This is too funny

Tagged Again

Okay I got tagged....again... thanks amanda!

This Tag is about my MAN!
What is his name? David Ryan Skinner
How long have you been married? 2 1/2 years
How long did you date? A little over a year
How old is he? 27 next month... holy crap!
Who eats more? Ryan- we used to be tied before I had a baby. Now I think that my appetite is smaller than it has ever been which works out great for me!
Who said I love you first? Him. I had never said it to anyone before and only wanted to say it to my future husband so he had to wait to hear it from me until I KNEW!! I said it a couple of days before we got engaged.
Who is taller? Ryan, I am a little vertically challenged but most people don't know that bc I always where tall shoes.
Who sings better? Me,but he sure tries.
Who is smarter? Him- but I will never let him know that which probabaly makes me smarter! He is smarter with business, booksmart,... i am better informed about celebrity gossip, fashion, news, and strategizing when it comes to games.
Whose temper is worse? Me and it gets worse when he tells me to "calm down". I am trying to follow his example bc he never really gets annoyed or loses his temper. That is a great quality.
Who does the laundry? Mostly me but he will if he needs something washed right then.
Who does the dishes? Me
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If I am looking at the bed, His side is the right side.
Who pays the bills? Me, I like to get them out right away!
Who mows the lawn? illegals I think, JK
Who cooks dinner? I put it in the oven or microwave. I just found out last night that he loves to cook but just doesn't have the time.
Who drives when you are together? both- he is on the driver's side and I am the "backseat driver". it is all constructive criticism.
Who is more stubborn? me
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? him, i sound horrible but he is just that great!
Whose parents do you see the most? My family. I have a sister that lives in Gilbert with her family so my family comes out more and they live half the distance away than his family.
Who proposed? Ryan. Most of you don't know this but Ryan is amazing at the guitar. He secretly learned my favorite country song (memories of us-keith urban) and after having dinner he played the song and proposed in a secluded area at Sundance, UT. there were choc dipped strawberries and sparkling cider. It was so awesome and unexpected.
Who has more friends? About the same.
Who has more siblings? Same amount. I am the baby of 5 and he is 4 of 5 but oldest son.
Who wears the pants in the family? We joke that it is ME bc i seem to always get my way and have a stronger opinion about almost everything but I ultimately know that he is the leader of our home.

I tag: Trish, Brynda, Abby, Katie T, Lynds, Kristen!

Some of Our Favorite Family Pictures...

Some more pictures....

Our Eventful Thanksgiving Break...

We were able to enjoy the first half of our break because we went to Utah and just hung out by our pool when we got back. We went out to Gilbert, AZ. on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to stay at my sister's house bc all of my family was in town to celebrate the holiday at her house. My niece, Jaisa, started throwing up on Wed (late morning) and then dane started throwing up around 2 or 2:30pm on wed. Jaisa stopped throwing up a couple of hours later and Dane was just getting worse and worse.

Later that evening I called the pediatrician's office and they told me to take him to urgent care. I got to urgent care where we waited and waited while Dane continued to throw up in the wating room. After seeing the Dr. he told us to head over to the E.R. We went to the E.R. at the nearest hospital and waited and waited and then finally were called back. Dane was limp as a rag doll and did not even flinch at them checking his ears, pushing on his tummy, or shoving the thermometer up his you know what. Dane was then taken to another room where the nurse shoved a catheder up him which did get quite a reaction out of him and then an IV was inserted. It was so hard for me to watch my little boy get poked and prodded like that..... Long story short... they thought the reason for his throwing up was a UTI so they admitted him, we were moved to another floor where Ryan and I shared a cot overnight only to be woken up every other hour by a nurse (who spoke broken English), my mom and dad came to visit and I went home with them to shower and take a nap while Ryan stayed and enjoyed eating Thanksgiving dinner at the hospital.

Dane was released (Thurs)Thanksgiving day at about 4pm. After being released from the hospital he still threw up a couple of times on fri and once on saturday, saw the Dr. once, called the triage nurses 3 times, at maybe a total of 9 oz the whole da (before throwing up), was told that his results now showed that he did not have uti and that it was just a really bad case of the flu. Sunday he did not throw up at all but then I started throwing up at 7am sharp just as he woke up ready to go for the day. Everyone is now back to being healthy and I pray that it will stay that way.

I am so grateful that we have our health and have realized that I take it for granted too often. I am grateful that Dane just had the flu and not a uti bc the Dr. informed me that would have meant surgery most likely. I am grateful for family, father's blessings, medecine, a roof over our head, an amazing husband who woke up early to take care of the baby while I was throwing up- went to school- came home for lunch to take care of the baby- went back to class- came home for dinner to take care of the baby- and went back to school to study some more- just so I could relax and take it easy....and I am grateful for all of the other blessings I recieve daily in my life.

Sorry for the cheese but I guess it takes a holiday season/hospital trip to realize how blessed I am.

Dane's 2nd Haircut

A big thanks to Sarah Frei for cutting Dane's hair. My kids hair grows so fast. He has had 2 haircuts before he was 7 months old. I just thought the picture of him with the little cape on was too cute to not post.

Cards, Bets, and Big Losses... For Ryan.

