Holly Birds!

Holly and Birds!  Day 11 is here.  I can't believe we are a short 2 weeks before Christmas!  There is so much to do and I haven't even finished putting up all our holiday decor yet.

I can't get enough of these sweet birds from Stampendous.  I stamped them on a manila tag and colored them with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell watercolor pencils. I used the Darkroom Door stamp to add a touch of splatter around the edges.  Then I used the Signo Uni-Ball White gel pen with a layer of snow on the branches.

Happy Thursday!

Silvery Tag

Another tag?  I just realized I haven't posted a card in forever.  I will have to focus on putting my ideas on a card next.

Linda's Tag #11 this week is all silvery and uses metal.  I took a little detour and tried my own way of creating a  similar effect. (sponsored by her Funkie Junkie Boutique)  I loved how elegant and industrial the foil looked on Linda's tag.  I am also entering this into the Artistic Outpost Monthly challenge.

I started with white cardstock which I applied a layer of white gesso and while it was wet I attached a series of cardboard snowflakes and used gesso to paint them onto the tag.  I let that thoroughly dry out. .  (Just occurred to me I have black gesso and could have used that as a base. DUH!)  I then applied a layer of black spray.  That soaked in too much so I added a layer of black paint.  After the paint I  waited for it to dry and then sponged silver paint onto the snowflakes and used my fingers to smear it around the snowflakes.

After that I wanted to just leave the snowflakes by themselves but decided to add a mini tag with the Vintage Santa from Artistic outpost Snowy Woods.

Have a wonderful wednesday!

Caroling

Here is my Day 10 tag.  I used the gentlemen caroler and added a few birds.

Seems like a quick and easy tag but at the time it didn't seem like it was. :)  The background is Memory Box and the sentiment is from Memory Box as well. The image is Stampers Anonymous.  The birds are from that bird cube that I love. (B-Line Designs)

The green ink is Ranger Distress Ink - Olive and the blue is Ranger Archival Ink - Hydrangea.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Christmas Collage

This was such a simple tag to create! This is the old Hero Arts collage stamp and all I had to do was stamp and color.

I did layer the image in the middle, add a few birds and stamp the number 9 in the circle but the stamp is so pretty I just let it shine!

Happy day 9!

Christmas Travels

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is back this week with a transportation inspired challenge.
Anything travel related can be your inspiration.  I decided to pull out my little used Valise die and create a Christmas mini book.

I created a crocodile texture on my valise with the layering stencil and the gold crackle paste and a mix of sprays to add to the color on the texture.

I die cut a series of snowflakes and sprayed them with a brown spray ink.

For the inside a series of tags:
Of varying sizes and directions:
To insert the tags a simple accordion center to the book:

I lined the inside with soft rose pattern paper.   I cut a series of tags with various images / backgrounds in coordinating colors.
This is one of the pages with a stenciled with paste word on the front.

The tags have different embellishments, colors and images:
I made sure both sides of the tags had stamping /embossing / embellishments:
I added gold edges on the tags using a krylon pen.

And added a few more snowflakes on the tags as well.

Here is the outside before the snowflakes and before the accordion is taped together.

Today I am guest designing over at A Vintage Journey. I was thrilled to be asked to join in on this weeks challenge "Birds of a Feather".  The design team is extremely talented and there is always something inspiring and beautiful up on the blog.  A challenge about birds what a perfect fit for me!

My 25 Birds of Christmas tags was inspired the challenge.  Day 8 which is posting a little early here is a variation of the birdcage.

Snowy Scene

A very blessed Sunday to you!  I am a little late in my Day 7 tag.  I had one already created and ready to go but didn't like how it photographed and I had a flaw on the tag.  I decided to replace Day 7 with my take on Tim's December tag  I mixed in he acetate for the Curtain Call - Clearly Christmas Challenge.

My tag is made of acetate and embossed with snowflakes on the top half using an embossing folder.

I covered it in a mix of Dylusions white spray and Ranger Distress spray - Faded Jeans.  I die cut my deer and  branches from mirrored sheets.  I used the stencil and white embossing paste to apply the word Christmas and the stars.

I needed my bird so I painted one white and added him to the sky.

The inspiration photo:
