We had a lovely day. My mom spent Christmas morning with us and then Mike's dad flew in that afternoon. You know little guy is getting spoiled with love with 2 grandparents around!
We wish all of you a Merry Christmas!

Bath time!
Don't worry - this wasn't Aiden's first bath (seeing as he is 10 weeks old!). It is just the first one where pictures were taken. He absolutely loves his bath time...just like his mommy!
These were taken yesterday - on his "actual due date", December 22nd....and yes, his eyes are turning from my eye color (brown) to dad's (blue). So cute!

Aiden's bedtime story...
2 months old and 7 lbs!!!!
Here's our little guy at 7 lbs. and 2 months old today!
I know these blog entries are updated every day...guess I'm still trying to juggle being a mommy at home and it all depends on if Aiden is crying a lot or is resting...and if I am resting or have energy.
Anyway, much to update on since the last entry. Aiden's two blood transfusions were a success and his level went back up to 46, which was better than they expected (the perfect range is 45-50). He is home. Yes, I am still fighting with post-partum but each day is getting better.
A big blessing, and surprise, was when my sister-in-law Meg decided to fly out to be with us for 6 days. She is hilarious and brought a lot of humor and laughter to the home. Plus, she is a mom of 2 young boys and was great with advice! One time I was changing Aiden, while she was with me, and let's just say he "wasn't finished with his messy business" and 4 diapers later, I am rolling around on the ground laughing hysterically while Meg held onto Aiden. She even surprised me with Ann Taylor Loft PJ's to loung around the house in so I'd feel pretty. What a blessing she was!!
He just looked too cute chilling in his boppy...
A friend of ours, Ben Long (yes he's a cop, so don't panic if you see his gear) giving Aiden some man tips.
One of the cutest things Aiden does is just raise his hand when he's in the pack-n-play. All you see is this little hand and tiny fingers. Too precious.
Well, off to go check on baby...

Two words....ROLLER COASTER!!!
All I say is phew.... This may be part informational and part "vent" session. SOOO much has happened over the past 2 months. Three emergency hospital stays for me, long recovery, difficulty keeping food due to the abdominal surgery, Aiden being in NICU and a nice case of post-partum!
I will say regarding the post-partum, I am GLAD I asked for help. I knew I didn't feel like myself and know it is nothing to be ashamed of...just something I get to work through...which isn't so bad. Life will hand you lemons every now and then and I am the process of learning how to make lemonade. It is not always easy...especially for Mike..though I swear God has sent him to me as an angel without wings. He, outside of God, has been my rock through this entire experience. I have fallen more in love with him than ever before. God definitely knew what He was doing when He made us for each other.
Now onto the latest. Yesterday, I went to the hospital to labor and delivery and NICU and brought pictures of Aiden and said hello to everyone. It was a way of getting me out of the house. (still move kind of slowly as my body is still every much in recovery...especially with eating no fat or dairy...been weak). I went to leave and saw Mike had called 20 minutes prior, so I called him back. He said, "Are you still at the hospital? If so, don't leave. Aiden turned blue around his eyes and mouth and I had to call 911 and the paramedics are here. We may be bringing him in." If it weren't for God giving me peace, I might have lost it! Soon after, I got the call that they were transporting him to the hospital and Mike was in the ambulance and for me to meet them where the ambulance will pull up.
Aiden came in and of course I then let my tears start to flow. He looked very lethargic and was blue where Mike had said. They took him into the ER. [On a light note, every single person, nurse and patient that walked by turned into little kids when they saw how cute he was. They aren't used to tiny babies in the ER.] We would pick up his arm and it would just flop down. He was extremely lethargic, pale and not moving very much. I felt numb. I mean, hello...4th ER visit in 2 months and now it was my precious son!
The NICU nurse came down and put an IV in him and took some blood for tests. To make a long story short, the nurses were busy with a lot of patients, so I took the reigns and asked when he could be fed, because he was now 2 hours past feeding time. Of course there had been a shift change and Aiden was kind of lost in the crowd of folks. The doc said he could eat, so I hustled (probably, not the best seeing as I was weak, but didn't care) before anyone could stop me, to NICU to get him some food. They said their nurse was waiting for the ER doc to call and I said the ER doc was waiting for her to call. Hello?!!! Anyway, me pushing the food got them on it and they said they were going to admit Aiden for 48 hours into NICU for observation and maybe antibiotics since the tests came back normal. I thought, "Normal?!" When a child turns blue, there is nothing normal/healthy about that.
We reluctantly left to come home last night and get some rest (which by the way we didn't. Mike and I both slept awful thinking about little guy). I called the nurse before bed and she explained everything. She said Aiden's red blood count was in the 20's instead of between 45-50 so he wasn't getting much oxygen. Finally....something that made sense! They are in the process now (or in the next few hours) of deciding whether to give him a blood transfusion. That will make him feel better, but said he could relapse again. Geezz..... They said they'll explain everything to us before he is ever discharged so we know what to look for. I will tell you one thing...this has most definitely kept me on my knees. God has been a great source of strength and has used so many people to wrap their arms around us. I think we just feel shell shocked and numb at the same time. Mike and I have had our share of trials lately (who doesn't), but we know it will get better. So with that...here's some pics.

