NaPoWriMo 2015 - Day 14

WORKOUT

Restraint the only exercise I get
In these four walls surrounding me
Containing and constraining me
Me and my earthly possessions
The contents of a dying living room
Very soon to be repossessed
By the ghosts of tenses past
Who pass the tension of present day
To days yet to come when future plans
That make a man’s journey through life
Nothing (but strife) to write home about
I doubt it’s even worth the effort
It takes to make sense of it all

NaPoWriMo 2015 - Day 12

FIVE MINUTES

Five whole minutes to think of a story
Not much time to soak up the glory
Maybe you will or maybe you won’t
Maybe you do or maybe you don’t
Think of a subject that people will like
Something you wanna shout down a mic
It can be a performance just writing away
Disposable stories that last just a day
Try it for once and it might catch on
Do it right now or your chance will be  gone
Read it aloud and take the reaction
Whatever they say about it is the attraction

NaPoWriMo 2015 - Day 10

SECRETS

Perhaps the reason
They don’t keep
Very well at all
Is the desire
To have at least
Something
We can share
It’s common knowledge
In real lives
That we’re far too smart
To share what’s ours
With those who aren’t
With whom
We’re not concerned
A little known fact
Is fair game
Spread amongst our peers
Status is gained
Officially
Amongst
Our Facebook friends

NaPoWriMo 2015 - Day 8

THE TRAIN NOW DEPARTING

When you feel life slipping away from you
And you’re falling towards your demise
You don’t know your destination of course
Heaven and hell flash before your eyes
A most uncomfortable ride it is
And it’s extremely painful indeed
When your whole life flashes in front of you
The effect’s like a strobe light on speed
The reason for that is quite obvious
Discomfort and pain that make you sob
In the past you would always wear your dick
On your head such a prick such a knob
The flashing and disorientation
Are caused by the testicles flapping
Swinging against and away from your eyes
And that penis thrashing and slapping
And the pain you can feel so intensely
Beating your shoulders your chest your back
Is turbulence caused by your wasted life
Like the train now departing the track

NaPoWriMo 2015 - Day 6

CHANCE OF RAIN

Just another washing day
Here the weather stays fine
Sheets and shirts and baby clothes
Hanging out on the line
Sun is shining in the breeze
It shouldn’t take too long
Chance of rain this afternoon
Hope they got that wrong
Saying that I wouldn’t mind
Some time off for a change
A woman’s work is never done
Always things to arrange

NaPoWriMo 2015 - Day 4

BEACH BUMMER

The train too fast
The bus too slow
I didn’t really
Want to go
The light to right
The time too wrong
Don’t take photo’s
Must run along
The waves too low
The tide too high
Be hours before
The sand is dry
The pier too short
The beach too long
We’d walk them both
But we’re not strong
The sea too cold
The sun too hot
My ice cream’s melting
Quite a lot
The dunes too dry
The surf too wet
There must be somewhere
Just right yet
The rocks too hard
The sand too soft
Stuck in this deck chair
Can’t get off
The kids too young
The wife too old
Can’t get it through
They won’t be told
The boobs too big
The cozzy too small
Now I know what
The butler saw
The will too weak
The draw too strong
The one armed bandit
Sings my song
The chips too fat
The fish too thin
It’s nearly time
To get them in
The beer too good
The food too bad
Let’s just get pissed
Or I’ll go mad
The blokes too smooth
The birds too rough
We’ll go home soon
I’ve had enough
The price to rich
The wage too poor
We won’t be coming
Back no more

NaPoWriMo 2015 - Day 2

NEXT

Older now
Older than before now
Much older than
Then
When
I was young
Was I young?
Younger?
Ever?
Not the way things look
Are looking
In the mirror
Or to others
Other people
In the street
The sight of grey hair
Wrinkles
Shocks and offends
Me
Causes them to
Laugh
Whisper
Point
Nudge
Each other
But what do they know
Do they even know they’re born?
Torn
Between the two
Life and death
I
Stare at my meds
My medication
In my
Wait for it…
Medicine cabinet
Never had one of them
Before
Or
The routine
Of taking drugs
Not for pleasure
But for pain
Again
There’s an element
Of dependence
Rather than the
Reliability
Of an old friend
Whose end
Came suddenly
But quietly
In his sleep
The way I’d like
To go
At least
I think so
I think so
Much
Too
Much
Maybe
See
You got me
Started
On the departed
I miss ‘em all
My family
Mum and dad
Especially
Ain’t it sad?
Potentially
It could be me
Next
