The dance drama Wind Rises from Dachen Island was staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing from Sept 7 to 8. It was jointly created by Zhejiang Performing Arts Group, departments of Jiaojiang district in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, and Zhejiang Dachen Island Development and Construction Group.

The drama focuses on the first group of volunteers who landed on Dachen Island in 1956 and the developers of the 1980s, narrating the ideals and struggles of the two generations as they developed the island.

The drama, tailored to the aesthetic preferences of new generations and being creative in its presentation to pay tribute to the pioneering spirit, is a standout example of Zhejiang's dance dramas in recent years.

The drama is currently on a nationwide tour, receiving high praise as it travels to cities such as Hangzhou, Shanghai, Nanchang, and Xiamen.
