Bo Bunny halloween mailbox

I was up on the BoBunny blog with a new project.
Halloween is such a fun holiday, and the Fright Night collection captures that element perfectly.
I was eager to use it to create something fun to represent the holiday theme, but what to create? I have had the mailbox idea for a while, and by fussy cutting some of the elements from the patterned paper, I knew they would be just right for this mini project.

First of all, I wanted to create a base for my mailbox to sit on, so I layered up some corrugated cardboard and covered it with the Double Dot Chocolate Stripe paper which has a sort of a wood grain effect. I carefully cut the "Boo" banner from the spooky paper and attached it to 2 wooden skewers to hang across the back of the base.

The actual mailbox is cut from Double Dot Shadow Vintage, which is a great quality textured cardstock, both strong and pliable, perfect for mini projects such as these.
Underneath the mailbox is a graveyard, complete with pumpkins gravestones and ghosts. I used a leaf punch to create the grass, and I fussy cut the skeleton and layered it behind the EEK cardstock sticker, which folds down when the box is open.

I used one of the brads from the collection attached some spiders with cotton thread for you to pull open the lid and reveal the haunted village inside.

There are so many great elements to this collection, the possibilities are endless, and I had to stop myself from adding more and more!

Hope you enjoyed looking at my Halloween Mailbox. It was ultra fun to create and of course made easy by using Bo Bunny products.

Scrap Africa

Whilst I was away I was looking for a challenge to play along with
Scrap Africa had this great sketch (of course I changed it up a bit!)
I wanted to make a layout using just the scraps I had accumulated on this holiday and so this layout was born.

This was the sketch (I turned it on its side)

Of course I finished it late at night and now it's back to the type of weather that makes photographing my work nigh on impossible, reminds that I must try and work something out for this winter (any tips would be very helpful)

CSI 92 - Solved

After a short haitus from solving case files I am back, and what a pretty palette we have this week. October is Great Books Month, so that is the theme that will tie all of our Case Files together this month.
without further ado here  is the case to be solved this week
And here is my take
Evidence
Pearls
Book Pages
Hearts
Handmade Flowers
Lace
Distressing
Stack Elements

Testimony
My journaling was inspired by the lyrics of a Beatles song To know her is to love her!
To know, know, know her
Is to love, love, love her
Just to see her smile
Makes my life worthwhile
Yes, just to know, know, know her
Is to love, love, love her
ANd I do and I do
And I do

Some close ups
I used some cotton lace to create these flowers (yes I forgot to put a center in this one lol) and I have had these wood veneer feathers for ages waiting for the right layout to use one.
I cut the adore frame from an old 2009 BoBunny paper Love Notes collection
More wood veneer, the heart is by Freckled Fawn, another lace flower and the rose was in a Papermaze kit. I put my journaling on a tag and tucked it into the chevron glassine bag that I have no clue where it came from lol.
For my background paint splatters I used some pearly watercolours and blew them with an empty pen casing (couldn't find a straw lol)
I scattered a few sequins around for a little shine.

So are you ready for this week's challenge? Grab your forensics kits, and get ready for some serious sleuthing as we open Case File No. 92.

A little bit of Christmas with BoBunny

Never to early for Christmas right?
Whilst making my travel layout which you can see on the BoBunny blog here
I thought I had best get a start on some Christmas cards
Elf Magic has some adorable images that are just perfect for fussy cutting

Using the Elf Magic chevron paper I cut the tag out and then cut the Santa and sign out, this left a "hole" in the tag which I covered with a piece of the Elf Magic tinsel paper. I used foam pads to give a little dimension to the Santa. I cut the tree from the same chevron sheet and tucked it behind. I then backed the whole thing onto some Double Dot dark denim flourish added the snowflakes and gem then finished it off with some twine tied at the top.

For my second card I used a cut file on my cameo of a coffee mug, I used Double Dot wild berry stripe, the paper has a beautiful sheen to it so using as a main element on my card gives it a shine all of its own. I curved the paper and put foam dots just in the centre to give a convex shape on the card.

I turned the chevron paper over to use the chevron side for my background and layered it with Elf Magic mischief.

I stamped the sentiment using the Holiday Wishes stamp set, The frosting jewels made some great "steam" coming from the cup

then topped it off with more snowflakes and a large gem.I added a little glitter to the snowflakes for that extra sparkle
I really enjoyed making these cards, so now it's 2 down about 25 to go lol

Sketchbook 365 - October sketch

The new sketch from Sketchbook 365 is up

This month they are sponsored by

There's a fab prize up for grabs
This is the layout I created using the new Zip Dee Doodle collection by BoBunny
My interpretation, I took the circles and made one of them large with all the other elements piled onto it, I used speech bubbles in place of the three strips at the top left of the sketch and I moved my journaling to the right so that it was underneath my title
The polaroid frame/heart/tag is one of the dimensional stickers from the collection as is the speech bubble with the hearts on.
The large sunburst circle is a cut file on my cameo and I took the middle section and flipped it over to contrast with the black and white. I am a little in love with the Today title word (also a cameo file) you know sometimes you just find that you want to use it on every project lol
I decided for once to just put my journaling "out there" 2013 is turning out to be a fantastic year for me and I am finally getting a grip on the Agoraphobia that has held me back for so long, so instead of hiding away from it this layout is a reminder to myself that I am healing and ready to start living a "normal" (to me that is) life again.
Don't forget to play along this month and be in with a chance of winning this
Fab prize from Bo Bunny

touching base and more from the Papermaze August kit

Wooahh didn't realise I had been away from here for so long, life has been hectic with lots of exciting and fun moments. 2 days ago I was on the beautiful Greek Island of Zante (this photo was taken in Zante town)
and in just 8 days time I will be back in Wales for a 2 week vacation with my DH and the crazy doodle doggies, in between all that I have to clear my craftroom ready for some renovation work that will take place whilst I am away, so at the moment I'm not sure which way is up lol
I have lots to share over the coming days and also some exciting news!
First up I want to share with you the 2nd layout I created using the Papermaze August kit.

This month the kit is packed with all sorts of great embellishments, I created a feminine page here and now I'm here to share with you the more masculine page I made
I loved the Polaroid frames, and on this layout I used them both as accents and to frame one of the smaller details on my picture, once again the tiny word stickers act both as a title and journaling to sum up my feelings about the photo.
I fussy cut some of the hexagons to create layers behind my photo and by using the blues/greens I think it gives the whole page a more "boy" feel to it.
You can find this kit here and of course any other supplies you need can be found in the shop
So it's toodle pip for now
Back soon x