Aiden said his first word. I was holding him for a few hours and thought maybe I should put him back in his crib so I could get up and walk around. Mike went to pick him up and he screamed, "NOOOOOOOO!!!!" with his hands gripped to my shirt. We both laughed, and Mike put him back on my chest. He felt right to sleep. He just wanted his mommy!

10.16.08 Aiden comes home @ 1:30 PM!!!
Today is the day that our son came home from the hospital (NICU). After 6 rough weeks, we were finally able to bring him home today.
None of this would have been possible without the amazing outpouring of love, prayers and support from people we know and love and those we have never met before.
What a perfect time for him to come home....day before Thanksgiving!
He has come home as 4 lb. 9 oz. and will be on a heart/respiratory monitor for possibly a couple of months. He is just the cutest thing as you will see!
Mom seeing him for the first time today before coming home.
The last posting on his dry erase board in his NICU room.
If you'll note the adorable sailboat outfit came from Aiden's Aunt Susan and Meg
Aiden's first family portrait.
Mom holding precious Aiden!
Mom, Dad and Grandma Schuck with baby Aiden
Aiden's first trip in the car (notice the sailboat blanket Aunt Meg bought for him)

Welcome Aiden Michael Libby - Born October 16, 2008 @ 6:24 a.m.
A lot of time has passed since I have posted anything on the blog. I was waiting until I felt good enough to share the entire birth story and then upload a ton of pictures. I just don't have the strength yet, but wanted to get something on the blog for folks to see. So, below are some pictures of our wonderful son, Aiden. These pictures are when he was one month old (November 16).

10.8.08 - 3/D Sonogram of Aiden
On Wednesday, October 8th (same day as I left the hospital), I had a sonogram appointment. We found out Aiden was sitting so low that his feet didn't even register on the sonogram. Not surprising to me! So apparently he was breech, as of that day. I feel like he has moved almost sideways and is extremely active. Makes me happy considering all that has gone on this past week!
You'll notice on these pictures that near the top of his head, it looks like his head fades into a black patch. That just means he is hitting up against my tummy! No surprise there either. I will make an attempt soon, maybe tomorrow, to put up the video feed of him moving around.
Enjoy!

10.4.08 Baby Shower in Fredericksburg, VA
It was a beautiful Saturday (10.4.08) and we sure did have a great time! My 2 sweet sister-in-laws sent flowers and an edible arrangement that had chocolate covered bananas and strawberries on it...all the way from Seattle! Having it at Susan's meant a lot, since that was where we held my bridal shower and spent the day getting ready before I got married.
I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!
