Brick or Treat

Legoland has Trick or Treating (or if Sam is around you better be calling it Brick or Treating) on every Saturday in October. So the kids put some costumes on and we headed down to Carlsbad to participate in the madness.

Kate as Hannah Montana, (I know I can't stand her either, but Kate has discovered her on Netflix and loves the idea of a normal girl being a pop star. Oh well, I'll take the old Miley vs the new one any day.) and Sam as a repeat Hamburger. We are working on finding him a cool costume for this year.

Who is this little hot dog? Millie borrowed Kate's hot dog suit for a night of Trick or Treating.

Craziness with the cousins. Why do we continuously take them places together?

More Halloween adventures to come I'm sure.

Tide Pools

The other day I thought it would be nice on Kate's early release day to take a break from the homework/Monstober on Disney Channel grind that occurs after school and do something outdoors. Since living here again, we have tried the tide pools on two other occasions and have not had very much luck. (The tide being too high, kids freaking out, etc.) But this time a planned outing actually went as what was envisioned, except that Kate protested the tide pools the whole way there and Sam wouldn't go near the water, he just sat on this rock (see below). Things never totally go smooth with this family.

Grateful that this man who works at the Ocean Institute was down at the pools. He showed us a bunch of sea stuff that we didn't even know we were looking for.

Like some starfishes that were hiding.

And some anemones. There was other cool things like hermit crabs and limpets that he pointed out but I didn't get any good pictures.

On the look out.

Three Stephens kids. Crazy.

The two elder Stephens kids are into doing statue poses right now. This is the act like you love each other pose.

This is the sad child pose. Or stranded on an island pose.

We came across an Elephant. These elephants are scattered around Dana Point right now. We saw them all together before they scattered them around, once I figure how to unload pics from my phone onto here, I'll do that post. It was pretty funny.

It ended up to be a fun little excursion and Kate admitted to having fun when we were driving home. So that's nice.

The guide said that this is the time when the tide is really low. He said on Halloween around 3pm, the tide will be at it's lowest point. I'd be game to check it out again.
So if you go let me know. Actually, that last sentence is very misleading since blogs are like ghost towns nowadays. So I mean that one person that lives in my state that checks my blog once a month, let's go. :)
