my pearls and
rhinestones across the lid.
CUTE!  Now, I'm glad I didn't leave it behind!

HAPPY! HAPPY! HAPPY!
I finished THE afghan! I'll show you more on that later.

Of course, we went to church this morning...
I going to share with you that I am Loving our new pastor!!!
This morning's sermon was on the Passion of Community...
Why do you really need to belong to a Church anyway?!
If you are interested, later this week, you will be able to hear that sermon here.
His previous sermons are already posted, so you can here those if you like.

On the Media and Entertainment Front...
Last weekend was Super Hero, Action Adventure Movie weekend here at the house...
Captain America, The Avengers and Iron Man 1 and 2...
Then Monday we went and saw Iron Man 3 in the theater. (loved it!)

SO! I guess you know what that means....
This weekend... It was Chick Flick time!

First on Deck.... Tender Mercies

A little too long and a little dry... Loved seeing Robert Duvall as this leading character.
Singing and actually writing some of the songs.
I had never seen it before and enjoyed it.

NEXT
The Vow
LOVED IT!
What can I say? Any movie that promotes commitment and forgiveness....
I'm all for.
Tatum Channing is so saweet in this story too.
Bonus points .... It's based on true events!!
THESE PEOPLE ACTUALLY STAYED TOGETHER IN REAL LIFE!

 AND Then
 The Prince of Tides
Remind me.... Why was this a hit?
I have to say that it was a beautifully filmed movie. AND the sound track is AWESOME!
But that is where it ends for me.
The idea that somehow bearing your soul to your therapist and then having a huge affair with her while your own marriage is on the rocks will some how save your marriage...
Yeah... I'm not buying it!
I'm just not THAT cosmopolitan.
Buy the sound track... skip the movie!

This afternoon it was...
Corrina, Corrina

I LOVE This movie!!!
I have seen it so many times. And every time I see it playing I watch it again.
Whoopi Goldberg is fantastic and so like-able and Ray Liotta is the perfect grieving widower.
If you haven't seen it.... you should. It will do your heart good!
Another great sound track ... if your into that sort of thing!
And it's vintage sweet!
If you loved The Help.... Then will adore this move!!

So that is my weekend in a nut shell!
I have book reviews that I'm behind on, and Fresh-Cut Friday is this Friday!
Can you believe it! Where did the month go?!
I'll have the linky tool up Thursday as usual.
I hope that you will share a post!
I'm off to patrol the tv guide.... hhmmmm... what's on tonight?
Enjoy your Sunday evening!

Be Still and Know

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

This is a picture that I took at Arbor Crest Winery just outside of Spokane last weekend.
It was so beautiful! You could certainly see the wonder of God's creation here.

This morning's sermon was so good that I wanted to put it in writing so that I would remember it, and frankly, it is well worth sharing.

Our Pastor has been teaching a series on Passion and this mornings passion was on prayer.
 These are my notes:

3 Reasons Why We Should Talk About Prayer:

1. Many of us have put our faith in the "Gospel of Busyness"
2. We're all a mess but we lie about it.
3. Many of us are frustrated with prayer.

The "Big Idea
How we pray reflects how we trust God

Psalm 46 NLT

vs 1  1 God is our refuge and strength always ready to help in times of trouble.

We can run to GOD when things get crazy.
God WANTS to be who we run to in times of trouble.

vs 2-7    2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.
3 Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
4 A river brings jow to the city of our God, the sacred home of the MOST HIGH.
5 God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroued. From the very break of day, God will protect it.
6 The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God's voice thunders. and the earth melts!
7 The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us; The God of Israel is out fortress.

God's steadfastness removes the need for fear.

vs 8-9  8 Come, see the glorious works of the LORD: See how he brings destruction upon the world.
9 He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire.

We should stand in AWE of who God is and what he has done.

vs 10  10"Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world"

In Hebrew Be still means to be quite, but it also means to surrender, and give-in.  Know means to know or experience.
We must cease the striving of our over busy lives in order to know that HE is GOD!

Take time to be still and know
Experience God.

Shabby Chic Meets Sweet Salvage on Mother's Day

On Sunday, in the midst of entertaining tons of family, packing her apartment up to move back to Phoenix and just enjoying the satisfaction of finishing law school, Sweet Daughter took my friend Debi and I to a wonderful Mother's Day Lunch.  When I asked her where we were going she said Chaps. Well, I pictured something totally diferent and she said "No! Trust me! You and Debi will
LOVE this place!" I said " Oh! Okay....."

Oh! My! Gosh! Did she call it right!

What a SWEET delightful place! I'm telling you this is my heaven.
We even got to meet the owner, Celeste Shaw. What a sweetheart.

If you are ever in the Spokane area you must go here.
Chaps (the diner)
