Tadada done

Some days I just have to finish something, its been basted for months and half quilted for weeks, doesn't that sound like a half baked turkey.   I just quilted my favorite free motion concentric teardrop meanding feather design with a multicolored thread. The pattern is from Miss Rosie's Farmhouse Favorites called Scarlet Begonia, very easy pattern with a churn dash and shoo fly block set on point.  She used the red corner fabric for the borders which reinforced the Scarlet Begonia name, I used the fabrics that I had in the stash.  Fly in the Buttermilk seems more fitting for mine. --Ann--

Weekend

A weekend away from home!!!! We went up to the camper a 4 1/2 hour drive across South Dakota, the lilacs were blooming.  It must have been mandatory at one time to plant at least a short row of lilacs on every homestead if not a long row on the outside edge of a shelter belt.  It was a chilly windy weekend but hubby and son caught fish, mostly son, he learned well from his father.  The fish were delicious, walleye from the Missouri River.  I read 2 books and lots of knitting.  Dolman sleeve sweater in a linen yarn and socks from leftovers.  --Ann--

Memorial Day Peonies

 Peonies always make me think of my mother, she planted Memorial Day peonies all around her house, my oldest son lives in the house now and doesn't fuss with the flowers the way she did.  They are blooming this year for Memorial Day.  These pictures  are of my peonies from a couple moves ago the bottom picture is a fern leaf peony which I got from my mother years ago.  She always said if you plant something in my memory plant it were you can see it.   --Ann--

A hare and a harvest

The hare is finished and it wasn’t that difficult just follow the pattern line by line, a kf&b here and a k2 tog there.  You can find the pattern on ravelry.  I may make another rabbit.

Son texted and said he had more asparagus than he could eat.  I was on my way in short order and as tall as some of the stalks were they were tender for most of the length of the stalk.   --Ann--

Quilt top together!  I kept everything in order as I sewed, every triangle and every square is where it belongs.  I'm rather enjoying these long stretches of creative time and working from my stash of fabrics.  Happy stitching  --Ann--

Subtitles and knitting

 


I shouldn’t watch a British mystery with subtitles and try to follow complicated knitting instructions.....darling daughter introduced me to Broadchurch on net... over Mother’s Day weekend, the mystery deepens.....another twist to the plot. Concentrate. And oooops I've got the ear on the side of the head and a big gap in the middle..... In defense of the pattern designer the instructions are very clear and well written. I am instructionally challenged and might have inserted the illustration on page 4 instead of page 6 but then she probably wasn’t watching a mystery with subtitles as she wrote them.  It was an easy fix with my morning fix. I did have to reheat my coffee.  On to the next step.  --Ann--

Puzzle parts

If I would knock all these pieces on the floor and try to put it back together it would rival any puzzle I have seen on the internet. All these pieces are the same size, some are interchangeable but most only fit in one spot then to make things more confusing a couple stars have 2 different prints. —Ann—

Off the kneedles

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day.   I did, darling daughter came home, I hadn't seen her since Christmas. She cooked dinner yesterday.  A pork roast, parmesan potatoes, steamed broccoli, strawberry spinach salad and a chocolate Dutch baby with salted caramel gelatto.  Just a little direction from me in the kitchen she has become a very capable cook. I got to sit and sip my coffee and knit a little before dinner in my just finished sweater. And it was cool enough to wear it.
I'm ready for warm spring days not these cool/cold spring days. I also finished socks for son with the June birthday.  Ready for something new on the needles.  --Ann--

More indigo

I finished cutting these prints, the Schweschwe, indigo from South Africa are the lighter colored prints. Thanks to Ramona at Doodlebugs and Rosebuds for schooling me on the Schweschwe fabrics. To square up the quilt to a nice baby or small wall quilt I added what was left of the Asian indigos and a full round of a Dutch wax print.  I wish my design wall had a grid so stars could be more orderly.   Next to cut the white but first do some math to be sure I have enough.  --Ann--

Just thinking

Just thinking about which white to use for the background.  Off white, white white, not quite white. The hexagon print is going to be used for the border, it’s a Dutch wax print and the white in it is very white.  Use the white white. I just cannot cut that print apart and piece it back together I can cut it crosswise and have a trapezoid border.

I cut my South African indigo prints today, there is no turning back.  Ann

Indigo

All that is going on in the world and blogger has to change how to do things argh. 

My phone hasn’t updated so I can access photos on the phone if I take some more pics.

Blocks are together with a narrow border I do not have a good backing fabric so will have to wait until I can shop again. Add it to the stack......—Ann—
