"the secret to a long life"

Walter Breuning, the world's oldest man, recently died at age 114. He has left us all with some advice, the secret to a long life:

• Embrace change, even when the change slaps you in the face. ("Every change is good.")

• Eat two meals a day ("That's all you need.")

• Work as long as you can ("That money's going to come in handy.")

• Help others ("The more you do for others, the better shape you're in.")

I am realizing just how amazing life really is. We must not take it for granted; every single second, every moment, counts for something. As spring is finally taking place, the trees blooming brilliant whites, pinks and purples, temperatures rising- I find myself constantly counting my blessings as I feel overwhelmed by my beautiful life. I like Walter's advice, it makes sense... except for maybe the working part... :)

Size 12 to Size 6

My dear friend Jess brought me this dress. She found it at Plato's Closet for fourteen buckaroos, and it was a large size 12. This is what it looked like on her. HUGE!

So I grabbed my pins, and some knowledge from my fitting class... and took in 5 whole inches on the sides, and brought it up about 3/4 of an inch on top. This is what we ended up with:

A perfect fit.
Jess is going to look beautiful for graduation next week.

Also, a couple of hoodlums, who I'm sure were quite bored while us girls were chatting and sewing, decided to hack my blog last night! I can't say I don't blame them... well one of them...

New Beginnings.

So, I never thought I would be a blogger. I really like the idea though, so I'm giving it a try.. (Aubrey). Well, I don't really know what to write, but currently I am attending BYU-Idaho. This is my fourth semester and I think I am finally experiencing college for the first time. So far, so greattt. Starting over is rough, but so very refreshing. I find myself making new goals, and filling my life with new hobbies and ideas. Taking action. I don't think life has ever been so confusing and vital as it is for me now. I've learned to have a confidence in my Heavenly Father. Faith is such an important key: a key to answers, a key to peace, a key to freedom. As cliche as this sounds, I would be so very lost with out it. I have such a love for the scriptures and the words which comfort and direct. I have a great understanding for the atonement of my older brother. I've always wanted an older brother, someone to look out for me and someone to go to for advice. I've come to realize that Christ is my older brother, he looks out for me, he knows the desires of my heart. I take great comfort in this. I try to be as he is, it's the very least I could ever do to repay him. I am dependent on him, in his constant care.
