No, I'm not a physicist. (Or to paraphrase Dr. McCoy, "I'm a kindergarten teacher, not a physicist!" I'm not a Trekkie either, by the way, so don't get any ideas.) Luminiferous Ether -- it has a nice ring to it, don't you think? You can read what a real scientist has to say about it here, or use the description I prefer, found in Bob Harris' wonderful book Prisoner of Trebekistan: pervasive invisible space goo that doesn't exist. I especially like the "luminiferous" part, because I am a Quaker, the Light is one term used to refer to Divine Spirit and early Quakers were sometimes called "Children of the Light."
Welcome to the first post of my blog, or as I like to think of it, my extended, never-ending holiday letter, the director's cut. Bwahahahaha. Here be dragons. Here be also musings, rantings, ramblings, gleanings, wheat, chaff, and everything that can be fit into a soapbox.