We have the next week off of school and have been enjoying our break so far. For the last 3 nights we have gotten together with our friends Sarah and Rhett and have played games. It has been so much fun to have our husbands home and stressfree!!! Tonight we decided to teach them a card game called "Idiot". After a couple of warm up games we came up with something that the loser..aka..Idiot.. had to do. We decided that the loser would have to stuff a bag full of huge rolls in their mouth and chew it up. Well, here is the Idiot!

Ladies- back off. this attractive man is all mine!! I don't know how he got his face in such a position in the last photo but I sure hope it doesn't get stuck like that..

Sorry Ryan, better luck next time!

Outcome of Our Second Game...Ryan's Luck Got Worse..

The second game that we played, we decided to raise the stakes. As a result, Ryan lost and had to do a fully-clothed cannon-ball in the pool while yelling "cowabunga!!" It was priceless because there were some gangster looking teenagers in the pool area.

Ryan looks pretty sad as he takes the walk of shame home. Hopefully my card playing skills will rub off on him sometime soon.

I've Been Tagged....

So I've been tagged and now get to share 7 things that describe who I am. I was tagged by Abbie, you can see her 7 things at http://joshvandy.blogspot.com/. Here we go .....

1 - I love my family!! I have always been a home-body because let's face it, my family rocks!! When we are together we are constantly laughing whether at eachother or someone else. We are sarcastic and make fun of eachother constantly but know that we have eachother's back no matter what. I have fallin in love with my new little family and love every minute that I get to spend with Ryan and our little boy. I crave the little breaks in between semesters so that I get to be with my man and Dane gets to be with his daddy. Ryan and I have a great friendship and honestly hardly ever fight. Ryan never leaves me without resovling the problem which is a quality I respect so much. He will sacrifice going to study, going to sleep, or believe it or not... a football game until he knows that I have said all that I want to say and we are both happy again. I am gradually learning more patience the more I am around him. He rarely gets upset, annoyed, and is usually the first to apologize when we dissagree. Now that is a true man. And... he has a pair of the nicest legs I've seen on a guy and pretty darn good lookin face too.

2 - I love my reality shows. I know, I am lame but I am addicted to almost all reality shows. The Hills, Laguna Beach, The Bachelor, Kardashians, ... you name it, I am hooked. It probably sounds like I am a lazy couch potato but because I have tevo, I can watch my shows in half the time! Got to go, my show is starting...

3 - I love food! I get so giddy thinking about food. I wish that I was loaded so that I could go on date night every night and eat out at different restaurants. I love most types of food but my favorite is Mexican. I have always enjoyed it but I craved it while I was pregnant and I still crave it. I don't think I have ever not felt like mexican food. Although I love food (restaurant and home-cooked meals) I am not a really a fan of desserts. I like candy and some sweets but I am not into cakes, pies, pastries, cobblers,... I get grossed out by cooked fruit especially! I could live off of cold, fresh fruit but in my opinion fruit should NEVER be cooked.

4 - I am extremely competitive. I enjoy playing games whether it is a sport or board game. The bad thing is.. Ryan is really competitive too. If we are not on the same team, Ryan usually is mad (because my team always wins of course...)Ryan would also probably say that I am not a good loser... or winner, BUT I AM!! j/k.

5 - The summer before my senior year of high school I was talking to a bunch of people at work. For some reason we were talking about stitches and sprains and I started bragging about how I had never had stitches, sprains, a broken bone, a black eye, or even been stung by a bee. Well that weekend I went to the lake with a bunch of people and thought I would go ahead and be the 3rd person on a two man tube. We fell hard and my friend's knee hit me in the eye. Before I reached the surface of the water, my eye filled my hand that I had cupped over it. I thought for sure I was going to be blind. I was so embarrassed and did not want to take my hand off of my eye because I could just feel how ugly it was. She was whining about how much her knee hurt and showed everyone the bruise that had already formed. Finally I took my hand off my eye and by everyone's reaction I knew it was pretty bad. I decided to just go and relax on the house boat for the rest of the day. I was laying out for maybe 5 minutes before I got stung by a bee on the bottom of my foot. I started my senior year with a huge black eye and since then have decided not to brag about bad stuff never happening to me. If I do happen to mention it, I always make sure to knock on wood as if that even makes a difference.

6 - I am willing to try ALMOST anything once. My family lived in Australia for a couple of years and while we were there we ate water buffalo, crocodile and kangaroo. I have never turned down a rollercoaster ride. On a family vacation, me and my sister thought that we would enter ourselves into a bull riding event at a rodeo just so we could tell people we've done it. I was never so scared in my life waiting for them to announce my name and open the gate. This bull was HUGE, had sharp horns, and was not about to let me ride it. (ok, well maybe it was just a really big, mean steer but it still could've killed me easily) There were like 7 cowboys around me trying to keep me from chickening out. They showed me how to hold onto the rope with both hands but I wanted to be a real cowgirl and do it one-handed with the other hand waving gracefully in the air. I lasted maybe a second, just long enough to wave to the video camera...

7 - I am part Indian. My Great Grandma was found on a doorstep and was Indian but we don't know what tribe she was from. I was named after that great grandma. Another interesting thing about that side of the family is that her son (my Grandpa Weston)was a convert to the LDS church and has recorded his conversion story which has become a strong missionary tool. His story is called "The 17 Point/Evidences of the True Church".

Ok, so here are the lucky people who are now tagged and get to tell everyone a little more about them!
