Small Treasures

Sometimes it is the small treasures that get me most excited. I had purchased a piece of chippy tin. It is beautiful and decorative on its own. However, I thought it would be sweet adorned with some satin ribbon. Using a Crop-A-Dile {love my CAD}, I punched two holes near the top to run the ribbon through. What do you think?

Here is a close up of the tile ~ I love its chippy patina.

I love to sew. I think this is why I seem to be drawn to sewing boxes and collectibles whenever I am on the hunt. What tools where the favorite of the women who sewed before me?

In one such sewing box, I found the sweetest alligator clip covered with felt mittens. I don't know what this was used for. But, the care taken to stitch something you might use everyday inspires me to treasure the small things and those things which bring me joy.

I love the graphics on this needle case. It seems everyday items were presented very artfully back then. Maybe it was because sewing was more important. Maybe it was because women were drawn to such pretty graphics! Some of us are still drawn to them today.

Here is a guide book for a Singer sewing machine. I like the colors and graphics. Hmm, could be a great foundation for a sewing ephemera project?

A peek at the inside . . . oooh!

Mixed with all of the items from the sewing case was this exceptionally beautiful needle case. The colors are such an inspiration for the next card or sewing project.

Check out the interior . . . WOW! It is in great condition.
I hope you have a joyful day and find some small treasures along the way.
(Ok, I am usually not this corny but the message is heartfelt just the same!)

Happy New Year!

Wow, this year has flown by! As I reflect on this past year, I realize it has had it share of laughs, tears, and "best ever" moments. Thank you my dear family and friends for being such a blessing to me! I love you!

I look forward to a new year of challenges, fun times and wonderful people that make this trip around the sun a great one. ;-)

A few a my new year's resolutions:
make lifestyle changes for better health {drink more water, exercise more, you know what i mean}
visit my journal more often {dust the cover at least!}
make that brown thumb a little greener {did I mention plants fear me - yikes!}
make more time to nourish my creative soul {my blog ladies inspire me so very much!}
use some of the cherished paper goods {yes, actually . . . dare I say it . . . cut the paper}
organize my craft room {really}
organize my time better {have not figured out how to clone myself yet, LOL}
do something outside of my comfort zone

While this does not complete the list, it does get me excited about the upcoming year. Blessings to you and all that the new year will bring!

Scottish Shortbread

I have enjoyed these recent chilly Georgia days by doing some baking. If you are looking for a good cookie with a cup of tea {or coffee with Coffeemate Parisian Almond Creme creamer ;) }, this cookie is subtle and buttery.

Scottish Shortbread

1 lb. butter
1 1/2 C sugah
5 C plain flour

You will need a heavy duty mixer for this. Cream butter and sugar. Add and mix flour one cup at a time. Bake for 325 for about 20 min. Enjoy Sugah!

Cold Hands, Warm Heart

Earlier this year, my daughter commented on the fact I only had one pair of gloves. I felt indifferent about it until I spied these yummy pink suede gloves with fur lining {swoon}. Yes, these were coming home with me, yes indeedy!

I love pink any time of the year. Check out this fabulous graphic from the Graphics Fairy! I love the pinks, creams and tans. Wouldn't this be awesome popped on a gift bag with a little glitter and ribbon?

Have a warm holiday season Sugah!

Blog Party Kick Off!

I am so excited to be participating in my first ever blog party! From afar, I always savor the projects and pics of my favorite blogs. How fun it would be to participate in a blog party with these women. Well, I decided what the heck am I waiting for and jumped in!
Heather at Bella Dreams is hosting a Decorating and Craft party. Please stop by and check out all of the wonderful ideas these talented women have to offer. They are inspiring and incredibly creative!

I love Christmas! Every year I get the itch right after Halloween. This year has been so busy. I have decide to simplify my holiday decorating to give my favorite things their spotlight.
Check out the tassel hanging from my lamp - it is really an ornament!
Every year I get a new angel or a new Santa. This year, I found the Santa I wanted at Ms. Wendy's Antiques. Isn't he handsome?!

Our stockings hung by the fire with care. How many kids you ask? Really, we have two kids, three dogs and a cat who thinks he is a dog. They get treats from Santa too.
I love the white ironstone pitcher on the right. Every season, I decorate it with something to celebrate the moment. A simple floral spray with its stem bent backward is hung on the pitcher for a little holiday glamour!

Have you seen the beautiul vignettes using cloches? This cloche, with its architectural salvage pediment and vintage doily, is home to my frosty Santa toting his shabby Christmas tree.

I {heart} paper mache Christmas houses. I do not have many. It is always fun to be on the hunt!

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a warm holiday season. Stay tuned for more decorating and craft fun!
